Update on Babes in the Woods

I got this from Lisa and TLC Canine Rescue. It's an update on Yukon -- the only survivor of the "Babes in the Woods." His sister died after a long battle.

BABES IN THE WOODSYukon was just adopted out 2 weeks ago and he was the one we got with his sister Stella at 4 weeks old.

YUKONHere is Yukon a day after we got him

STELLAThis was Stella, the one we lost. We spent $2000 at the University of MN Vet Hospital and found out she had no white blood cells. She died in my arms.

YUKON NOWHere is Yukon now with his new siblings. This made me cry.

Yukon and Sydney: Enjoying life together

Hi Karen!

Susan at All Dogs Rescue thought I should touch base with you fine folks at Rosie's. We recently adopted Yukon from All Dogs, and he's just an amazing boy! They were stunned when they found out our other dog, Sydney, came from the reservation as well. I was a little shocked myself!Sydney (named Cinderella when we adopted her) came to us from St. Francis Animal Rescue. We got her back in March 2008. I don't know a lot about her history, but I know she came to St. Francis with two male littermates.Anyway, she and Yukon get along wonderfully - it's almost as if they were meant for each other. They spend hours playing, and both have such high energy that I think I could throw a toy and have them fetch all night. Yukon's quite a talker himself, and lets us know when he thinks we've been gone too long. We each used to have one dog shadowing us, but now we have two!I've attached a couple of pictures, including one of just Sydney. I'm not sure if you'll remember her or not, but she's just a great dog, too.Thanks for all the work you do,

Yukon -- a brother from the 'hood

Yukon was surrendered at RLRR on 12/30/08. He had mange on his tail. He was neutered, had his shots and left RLRR on Jan 18 to go to All Dog Rescue. We were thrilled to hear that he was adopted recently, but check out the really amazing part about his new home:Hi, DeeDee;

Yes, Yukon was adopted, but we discovered something really cool while completing the paperwork.

The couple who adopted him have a 1.5 year old beautiful white husky mix with a few red markings. Well, when our volunteer was going through the paperwork she told them that Yukon had come from Rosie's originally, and they said that their other dog had originally come from there as well!

I don't have a lot of specifics on her, but they adopted her as a puppy from St. Francis - she had come there with 2 litter-mates, and their girl was the runt of the litter.

I know you'll be thrilled to know she is happy, playful, friendly, loved, and she and Yukon looked like they had been best friends since birth after spending just a few minutes together.

I do love the happy endings so much - it really is what gives me the strength to keep going when rescue gets hard!!
