Tilly -- a job well done

It's a good thing this litter of kittens didn't end up being fostered at my house -- black & white tuxedo kitties are my FAVS! And, check out Tilly's cute nose!

FROM PET HAVEN'S CAT BLOG:
Monday, November 1, 2010

Tilly is a very cute girl who came from Red Lake Rosies Rescue with 8 kittens. Tilly was an excellent and caring mom but 8 is enough to wear anyone out!

Tilly continued to feed and care for them for another couple of weeks after we took the kittens and then she was simply exhausted. The babies were eating dry and canned on their own and we gave her the break she deserved.

TILLYTillie (the new spelling of her name out of respect for a dearly loved relative in her new family) was the first of the group to be adopted! It doesn't happen very often that mom gets a new home before the kittens and we were all happy to see her off and able to be a playful and busy girl on her own.

Tillie loves to greet the guests in her new home, she plays and comes for attention, rubbing against ankles and racing up and down the stairs when she goes to visit grandma and grandpa's house.

Here are pictures of some of her babies too - 5 of the 8 have been adopted.

Give to the Max Day TODAY!

The Great Minnesota Give Together

Give to the Max Day returns as a day to inspire unprecedented levels of charitable giving in the state of Minnesota! Every donation you make gives your favorite organization the chance to win even more money. On November 16 your gift makes a BIG difference. Donate to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue by clicking on the giveMN.org box in the right pane of the screen.

Prizes
GiveMN is offering several incentives to inspire nonprofit and donor participation in Give to the Max Day:

A $20,000 and $10,000 prize grant will be awarded to the top two nonprofits in the Twin Cities and the top two nonprofits in Greater Minnesota that attract the largest number of individual donors on Give to the Max Day. Leader boards on GiveMN.org will track which nonprofits are ahead of the pack.

Throughout the event, an individual donor will be randomly chosen every hour to have $1,000 automatically go to the charity that received the donor’s original donation during that hour. Nonprofits of all sizes across the state will have the chance to benefit from these random drawings.

Rules
Who can participate in Give to the Max Day?
Any individual may donate. Donations through the GiveMN.org site to nonprofit organizations are tax deductible and irrevocable (donations will not be refunded). Contributions may be made via credit and debit card only.

Meet & Greet RLRR foster cats & dogs

Meet and Greet Red Lake Rosie's Rescue foster cats and dogs available for adoption!

When: Sat, November 13, 12pm – 2pm
Where: PETSMART at 494/35W in Richfield

Tarping Party 2010

The RLRR winter preparations were made just in time! The weather is changing here now and we are feeling evidence of winter just around the corner.

AMY & DENISEDeeDee brought two new friends of RLRR, Denise and Amy, over the weekend of October 23 and 24. The kennel tarping was almost all completed by the very hard-working team. What a great blessing.

When the work was over Amy decided to take Yana in as a foster dog for Pet Haven. As you can see by the pictures Yana was clearly "buttering her up" with kisses.

YANA & AMYYana had a rough start and and when came to the shelter she was suffering from malnutrition, mange, and contracted parvo. She made it to the clinic and was spayed and became one of the favorite dog personalities.

She is very sweet and fun-loving and we are so happy she is now in good hands with Amy and Pet Haven.

We want to thank all the tarp and zip-tie donors as well as the people who helped put them up including Jeff, Andrea, Amy, DeeDee and Denise.

MOHAVEThis group also transported Mohave to MARS. He came in very malnourished, and went to the clinic where he has diagnosed as parvo positive. This little guy is a strong fighter and recovered very quickly. He is on the shy side and runs away from us. Hopefully the foster home will help him gain the confidence he needs.
He is darling.

YANA KISSAMY WROTE:
It was very nice to meet you, Karen, and see the shelter. Both Denise and I will be back to do more. Yana is doing very well. She slept the whole way home and got a quick bath last night before sleeping for 10 hours.

Colin loves her already and she gives him puppy kisses and ear nibbles. She and Jake are figuring out how to play together. Laura asked if she could be in the Pet Haven Benefit fashion show!

Meet & Greet RLRR foster cats & dogs

Meet and Greet Red Lake Rosie's Rescue foster cats and dogs available for adoption!

When: Sat, November 13, 12pm – 2pm
Where: PETSMART at 494/35W in Richfield

THESE GUYS WILL BE THERE AMONG THE REST:
I took in a cat from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue with a belly full of kittens, ticks in her coat, and a BB in her butt. Well, the ticks were removed right away and she gave birth to the kittens just a couple of days after arriving at my house. The vets removed the BB when they did her spay surgery. She is anxious for her fur to grow back, but even more anxious to find a new home.

CHARLOTTEI named her Charlotte after my favorite cousin. She is a lovely young gray tuxedo with sort of a sweet old-fashioned attitude. I think this was her first and last batch of kittens. She was a wonderful mom, but she did seem a bit dismayed and overwhelmed when they were first born.

CHARLOTTEShe has four beautiful kittens -- three girls and one boy. All are ready for new homes, fully vetted and spayed or neutered. They all have wonderful calm personalities and respond well to respectful children.

AMELIAAmelia is the smallest by a little bit, but she has always been the most adventurous. She is a dilute tortie (gray and tan) and I love the freckled look of her face.

SERENASerena is standard tortie (black and orange). She and Amelia are best buds and they are generally playing or sleeping together. What a darling pair! She is a little shy about new things, so going to a home with a sibling or mom would be great for her.

SERENA & AMELIASAMANTHASamantha is the princess. A dilute calico with medium length fur and a funny clown face. She is as laid back as a rag-doll cat. Happy most of the time to lay around and be decorative.

DARENDaren is the only boy. He is in a growth spurt now. I call him my little bear with his cute face and gray tabby fur. He hides a perfect white bikini on his abdomen that I love. Don't let his serious face fool you, he is a lover and Samantha definitely has a crush on him.

DAREN & SAMANTHAYou can see more photos and read more about these kitties on our website. Fill out and submit an adoption application if you would be interested in meeting them in their foster home in Minneapolis.
