Abner is ready to meet his new family

Abner arrived at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in April, 2015, badly injured and starved very nearly to death. He spent weeks gaining back the proper amount of weight. Then, his leg had to be amputated because it was too damaged to repair. Perhaps most remarkable is that he retains a sunny disposition despite the cruelty he has suffered.

UPDATES FROM ACT V:

He's getting around ok on three legs, he's home with his foster mom, and to quote her, "It's smooth sailing from here on in...!"
How very true.
Send him a smooch!

He's getting a lot of love in his foster home and some much-needed rest.

We don't take limb removal lightly, but sometimes it's a necessary evil in order to save a life. Not just save a life - our goal is to give that very life high quality.

Don't ever think our decisions don't weigh on our hearts and minds.

We love you, Abner, and we've cared for many a three-legged dog.

It's a 'Happy-Face-Friday!'
Thank you South Hyland Pet Hospital for taking such good care of Abner.
Count 'em... 1-2-3-4 smiling faces!

Abner seems to be adjusting quite well!
We have to think his pain is greatly reduced compared to what it once was.
He is a gem of a dog.
Meet Abner!
