Updates on Julie and her pups Sweetie & Remy

This is such a wonderful story-- and a special thanks to Carol
P. who made the rescue, and Tony who transported them to the shelter!! Karen :)

UPDATE FROM ALL DOG RESCUE BLOG:
Sweet Julie (formerly Rose) came to us from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, who took her in from the woods where she had been living with her litter of puppies. Julie and two of her puppies came to All Dog Rescue, and all three have found wonderful forever homes! Their new families have all sent updates:

JULIE/ROSEThings are going well so far. Julie loves her walks and is getting better about walking on the leash, not trying to chase every rabbit and squirrel that she sees--and we have lots! This past weekend we practiced not having to be in the same room at every moment of the day. :-) She'll go into the back yard by herself now. She also learned to sit! I'm not a very good trainer but she learned very quickly. Yesterday we tried playing with toys but she couldn't quite get the idea until today when she took one of the stuffed toys outside and ran around with it it like a lunatic! It was great fun to watch!

Thank you for making it possible for Julie and her pups to have a new life. She is a wonderful dog.

A happy ending for Sweetie...

SWEETIE/LUCY
It has been a wonderful beginning!! Sweetie is such a good girl and very smart... of course we have taken 30 pictures at least but I think these are the best for now... it is one on her new bed which she loves, with her toys, with my daughter in back yard, and with her again at swim lessons this early morning... we played in the park for an hour this morning. she loves napping through day then at around 12 noon we will have to play again... we just love her so much... we are going to buy a little play pool this afternoon.

...and a happy ending for Sweetie's brother Remy!

REMINGTON/RICKYRemy has definitely established his place in the house. And as you can see from the pictures - Scarlett LOVES him! They play constantly - to the point that they have to be taken outside separately. Otherwise, he is just too busy to remember what he's outside for. :-) She is really quite the mother hen with him. He woke up the first night, but since has slept through the night. I think it helps that Scarlett sleeps by his kennel. He's not too sure of what to think of the cats. He uses his deep bark on them - it's hilarious!

I hope you enjoy the pictures. I think he's already grown since these. We're going to take paw prints once a month just to watch how much he grows.

Here's good news on Sarge--the brindle pit bull /mastiff male rescued by Carol Priest. He spent many months at the shelter and Animal Ark gave him a chance in May after the clinic. Now he has been adopted.

This is wonderful news! If you could give me a little detail about the situation Sarge will be living in, I'd really appreciate it. I helped feed Sarge when he was homeless, and brought him to Red Lake Rosie's when he began to seem ill. I was unable to take him home because of my other dogs, but he really brightened my days at work. I am now on the Board of Red Lake Rosie's, and have helped out with Animal Ark clinics up here. Thank you so much for sheltering him, and for finding him a forever home!

CAROL AND SARGE BEFOREFROM ANIMAL ARK:
Sarge went into a home with a couple, two cats and two adult kids. He'll sleep in a bedroom with his people or wherever he is comfortable. He will be left alone each day for just 2-6 hours depending on the day of the week. They own their house and are really nice folks. His heartworm treatment is completed and now he will be in his own home - I hope forever.

Thanks for caring about the big guy - I love that dog!! He's got real personality!

One-month transformation for Edwina & Jewelz

Edwina and Jewelz were part of a large transport from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. They went to foster homes with ARVSS in Wisconsin and are now up on Petfinder.com ready for adoption. They look heartwarmingly healthy and happy now compared to a month ago!

EDWINA BEFOREEdwina had a very sad story. According to Karen, she was the only survivor of her litter who came here on 7/12/09. The litter of pups was starving and mange-infested already. Then kids in the neighborhood where they lived hung the puppies by the neck and threw stones at them until they all died, except Edwina. A lady got the puppy away from the kids and we got her. The people do not know the kids involved and would give no information. Despite her shockingly tragic circumstances, Edwina is a "hoot". She is such a great pup and has a wonderful "I am happy" attitude. A real doll.

EDWINA AFTERMy name is Edwina. I was born about June 1, 2009. We are thinking I am some kind of Terrier Mix. It does not look like I am going to get too big either, but, since my parentage is unknown, there is no guarantee. Maybe 45-50 lbs.

I am energetic and friendly. I am a good listener and all-around a good dog. I am crate-trained and do great inside the house. My foster family has just started obedience training with me--and I am very smart.

The person(s) that adopt me will need to keep me busy. I need to exercise. A walk or two a day along with a good run in a yard chasing a ball or to a dog park to chase some other dogs would be good.

I love Kids and Cats! I like Kids cuz they can wear me out (and I wear them out)--I like cats cuz they just smell different.

JEWELZ AFTERMy name is Jewlz. I was born about November 1, 2008. I am a Husky/Terrier Mix and I will stay about 50-55 lbs.
I am a very good girl. I am great in my crate and I am housebroken. I love to play. I am very very smart. I have found very creative ways to communicate to my foster family about what I want. I have started obedience training and I learn quickly.

