All Dog Rescue Happy Endings (for dogs from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue):
Update Received November 2012
Here are some pictures of Penny - she weighs about 37 pounds now!
We did a DNA test on Penny and it determined that she is 1/4 German Shepherd, 1/4 Labrador Retriever (probably yellow lab because they can also be copper colored), 1/4 Lhasa Apso (hahaha) and 1/4 undetermined (French bulldog was the largest percentage they could come up with). She looks like a shepherd, acts like a lab and is small like a Lhasa Apso - go figure!
She is doing really well and we're really glad that she is part of our family!

New Penny
PET HAVEN FOSTER RECEIVES UPDATE ON GRACIE/PENNY:
Gracie, who's name was changed to Penny, is doing just great! We love her to pieces and she returns the love to us. She is totally immersed in our family and loves my children and grandchildren.
She is getting bigger and loves to play in the snow. I've plowed a number of paths in her back yard for her to run in and to make it easier to play ball. She also loves to jump through the deep snow and carry sticks around.
She is totally housebroken, enters her crate when we have to leave and LOVES to play. She sleeps next to our bed most of the night and then climbs on the bed towards morning loving to lay her head or paws on or over my ankles!
She is doing pretty good learning new things like stay and come and is very smart and is excellent in attempting to manipulate us to do what she wants. She has figured out if she drops something I don't want her to have, she will get a treat. So she brings items to me and drops them!
We are still working on stopping play biting and watching her for items she grabs that she shouldn't have like shoes, etc. All in all she is a very good dog being a little angel most of the time. She gets a lot of exercise even with the cold weather and one of my grandsons loves to take her for walks.
As I write this note to you she is laying in one of her favorite spots under the computer desk with her head on my foot.
She demands a lot of attention from all of us being the energetic pup that she is but we knew what we were in for getting a pup.
I can't begin to tell you how happy we are to have her and how much we love her. She loves Lee whom she has managed to wrap around her paws and she still likes to cuddle with both of us and loves to lay on pillows. Our son Charlie loves her too and my son-in-law says she has such a cool personality which is true.
I promise to send more pictures as soon as I can and am sending some of the latest I took of her.
God's blessing to you,
L&L

Penny in her new home
Penny left Red Lake Rosie's Rescue at the end of 2007 and found her forever home in Amery WI. Penny asked that I share some current photos of her and tell everyone she loves her humans and could not be happier or more spoiled. Well, if her humans wanted to spoil her more she would accommodate them....but it's not necessary.
My fluffy bed.
My ergonomically correct food and water dishes.
One of my favorite spots to sit so that the top of my head is easier to reach for pets.
With my Dad in our apple orchard getting some lovin'.

Updates on Penny and her pups
Remember poor Penny and her pups when they were rescued?
MAMA PENNY UPDATE 1:
Penny is back at our home to be fostered :) Matt is so happy to have her back!
JuneBug isn't real keen on her going near her puppies--but Penny REALLY wants to take care of them! I think as time goes by JB will let her in :)
She did not do well at the foster home she was put in until she could be spayed. It was a very urban area with lots of traffic and activities. She seems to better in a rural situation. Here are some pictures I took today.
Matt just came in the house---we have JB in the house and Penny is outside in the kennel playing with the pups! She is so special!!!
Susie
MAMA PENNY UPDATE 2:
Penny has gone to her new home. Very nice couple with two children in college. Their last dog was shy and so they are ok with Penny's shyness--After highlighting all her good and bad points--I asked them to think about it for 24 hours and let me know---they called 3 hours later and said they really wanted her :)
Susie
UPDATES FROM ARVSS:
Hello Adopters!
R&M, who were the first family to adopt one of Penny's babies, have requested I share their email address with all the other families who have adopted from this litter. Many people do this and have kept in contact for many years. Some wonderful friendships have also developed from it. These families share pictures, and solutions to puppies raising problems--which is always nice!!! And it is a lot of fun to see your pet's brothers and sisters grow up!
Thank you all once again for adopting a rescued pet!!!
Susie
THALIA/KONA
THALIA (NOW KONA)
Kona is doing really well. She's currently on a family vacation with us to northern Michigan and loved the car rides and new doggy friends she is making.
THALIA/KONA
She is adapting to things really well and really enjoying being a puppy :)

ZELDA REMAINS ZELDA
Zelda is doing great. We did not change her name since we thought it already was the perfect name. We have been meaning to send you pictures as she has already grown so much. She is now over 21 pounds, but she is still so skinny. She could end up the size of a horse the way she is growing.
ZELDA
We are in our fifth week of puppy training and she knows her name and has mastered sit, down, come, and we are getting pretty good with drop it though she really loves to put everything in her mouth. She loves all toys, especially the ones that squeak. I think she misses playing with Bea Arthur and the others.
ZELDA
She plays with a Husky in puppy class, but she is so big and rambunctious that the trainers don't let her play with the other dogs yet. She isn't aggressive like some of the other dogs, but her energy and strength are difficult to match. There are over 20 dogs about the same age or older than her, but she outweighs all of them by more than five pounds. I've attached two pictures from a couple of weeks ago, but we'll send more when we get the more recent ones uploaded.

