Isabelle (Part III): Updates on puppies

ZED IS STILL WAITING FOR A HOME

ZED (note from foster caregiver Linda):

I've had a few applications for Zed but they all fell through. He is a very active, curious boy - first one up the steps. Loves to chase after his "foster doggy mom" Charlie. A first time home and someone without small children would be the best scenario for him. Would love to see him go home to a home with another dog to help "train" him. Learn about adopting Zed HERE.

ZABRINA & FAMILY

ZABRINA (note from Linda):

Zabrina went to a first time dog owner couple, no kids, who just LOVE her and she is already in obedience classes.

ZAC & FAMILY

ZAC (note from adopters):
"Sam changed Zac's name to Finn and he is doing wonderful. Sam is beyond thrilled!!"

ZAMBONI & FAMILY

ZAMBONI (note from Linda):
Zamboni went to a young couple who works split shifts and just moved into their first house - he will be spoiled for sure.

ZEKE & FAMILY

ZEKE (note from adopters):
"Everything is going very well with Zeke! We renamed him Darwin. He is fitting in very well with the family and older brother, Turbo. Turbo has been helpful in training him. Potty training has been going great. We are down to maybe 1 accident per day in the last week. He sleeps through the night without problems. Darwin is a very sweet, smart boy. He often looks like he is just calmly taking everything in. He already knows how to "sit" just from observing Turbo. Darwin tends to go with the flow. If the family is doing something quiet, he tends to be a quiet little snuggler. He also loves to play. He has done well with the holidays and family excursions. Over Christmas he took his first long car trip up to Brainerd for a few days."

Zodiac was just adopted - congratulations on finding your forever home, Zodiac!!

ZORRO & FAMILY

ZORRO (note from adopter):

"Things are going great with Teddy (formerly Zorro)! He has really become a part of the family. He has taken a liking to our older dog Joey, and Joey has come around since the first couple days. They love to play in the snow together and they eat their pig ears right next to each other!"

Zulu started getting lots of apps but went a fantastic family with older kids and an older dog - she is going to be thoroughly loved, no doubt about it.

ZUNI & FAMILY

ZUNI (note from adopter):
"Zuni (now known as Delta) is doing wonderful! She's growing so fast, at least in my eyes. We are working on the potty training and she's getting the hang of it but definitely still has her accidents.
She has met many people, and many dogs, and loves them all. She loves to play with other dogs, and play she does! Even if the other dogs are tired out, she still wants to continue. She's mouthing and chewing on everything and everyone she can get her little teeth on, but I have found a few toys that she really enjoys that can distract her quickly. I'm so in love, I could go on and on about her. But overall, she's great."

Isabelle (Part II): Puppies!

Isabelle’s nine puppies all thrived and grew. On November 11th they were loaded on a transport headed to foster care with All Dog Rescue. Linda was going to be their foster mom as she had been for scores of puppies from Red Lake.

Linda named all the puppies with “Z” names and all have been adopted to great homes except for the darling Zed. Learn more about adopting him HERE.

Happy Friday!

UPDATES ON THREE SPECIAL NEEDS DOGS:

Hi Karen,

I thought you might want to see some happy endings since you see so much sadness every day. Do you remember Zorro? Charmaine? and of course Ferris (with puppy strangles...)

ZORROWell, two out of three (Zorro and Ferris) are adopted already and living with wonderful, wonderful families.

CHARMAINEChar is in a FANTASTIC foster home and lives with another dog and a cat. She had her back leg amputated, as you know.

FERRIS AND FRIENDSAnyway... here is some happiness. Thank you for all of your hard work at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

Carolyn and the ACT V gang!

Poor Petie

Petie was the sole surviving pup born to a small dog. Just ten days old, he had a cyst on his neck the size of golf ball and his eye was ruptured. He was part of the January 5, 2010 transport and he went toAct V Rescue and Rehabilitation in Bloomington where he is in the great care of Dr. Vicki.

PETIEUPDATE FROM ACT V:
Little Pete is doing fine.

I think what ever bit him and made the abscess also got him in the left eye and that's why it ruptured.

He's being medicated every 6 hours and has a recheck appt tomorrow. I'm not used to getting up at 2 a.m. to feed puppies or babies for that matter. He's a very good eater.

Little Ina is doing well. She gets rechecked tomorrow too. Zorro (broken front leg shep) went to his new home yesterday. Jambi, the once-starving min-pin, is thriving in his new home.

All is good.

Zorro is a real Trooper!

Zorro came as a tiny pup to our November 2009 clinic and went home with his owners. Then one day I found him in my Red Lake Rosie's van while I was at work one day. There was a note attached to the crate that said the children in the house had broken his leg--so he was surrendered to RLRR shelter. We were grateful that Dr. Vickie and Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation were willing to take him.

UPDATE FROM HIS NEW HOME WHERE HIS NEW NAME IS TROOPER:
To all those who can't resist a cute puppy ...

Meet Trooper!!! He is our new family member, and a ridiculously cute one at that!

He came to us this Friday the 8th from a rescue foundation called Act V, here in Minneapolis. We found him less than two weeks ago on Petfinder and we all fell in love with his adorable face and story...Eric kept saying "that's a handsome animal!" Needless to say, it was love at first sight when we met him.

His foster mom Carolyn and her group with Act V did everything right when it comes to saving a dogs life. Carolyn did the most amazing job getting Trooper trained and all set to join a permanent family. We thank her for the gift of such an amazing puppy!

Trooper is almost four months old, is completely house-trained and knows the important commands VERY well. Of course, he has a lot of growing up to do, but we can see how smart he is. Plus he is sweeter than all get out!

We can't wait to do all the things that are better doing with a dog! I'm certain you will all get sick of seeing pictures of him! Our sons are beside themselves with excitement, of course. Eric and I find ourselves gazing at him the way we did the boys when they were newborn!

Anyway...you know what I mean if you have ever loved an animal, cat or dog!
