Raven, another three-legged RLRR pup, is adopted, too!

Raven was the puppy that came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue crying from the pain of a badly injured leg. See earlier post HERE.

He went to foster care with Carver Scott Humane Society and his leg had to be amputated, but he is recovering well and has already been adopted into a loving forever home. What a lucky boy after all!

Our thanks to Jean at Carver Scott!

Raven cries for help

One cold Friday night, Raven, a little black lab shepherd mix, came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue as a surrender. This little boy had been run over by a car and was so sad -- he appeared to have a tear in his eye when he arrived.

Immediately, we started sending out his picture and story asking for help.

Jeanne of Carver Scott responded and took Raven into their care. Unfortunately, the leg was damaged to the point that it had to be amputated :-(

Raven is happy now and through his surgery with hopes for a new home and a safe environment in the future.

We get weekly and sometimes daily calls on injured and sick animals here at Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue. We are thankful for our partners and supporters who help us with this expensive treatment and care giving hope to many like Raven.

We also want to thank our faithful partners Carver Scott Humane Society and Jean for investing in Raven’s future.

UPDATE FROM FOSTER:
Hi Karen,
The surgeon wasn't able to surgically correct Raven's leg, and recommended amputation. So, Raven is a member of the Tripod club and doing just fine. He's such a happy puppy. Thank you for trusting him to our care.

Raven: Fishhooks to Frisbees

Raven came to Red Lake Rosie's August 13th after a surrender because she had a 3 prong fishhook in her mouth. The vet removed it without too much trouble and she was taken to the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.
She was transferred into the foster care of Linda with All Dog Rescue where she developed new skills as a Frisbee catcher.
Raven is darling! Thank you All Dog and Linda for getting her ready for her forever home!

NOTES FROM ALL DOG RESCUE:
Hey there - my name is Raven! I was born approximately 6/8/2013.

I'm from northern Minnesota and was surrendered after I got too inquisitive and discovered the bait on the fishing pole that was left out was attached to a fish hook! Ouch! But I am now healed up and looking for a home that has lots of time, love, and the patience to work with me on my house training (which I am working on...

RAVEN ON PETFINDER:
This is Raven, who loves playing fetch more than anything in the world! She is looking for a home with an older large dog to show her the ropes, and with someone who loves to play fetch or frisbee as much as she does! Her petfinder page with more info and a link to our adoption application is here:http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/27117746

Raven revived

NOT SKINNY OR SAD NOW!!When we got Raven from Karen we could count every rib in his body. It was pathetic, the poor guy.

RAVEN BEFORE -- WHAT YOU LOOKIN' AT??He had bites out of his ears and just had that sad look in his eyes that we see all too often.

Well, that has all changed now, as you can see he is very healthy and very happy, plus he has a playmate (another dachshund).

Love those happy endings !!

Dino

Thank you Dino for the great update on Raven! What a transformation.

Mid-January transport

Kristin and Delores, both enrolled members of the Red Lake Band and lifetime residents of the metro area, came through once again for Red Lake animals and made a transport on January 16, 2010.

KRISTIN & DELORES WITH RAVENThis mother/daughter team are a great example of how native people are to treat the animals. They never let us down, and are always willing to transport, donate food and other supplies. Kristin relates that she remembers as a young child coming to visit Red Lake and often leaving in tears because of her "heart for the animals" and that is a big heart, I might add.

SNOWBALLDelores and Kristin been a great support of clinics and rescues on the Red Lake Reservation and for animals everywhere.

SUKAOn one of her first visits to RLRR, she rescued Annie. A blog is coming up (tomorrow) about that adventure and Annie's new life. Thank you Delores and Kristin. Great respect goes to you guys!!

JAYCEE BEFOREJAYCEE NOWWhat a happy transformation for Jaycee who went on this transport to Patti at Second Hand Dogs. Suka, Snowball and Big Red went to All Dog. Poor little Raven also came in emaciated, but this dachsund is now in a RLRR foster home.

23 animals turned in to RLRR in ONE day: HELP!

I know that all the rescues in the state are swamped with surrendered adult animals and unwanted kittens and puppies from unspayed and unneutered adults. We are working on spay/neuter, but at this moment we need to do our best to help these lives with nowhere to go through no fault of their own.

This is why "open door" facilities still exist. They can take in an endless number of animals because they use the option of euthanizing even adoptable animals. Humans need to be more responsible.

Please contact Karen directly if you can help or write to blog@redlakerosie.org.

Among the animals that came in yesterday:
RAVENRaven juvenile, petite, spayed, AHPP and Rabies shots, HW neg Lymes pos on doxy. Nice girl.
CLEOWILLAtotal litter of 5 sheps, lone pup, another lone pup, One larger pup
FIVE SHEP PUPS8 kittens -real small and of course Charlton, larger kitten who is getting healtier each day.
