In memory of Noreen/Lola

May she rest in peace. Karen

Hi, Karen & DeeDee;

I'm not sure if anyone has passed along the sad news that Lola (I believe she was Noreen at RLRR) passed away last month. She had been with us for several months undergoing heartworm treatment. She was adopted last June by a family that absolutely adored her; then in December she started having trouble breathing and the vet discovered that some of the heartworms had survived the treatment and had come back. She passed away during a new bout of treatment.

Her dad sent in some photos and a whole bunch of memories of Lola that we posted to our website - I thought you would like to see that even though they had her for only a few months, she was clearly adored and at least got to spend a good part of her life knowing love and happiness.

In happy news - her family adopted another All Dog Rescue dog just before Christmas, so even in their grief this family opened their hearts to another rescue dog.

La-la-la-la Lola

I'm fostering Noreen, who I'm calling Lola, and want to let you know she is doing very well. She completed a 2 month heartworm treatment through the wonderful Akin Hills Pet Hospital in Farmington and she's healthy, active, and living the life she deserves.

Lola loves her daily walks, running around the yard chasing away squirrels and bunnies (Thank you, Lola!) and she's learning the joy of the dog park. She was initially nervous around larger dogs, but she's starting to understand they are not a threat. Lola is also learning how to cuddle. It took her quite a while, but she will now jump on the couch when you tell her it's o.k. and either curl up beside you or try to sit on your lap. She's way too big to be a lap dog, but she doesn't know that and it's too funny when she does it to try to stop her.

Lola will certainly be adopted soon and her new home will be very fortunate to have such a loving girl. If I could handle 3 permanent dogs, Lola would be my "foster failure"! Check out her Petfinder page.

Thank you for taking care of Lola and for giving me and her future home a chance to have her in our lives!

Hugo is transformed into Koda Bear

Noreen and her pup were found living in a vacant house in Ponemah village where they had been abandoned when the people moved out. Here's a pic of Noreen and her little Hugo, the surviving pup hiding behind her.

According to a Housing staff worker who came in to remodel the house, Noreen and her litter lived in the house, and thankfully the door was left open so Noreen could go in and out searching for food. By time she was found a month later, only one pup remained, little Hugo.

They were brought to the shelter on February 11, scared and hungry. As time went on they turned out to be wonderful animals. Noreen became Mike's favorite. She was spayed March 12 and left to All Dog Rescue. Hugo went to Last Hope Rescue on March 1, 2009. Hugo has been adopted and I received an update on him and photos, below.

I'm so glad he has such a good home after his very difficult beginning.

Here's what Hugo's new family says:
Hi
We recently had the pleasure of adopting Hugo ( now Koda Bear ) He is adjusting very well. My fiance and I just purchased a house in December and love our new addition to our family. He is a very smart little guy. He already is telling us when he needs to go outside to go to the bathroom and just the other day went down a flight of stairs all on his own for the first time.
We were kind of curious about his mothers breed and what kind of info you have on her. We will keep you updated on the adventures of Hugo (Koda Bear)

Thanks,
N&M and Koda Bear

Transport of 15 dogs & pups on March 15

We are happy to report that we have placed 54 dogs and puppies from March 1 - March 15. I met Susan and Erica of All Dog Rescue and Dino at Tricounty Humane Society in St. Cloud where 15 dogs and puppies were placed.

SUSAN & ERICA
DINO & FRIENDS
PEPI & PETEY
Dino is fostering 3 puppies, Petey, Pepi, and Coretta who came in with 8 puppies severely malnourished. She also took Geraldo aka Spunky Monkey who came in as a surrender after he had been mauled by a large dog.

MONA
NOREEN

Mona and Noreen went to All Dog Rescue. Mona had been at the shelter only 2 days, and may be pregnant. Noreen came in with only one pup- Hugo. She was left for a month in an abandoned house after the family moved out. All pups died except Hugo. Now Hugo is placed, and Noreen is spayed. She has heartworm, anaplasmosis and lymes and All Dog Rescue is going to provide her treatment and find her a good home where she will never be left behind again.

JULIANNE
JULIANNE'S PUPS
Julianne and her litter of 6 went to a foster home for Tricounty Humane Society. Rhoda came to the shelter with her litter of 2 suviving pups, Ezebun and Makwa (Bear and Racoon). She was homeless and moved into an occupied dog house to have her babies in the cold January weather. Her puppies are placed and she is now spayed. Thankfully, she had lymes but no heartworm!!

RHODA
PRECIOUS
Rhoda also went to Tricounty. Precious went to Second Hand Dogs in Claremont, Minnesota.

I know you will enjoy the pictures.

Sincerely, Karen
