August 19th-21st, Red Lake Rosie’s put on another successful clinic. MnSnap spayed/neutered 48 dogs and 37 cats.
We also provided vaccinations, dewormer, flea/tick application, mange treatment and antibiotics for animals that were previously fixed.
We had a terrific set of volunteers: Kristen, Ellen, Mike, Amy & son Colin, Melva & Dennis, Meagan & Laura from Pet Haven, Groomers Carma & Lisa, Wallace, Viv, Whitney, Tom and Nancy O., Carolyn, Nancy H., Dr. Kathy, Pablo & Hannah, and Claudia & Tera providing the food.
These clinics could not be run without the hard work and devotion of all the volunteers who give their time and effort in support of this great cause.
We were very busy at this clinic – every day we filled up quickly with animals to spay/neuter and also got quite a few surrendered animals.

We were lucky to find placements in the Twin Cities for some of these surrendered animals: Pet Haven took 3 kittens and 5 dogs/puppies, All Dog took 1 dog, Shih Tzu Rescue will be taking 1 dog after he heals from tail surgery and mange, ACT V Rescue took 2 kittens who needed to be bottle fed, and MN Pitbull Rescue took 2 puppies. We are so thankful to all of these rescues for stepping up and helping out!
One of the puppies who went to Pet Haven had been accidentally run over by his owner’s vehicle. Meagan took the little guy, now named Redby, to Bemidji for X-rays and thankfully he did not have any spine or pelvis damage. Both of his back legs were broken, however, so he was transported to the Twin Cities where he received the surgery he needed and is expected to make a full recovery.

At the very end of the clinic, when we were packing up and just about to leave, we decided that the big male Husky, who had been hanging around the clinic, needed to come back to the shelter. He has been named Wolfe and is doing well at the shelter as he minds to himself and gets along with everyone. We are so happy that he is safe, eating good meals, and getting mange treatment and antibiotics for Lyme’s disease.
Lastly, I wanted to thank Karen for all the hard work she does. None of this could be possible without her dedication to helping the animals in Red Lake and surroundings communities. She is truly an inspiration and a wonderful person!

If Red lake Rosie's could do only one activity it would be the high volume neuter/spay clinics. These are critical to end overpopulation and suffering of companion animals.

Thank you, Karen, for your hard work with the clinics. This one seemed especially exhausting (maybe because of the heat and humidity), but everyone did an exceptional job. Thanks also to Lauren and Mike, the medical team, and the terrific volunteers. It is always a good feeling knowing that this wonderful team work made a huge difference for these animals. Thank you everyone!