I love other dogs and I really love children. I just got swiped by the foster families cats (guess she did not want to play like a dog)--so we have been making up this week and it is going fine. I will listen the next time a cat says they don't want to play!

The person(s) who adopt me need to keep in mind that I am very intelligent and will require mind-stimulating activities (children and other dogs work well). If you decide to adopt me, I will give you companionship, loyalty and love--I promise!

Help my friends ... please?

As many of you know ... the only reason I am still alive and I am still here to enjoy life is because of Karen Good of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. I was dumped along with my litter of 8 pups last fall, and if she hadn't taken me in I would've continued wandering around trying to survive. Check out my first blog entry and you can watch a video of my story (keep a box of kleenex handy!).

IONEAnyway, Karen needs your help now and so do my friends up north. She recently took in 22 dogs and is in desperate need of fosters and rescues to help. The cute shepherd pup above is Ione. Here's what they have to say about this sweet pup: "found wandering alone - Karen G. says she is about 10-14wks old. Says she is pretty scared. NEEDS socialization. This takes work but it can be accomplished. She was caught by a volunteer so she has hope in her future. She is a gorgeous little shep cross. This puppy would need to go EVERYWHERE with you and LOTS and LOTS of TLC and treats. :) Maybe a fenced in yard due to the potential to run."

I also asked my Human to put together a video of photos she took on 3 separate trips she made up to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue last fall. Her first trip was in October (when she met me ... there are photos of me ... my glamour shots when I was still nursing my pups!). She then went back in November so she could bring me back. I had heartworm and was still nursing my pups so she couldn't bring me in October. Then in December we went back together so we could visit Karen and my friends ... AND we helped in transporting 18 dogs/pups/kittens back to the Twin Cities.

Jaycee rescued

Poor Jaycee arrived yesterday and we are so thankful for all the people involved in her rescue.

JAYCEEShe has been seen begging for food on highway 89 for some time. She had bags so we knew she had a litter hidden somewhere. Poor Jaycee was starving and has severe mange.

Polly fed her a few times to gain her trust, then followed her to locate the litter. She found 7 little shep babies! The babies all look fine now, but will develop mange as they wean.

JAYCEE AND PUPSPolly then called Tony and he responded and came to pick the family up and take them to the RLRR shelter.

They are safely tucked in a kennel and never have to worry about food and water. They are all being treated for mange and will be weaned soon.

JAYCEE'S PUPSWe are very worried that by the condition of Jaycee she may require considerable medical treatment. We fear she may have heartworm. She is a wonderful dog and a great dedicated mom. We cannot imagine how she managed to survive!

(We named her Jaycee after the kidnapped girl that was found the same day we rescued her!!)

The Three Amigos

I want to share the story of the three amigos.

We got a call from a man who had 3 older chihuahuas and could no longer care for them. They are Gabby, Hosea and Harley. They got the nickname "The three amigos" at the shelter.

As it turned out they had Hosea (the male) first and he now is 11 years old. Then they got Harley who is 10 years old; she is a female now spayed.
Finally they got the baby, named Gabby, who is now 9 years old.

HOSEAWhen the three came to us on August 24th, they had lived indoors all their lives and now they are in a kennel. They do exercise with the group in the morning and evening and seem to be adjusting fine.

HARLEYWe are thankful that Pet Haven decided to take Harley and she left with Barbara on the transport. Pet Haven was inquiring about Gabby this morning.

GABBYWe appreciate that Pet Haven has often taken older dogs from Red Lake Rosie's and we want to thank them for their kindness.

Thanks to all who made weekend transport possible

We are so thankful today that we were able to place 30 dogs and puppies through a transport with Barbara and Jodi and her friend Chuck and Dee Dee.

In addition to the 18 tiny pups that went to Tricounty Humane Society for foster care, there were 12 others. I understand that there is going to be a reporter doing a newspaper story on the puppies that arrived at Tricounty in St. Cloud. I will be giving you more details on that as I get the information.

CASEY is off to Act V. She is a great small to medium size husky mix with one blue eye and one brown eye. She has been spayed and has received mange treatment.

Last, but not least, is TWIZZLER, a smaller breed dog who came here Thursday as a result of a dog attack. He was already neutered at our May clinic and the owner decided to surrender Twizzler so he could get vet care. He went to the vet and had a leg wound treated and got an e-collar which earned him the name of "cone-head" by Jodi and Barbara. He moved into the cat house with Andy while here--a wonderful guy who will be missed. BTW, Twizzler loves black twizzlers and that's how he got the name. He is enroute to All Dog Rescue.

We want to give a great big hug and thank you to rescues and transporters who make this all possible. We think this group of dogs was one of the BEST. We could open all the kennel doors and they would all get along!! Even with Grandpa dog.
