Spike finds his home

Remember the emaciated chocolate lab rescued from a filthy pen that also contained a tiny matching dead pup? (See initial post.) Well, Spike's luck has turned around entirely in his new forever home.

SPIKE & HIS NEW MOMNOTE FROM FOSTER MOM:
Spike (now Mike) got the best home. One of our vet's mothers takes in dogs that need a little extra help. We found out that Spike's back has fused vertebrae (see note below) so he will need vet care. And now he has his own personal care attendant right in his family.

Spike's new owner, R~ is home most of the time, has a huge fenced-in yard, likes to go for walks, and is thrilled to have another dog in her life. Her family all lives close by and they have gatherings at her house often. Spike will be thrilled to greet company -- humans and dogs alike.

I am so happy for Spikey. I loved that boy and would have adopted him myself if I was looking for another dog. He is set for life now, never having to worry about a thing again but maybe which comfy bed to choose for a nap in the sun.

Thanks to Karen & Red Lake Rosie's Rescue for saving him.

SPIKE'S PREVIOUS LIFENOTE FROM VET:
Spike's's a heck of a dog and my mother loves him. So they're a team from here out.

His hips are great, his back is not. His 7th lumbar vertebrae is fused to his sacrum and he has other significant spondylosis issues. I don't think this is causing him pain at this time but it does probably limit his ability to jump. No neurological issues I can see at this time.

Thanks so much for your help with getting him.

Hooray for Spike!!!!!! This is the
greatest news. We have been
following his story from the beginning, and we are thrilled to
learn that he has found a very
loving Mom and extended family. A huge
thank you to everyone involved, from his rescue all the way to
his adoptive family. Hugs for Spike!!
