Happy Birthday, Dear Alex!

Hello!

I wanted to share pictures of Alex (formerly Snoopy) with you.

Our family picked July 4th as his birthday. So he is officially one year old. Of course we had to celebrate his birthday. He now knows how to open up presents.

LOVES BIRTHDAY PRESENTSHe is very much a “mama’s boy”. Follows me around everywhere!! (which I love) I enjoy playing hide and go seek with him. It is so cute because he tears up the house looking for me.

LAP DOGHe is now 58 pounds and still thinks he is a lap dog. I don’t know if he will ever stop growing. I didn’t think he was going to get this big. He is very tall and lean. He runs like a horse!

NAP DOGUp until a month ago he was still sleeping with Greg and I but Greg kicked him out of our bed. Now Alex has his own bed and blanket right next to our bed. As soon as Greg gets out of bed in the morning Alex climbs in our bed and snuggles with me.

ALEX/SNOOPY AS A BABYI want to thank you again for introducing us to Alex. He is very much part of our family. We all enjoy him and love him so much! He has been a GREAT dog. Thanks again!

Wonderful news: Justin is adopted!!

Happy update on Justin the little earless shep--HE IS GETTING ADOPTED!! YAY- Karen

THIS HAPPY SMILE BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES

FIRST REPORT FROM FOSTER HOME:
The baby is here! We picked up Justin/Beebs this afternoon, fresh off the transport down from Red Lake Rosie's. Grungy, flea bitten, missing big chunks of hair and ears. But sweet, quiet, gentle, wags his tail, defers to the other dogs . . . and Butch, the rickety old cat.

BATHTIMEHe was scared at first when we took a step towards him, but is already following us around and is currently taking a post-bath nap with Jesse. He was in the house for about 30 minutes before E asked if we can adopt him. He has no idea what a Tennis ball is but loves chasing after the other guys who grew up playing tennis : )

A sweet sweet boy! We are so happy he is here and will never be hurt again.

C&E~, promoting fostering/adopting - it rocks!

TERRIFIED JUSTIN BEFORERESPONSE FROM RESCUE GROUP MARS:
Thank you so much Colleen for the update. After meeting him tonight, it just reinforces why rescue is here. This sweet boy has done nothing in his short life to have gone through what he has gone through, yet is so forgiving of us humans.

He knows he is safe with you guys and we thank you for coming to his rescue.

A~

JOY AND CONFIDENCE

UPDATE FROM FOSTER/ADOPTING HOME:
We for sure want to adopt Justin.

We have changed his name to Leo - since he has a noble lion-like face and he is so courageous. He has fit into our home and with the other dogs so amazingly well!

Thanks for sending Leo our way - we adore him!!!

Patiently Waiting for Their Forever Homes!

These 3 RLRR cats are all waiting to be adopted and have a forever home of their own. All of these cats live with dogs and other cats and do just fine with them. If you are looking for a cat, please read their short bio's or pass on the information to someone who might be interested.

GIZMOGizmo is a young girl who came to us as a scared and lonely kitten. She has blossomed into a spitfire - full of life, energy, and personality! Gizmo loves to play with anything - the other cats, her toys, or even her own tail. She also is a sweetheart who loves to cuddle and will fall asleep purring while getting pet. Gizzy is such a great girl - a perfect combination of spunkiness and sweetness.

LASERPoor little Laser has been in foster care for 6 months now and she's just around a year old. That's no life for a sweet girl! Laser has the most adorable round face you'll ever see with big, yellow/green eyes. Her favorite thing to do is play with her toys. She loves to carry around her bouncy ball or cat nip mouse as she runs around the house. She is not a needy cat, but still likes a good cheek rub once in awhile. She is a very easy cat to take care of.

TEENYTeeny is a great little girl who would do well in any kind of household. She is loving and likes to curl up in her foster mom's lap to take a little snooze. She also loves playing with her foster sister, Gizmo, and will run around chasing her all over the house. Teeny is a sweet, slender girl who needs a home of her own where she will get the love and attention she deserves.