ZOE
ZOE
We have had a good week getting to know Denali Houdini Hoover Crybaby Kliminski (aka Zoe). Attached is a picture of her laying in the hostas. It is a cool and shady spot to watch the girls when outside. She also can be found on the tile in front of one of the fireplaces when inside. Definitely a hot blooded girl!
Made our first trip to the vet Wednesday. She does great riding in the car and went to both of the girls' summer school classes. She was on her best behavior and charmed everyone!
We would be happy to stay in touch with the other puppy families to share triumphs and tragedies. Thanks for helping us make the connection and for giving our little girl a good start!

NATASHA (NOW ZOE -- So that makes two Zoe's in this litter! Susie)
Everything is going great. Zoe (new name) is doing really well in the crate, hasn't had one accident in there yet. Has had a couple accidents in the house but she's learning pretty quick. She is getting pretty good at quite a few commands. She can now do sit, stay, lay down, shake (BOTH hands), and she kind of understands roll over. Come is hard though, she is far too brave at this point and would much rather explore.
We went to the vet on Monday and she is now 24.4 lbs. Which is crazy compared to the 14 lbs she was when I took her in for a physical in June. We've also visited a few dog parks with her friend Gordy (my best friend's springer spaniel) and she loves it. There's one by Stoughton that has like 3 places for the dogs to go swimming too. It's great. Anyway, I'll keep you posted and try and get you a couple pictures. My computer died so it might be awhile. Hope summer is going great. :)

LUKE
We have adopted Luke. He was the very mellow and laid back boy of the litter. While he is fairly mellow, he's certainly having a wonderful time teasing and playing with our older dog Rozee (a 4 yr old German Shepherd mix) who was also adopted from ARVSS and is from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.
LUKE
We would be happy to keep in contact or get together with anyone else with puppies from the litter. I've attached a couple of recent pictures.
Thanks

NICO
I'm sending you this picture of Nico taken tonight... He's rapidly becoming used to the kids and our house. We were a little uncertain as to how the kids might interact with a dog, since they both seemed a bit scared of dogs before Nico came along. Tonight Lance (pictured) requested that Nico's crate be placed in his room next to his bed!
NICO
Nico seems to be adapting well and is sleeping through the night (O.K., 11:00 to 5:00... close enough!) Still a bit nippy, but I think he's catching on. We'll be doing obedience class when things settle down a bit here. Nico has enjoyed exploring our backyard, chasing ants, picking up sticks, etc.
Thanks again!

ANNABETH (CHLOE)
J~ left for Seattle yesterday afternoon so Chloe and I are having a girls-only 4-day slumber party. What fun! :o) She's such a wonderful dog - so sweet and so smart! Things are going well and I just wanted to thank you for what you did for her and her mom/litter mates and the way you've been there for us with questions/validation. You're lovely! I'll let you know if I need anything
Much thanks -

Lucky Penny and her pups
BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: All seven pups have been adopted already! Mama Penny will be spayed tomorrow and then she will be available for adoption, too. Thanks again to ARVSS for helping this family.
Two months ago Karen was told about a mama dog and her newborn pups in a den in the woods.
A young girl took Karen & Polly to the little family. The mama dog, now called Penny, was full of ticks and very thin and hungry and had an infection behind the ear.
She was so happy to have food, water and a comfortable place to nurse her puppies. They were lucky to be found just before several days of rain.
Transported by DeeDee and fostered by ARVSS, Penny is separate from her pups now awaiting her spay surgery and the pups are up for adoption. Check out the cuteness! Click on their names to link to more about them on Petfinder.com.

Penny's seventh pup Thalia has already been adopted and we have an update:
THALIA / KONA
I want to let you know that Thalia, who we renamed Kona, is doing really well so far. She did cry a little last night when we crated her and cries a bit when when we first put her in the crate in the car, but is settling in quickly to her new home.
She had her first vet visit today (at least first with us) and all your records got her in and out w/o any shots so she really appreciated that.
I attached a couple of pictures I just took with my phone during her nap, but once we get better ones online then we will be sure to let you know.
Thanks for everything you did for Kona and everything you continue to do for other dogs that need homes.

Updates from ARVSS
Animal Rescue and Veterinary Support Services--ARVSS is a wonderful supporter of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in Wisconsin. They have found homes for many dogs and here are some recent updates:
SUSIE OF ARVSS WHEN SHE RECEIVED THE WHITE PUPS
ALL FIVE WHITE PUPS
Here are the 5 white puppies just before they were all getting adopted. All but one has a new home, and I have asked that the new families send pictures!

GERTY
Hi Susie,
Well, we made it through our first week with Gertie. She has been great despite all of those puppy tendencies, especially wanting to chew everything except her dog toys.

We were a little worried at first, because Rory, our youngest freaked out when Gertie came into the house. She insisted on being held. She is warming up to her and loves to pet her now.
RORY STILL LOOKS A LITTLE WORRIED
Gertie is great to walk and we get a lot of compliments on her and her behavior. She has been a great addition to the family.
Thanks,
The S~ family
LOU AND DAD
Hi Susie
All is well, Lou is happy and healthy and a very good boy.
LOU AND NEW BUDDY
In this picture they are sitting on the "cookie" carpet and waiting nicely! :)
