Millie ain't quillie no more!

MESSAGE FROM MILLIE'S FOSTER MOM:
I just wanted to let you all know I'm seeing Millie blossom. Her hair is starting to grow back from all the shaved spots, so the scars and scrapes are hidden. She's been eating 3 meals a day so she has gained some weight.

But most of all........Today for the first time ever...she felt happy and playful enough to run full speed to play chase with my dogs.

So thanks to everyone for helping her!!!! It is really exciting to see her happy and full of life.

These are the days when rescue feels so worthwhile!!

MILLIE IS ON PETFINDER.COM
Millie is a pretty girl estimated to be about a year old. She's a nice medium-sized shepherd mix weighing only 46 pounds. Millie had a difficult summer, and ran into some bad luck!

About a month ago, Millie was picked up as a stray in Red Lake, Minnesota. She was injured from a meeting with a porcupine. Millie had to have surgery to remove over 100 quills.

During her stay at the vet, Millie was found to have a slightly enlarged heart and a low-grade murmur. Her vet indicated that many dogs suffer no consequences from heart murmurs and live long, healthy lives. Millie therefore was marked as a special needs dog because whomever adopts her will want have her heart monitored at her routine vet visits.

Millie is now recovering from her spay surgery at her foster home. She enjoys relaxing in the house, staying out of the summer heat, and hanging out with the resident dogs and cats. She is very sweet and easygoing. Millie is also a smart dog. She is food-motivated, sits nicely and has learned to be crate-trained and housebroken.

Millie is looking for a nice family to adopt her and take her to a home where she is safe, spoiled and away from porcupines forever.

Millie is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