If you are interested in learning a little more about any of these cats, please see their full bio's at www.redlakerosie.org.

Thanks,
Lauren

Ziva to Abby

ADOPTER UPDATE
To the wonderful people and animals of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue:

I am sending a donation to help with your terrific work on behalf of animals -- but I also want to share some photos of our sweet Ziva. She was originally from your organization, and came to us (via a foster home) in late July 2009.

Her sister, Abby came to our home two days later (from a foster family with MARS). They bonded with each other and with us, very quickly -- and we think we are giving them a good life.

We walk them twice a day, and they have a great time racing around our fenced backyard whenever they want to go out. They definitely keep me active!

Both dogs are playful and loving, and really add fun and warmth to our home.

Thank you for all the work you do for animals, and for the kindness and love you bring into their lives.

Brave little Emery is healing

UPDATE FROM FOSTER HOME:
Emery is doing pretty good. His foster mom adores him - he is the first dog she has EVER fostered who arrived housetrained -- and she's had a ton of fosters. He's incredibly sweet and social and such a gem. His wound is healing, but he has some other medical issues from prior injuries. We just posted him to our website. He's really a lucky dog to be alive. I'm sure we'll find a perfect home for him. He's a sweetheart who deserves nothing less.

PETFINDER.COM POST:
Emery
Dachshund [Mix]
Small Adult Male Dog
This little guy is Emery, and as you can see from the photos, he was in pretty rough shape when he came to All Dog Rescue. Emery came from the Red Lake reservation where he was found with a terrible, deep, L-shaped gash in his abdomen. It seemed amazing that he survived such a horrible wound, and even more amazing given our vet's best guess as to what caused it was a claw from a wild animal such as a bear or a wildcat of some type. Considering he is such a little guy - around 15 pounds, and about 2-3 years old - he is lucky to be alive after that kind of attack.

Emery has been quickly regaining his health in his foster home, and he has finally healed enough (all of the tubes you see in the photos are long gone) that he is ready to find his forever home. He is such a nice boy that he is sure to be a great companion! He is housebroken, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is super-affectionate - his foster mom says he is a "velcro boy" and loves to be close to her. He is also very playful and gets along nicely with the other young dog in his foster home. He can be a bit barky if he's unhappy so will not be the best fit for an apartment or other shared walls.

Emery is marked as special needs for a couple of reasons. First, while he has come a long way in his recovery, he still does have some healing to do so he needs a family that is willing and able to make sure he gets any follow-up care he might need and is patient while he regains his full health (because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home). Second, he does limp on one of his front legs. X-rays showed that he has some spurs on his ankle that appear to be from an older injury, and he also seems to have a sore shoulder that is likely due to the recent trauma. He is likely to have some arthritis in this leg as he ages, and his new home will need to be prepared to provide pain medication and supplements like glucosamine for Emery as needed. This sweet boy is certainly worth it!

For more information about adopting Emery contact All Dog Rescue.

Molly, the cat: Making herself at home

ADOPTER UPDATE
Dear Karen--

I am enclosing pictures of Molly, the cat. Remember her? GB got her from you for her niece and husband. They have no children and the husband, L, is in a wheelchair. The niece, S, works fulltime. They kept the cat's original name of Molly.

Molly sleeps at the foot of their bed every night. When they awaken in the morning, they see Molly's eyes first thing!

The couple enjoys ice-fishing and when they come home they leave the bait in the pail on the floor. Molly puts her paw in the pail and slops out the minnows. L says Molly likes to fish, too, but she never eats them.

When they leave home for more than a day, they hire a cat-sitter to come to feed Molly and visit with her for a couple hours so she doesn't get lonesome.

They just love her!

What's more fun than a barrel full of monkeys?

A corral full of puppies, of course!

A VERY pregnant dog from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue gave birth to eleven pups on the day of her transport to a foster home. Here are some photos of them at the age of two weeks:

ARVSS will be offering them for adoption in a couple of months.
