In memory of Nella

Usually when Mike and Lauren arrive it seems, there is one heartbreaker, and this time it was little Nella. Nella is a little juvenile shepherd who had an emergency C-section two days before the arrival of the couple. Nella was scheduled to return to her home, however, was too ill so she came to the shelter and was put in a cage at the cathouse to recuperate.

Of course Lauren and Mike quickly moved her out of the cage into a nice soft bed, and gave her lots of tlc. Later on Friday night it was evident that Nella was not doing well. We took her to the vet, where the vet hospitalized her. Saturday the owners surrendered Nella to us, and we tried to keep her alive until we got her to the Act V Rescue in Bloomington on Sunday.

The local vet had to operate and found that her bladder was dead and not connected to the kidney at all and the urine was leaking in her body cavity. Sadly, we let Nella go. Everyhone was brokenhearted including the owner, Connie and her children.

This little dog had such a sweet spirit, and so sad we got to her too late.

Rest in Peace, Nella.

Another sweet angel will be waiting
at the Rainbow Bridge for you. She touched many lives while here for such a short time, but she took alot of love with her when she left to join the others. Thank you for caring for her.

Thank you Karen, Lauren and Mike for all you did for this beautiful girl. I am sure she knew how much love there was for her as she crossed over. I picture her and sweet little Carly playing together forever.

That is very sad! I'm so sorry that help came too late for this beautiful little girl.
I recently lost my basset hound to a twisted stomach, it's very heartbreaking.

It's nice that she passed away while being cared for so well. I'd rather have them pass while they're warm, comfortable and loved with a full belly - than having them pass away alone in the cold somewhere. Thank you, everyone, for working so hard.
