Linda's first visit to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue had a very pleasant visit from Linda Hultquist of Minneapolis. She arrived on November 1 and stayed until November 4 when she took out a transport of 5 dogs/pups and 3 cats/kittens with hopes for a new life.

LINDA & DOVERLinda took care of the cats, cleaned in cathouse, did dishes, and lots of laundry helping us get all caught up. Also worked on more tarping projects and weatherizing as well as a trip to the vet.

OLIVIA & OSIRISOSIRISWhen Linda left she took Osiris and Olivia, 2 lab/shep mixes that came in to the clinic as surrenders. They were very thin, dehydrated, and frightened. Since then have gained weight as well as confidence. They were both spayed and vaccinated at the clinic. Osiris went to All Dog and Olivia went to Tricounty.

BENNIEBENNIEBenny a little spitfire beagle juvenile came in to the shelter and went to All Dog. He is darling and has so much energy. He was surrendered by a resident of the Circle Pines Projects. Benny strayed in and stayed a while but kept getting beat up by the other dogs so he came to the shelter.

TANYASTELLALittle Tanya got her first bath last night, and left today for Tricounty with another little shep pup Stella.

LITTLE KITTENSLADY GAGAMike and Lauren took 2 little kittens and Lady GaGa, a siamese juvenile into foster care.

LINDA & TRANSPORTThank you to Linda who is a very hardworking woman who I could barely keep up with and all the receiving groups and foster homes for taking the animals.

Mangy pups in recovery

Caring Hands took on three mangy spaniel mix puppies from RLRR, Tanya, Teka and Toto (renamed Tessa). Check out the amazing before and after photos. Foster mom, Kate, notes that "They are not good at posing and sitting still!! : ) "

Red Lake residents support RLRR

Tony and Vonnie of Red Lake have been very helpful to RLRR for the past year. They have been rescuing and transporting animals to the shelter on a regular basis and are supplied gas for the trips.

TONY & VONNIETony works for Red Lake Housing and is sent all over the reservation and in his daily travels he sees many dogs and pups in need. He calls one of the RLRR people and then will bring the animal. He has saved over 200 this past year.

We have been very hopeful about the reduction of cases of mange in dogs, but last week Tony and Vonnie brought 6 very mangey animals in three trips to the shelter.

MISTERThey brought 4 puppies on the first trip. These pups came from the Ponemah dump. We have named the larger pup Mister. The three smaller ones are Toto, Tanya and Taneka.

TOTO, TANYA, TANEKAThen a day later they brought a husky we call Jewelz. She happens to be a sister to Rusty the puppy that went to Dino Beuge last winter that had been immersed in motor oil as a treatment for mange. He got sick and was surrendered to us, however Jewelz was not. Now they have decided to surrender her, as her mange continued to worsen.

JEWELZThen a day after that they arrived with a female shep we call Jonnie Cakes, Her bags were large but there were no puppies with her. She is a wonderful dog.

JONNIE CAKESWe want to thank Tony and Vonnie for their dedication in bringing cats and dogs to the shelter. Now all these animals have hope for a brighter future.

Lauren and Mike gave the four mangey pups, Mister, Toto, Tanya, and Teneka, all a special bath when they visited and they took them to foster care with Terresa, RLRR Petfinder foster and manager, and Kate, Caring Hands.
