Once again Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation really stepped up to help out Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in the aftermath of the clinic last week when at least 58 animals were surrendered.
This tiny twosome- Petey (now Yuri) and Petra, were found homeless and freezing. Now they are eating kibble, lapping water and loving canned foods. They are in a foster home together.
Dear Loris is at a foster home near the vet clinic for easy access to treatment for her heartworm treatment
Pluto came in with a group of black lab mix puppies, but he became very ill. He is in the hospital for round-the-clock treatment. He needs good thoughts from everyone.

Story in photos

This poor, miserable, dirty, matted dog was an owner surrender at the March clinic - his name was Petey. The owner said she worked full time and, because he wouldn't stay close to the house like her other dogs, she worried about him getting hit by a car.
He was brought back to Animal Ark, re-named Carlos and was adopted within 3 days! A very lucky dog!

Same old story: starvation and mange
We had another transport on Saturday October 24 and I have lost count but I think it is 10 or 11 consecutive weeks of transports! Definitely a record-breaking time for us, and we are all hoping things will slow down.
I drove 15 dogs and puppies to Bemidji where I met the O'Sullivans, and they drove on to Motley to meet Barbara Olson, who went on to the metro to meet Dee Dee. It was a load of some very wonderful animals, many of whom suffered starvation and mange, who got a chance for a brighter future.
STARVING RENAE
RENAE AND HER PUPS
Renae was a bag of bones when she came in. Thankfully no mange was detected on her or her pups. She is eating regularly spaced mixed puppy kibble and canned foor which she gobbles up in less than 10 seconds. We are so happy that our generous donors send food to help starving animals such as Renae. Renae is young by looks of her teeth. She and her pups went to Animal Ark.
BABES IN THE WOODS
BABES IN THE WOODS
Babes in the Woods are two tiny husky mix puppies we found in the woods following a tip by a student. We saw the mama and daddy dogs, but could not catch them. They had mange so we left ivermectin in food for them. The puppies are very young- I would say 3-4 weeks old. Not in bad shape at all- eating moist canned and puppy milk replaced with a syringe They are very large for their age. They have no mange, but no doubt will develop it.
PEGGY IN HER SWEATER
PATTY IN HER SWEATER
PATTY & PEGGY
Patty and Peggy went to TLC Rescue.
REGINA
TINY REGINA
Regina also went into foster care with Linda for Animal Ark.
WHITE OWL
We found White Owl, Ronelle and Jocelyn at the same place. White Owl was hungry but not as bad as the girls. He is really packing away the puppy kibble. He got his lst parvo/dis shot, ivermectin treatment. Jocelyn and White Owl went to Pet Projects.
JOCELYN
JOCELYN
Jocelyn came in starving -- near death. She is a husky mix about 12-16 weeks old. She walks hunched over from losing strength on her hind legs and could not hold up her head on the way to the shelter. Now She is eating good quality meals at regular intervals and LOVES her little dog house and her straw bedding. She is so happy to be rescued. I started ivermectin for her mange, but no parvo shot yet as she is too weak.
CHUBS
Char and Chubs went to Tricounty Humane Society. Chubs is a little tan and white male shep /lab mix. Very sweet and in fairly good shape. He got wormed, and his first parvo/dis shot
JESSICA'S SCARS
JESSICA
Jessica, a german shepherd went to Second Hand Dogs.
RONELLE
RONELLE'S SORES
Ronelle, a Saint mix, female, about a year, came in starving with sores on her legs and ears from mange. She has a darling personality. She is getting small portions of puppy kibble and canned at regular intervals and has started ivermectin treatments. She went into foster care with Dee Dee.
Petey, a cute little doxie mix, is also in one of our Red Lake Rosie foster homes.
A special thank you to the Red Lake community members who rescue animals, our metro support team, our Petfinder fosters, our transporters, the rescues that take the animals, and our faithful financial supporters.
We need all of these valuable players on our team or we could never hope to accomplish the level of help we are providing to the Red Lake animals. I am amazed at what we have done together!!

Update on pups Pepi & Petey and friends
Here's an update on Pepi, Petey and the little white shep pups that went to Dino for foster care. Pepi almost died the night he arrived as he was so hungry he got food stuck in his airway and Tony had to clear his airway.
Aren't they beautiful? We have 5 more of the litter still at the shelter looking for a rescue to take them on Easter Sunday which is our next transport.
Karen

Here's what Dino says:
I wanted to give you an update on Pepi (the little boy) he is in the first picture, and as you can tell he is doing great. The other two are together in the 2nd picture and healthy as can be. They will be getting adopted out in the next week or so.

Transport of 15 dogs & pups on March 15
SUSAN & ERICA
DINO & FRIENDS
PEPI & PETEY
Dino is fostering 3 puppies, Petey, Pepi, and Coretta who came in with 8 puppies severely malnourished. She also took Geraldo aka Spunky Monkey who came in as a surrender after he had been mauled by a large dog.
MONA
NOREEN
Mona and Noreen went to All Dog Rescue. Mona had been at the shelter only 2 days, and may be pregnant. Noreen came in with only one pup- Hugo. She was left for a month in an abandoned house after the family moved out. All pups died except Hugo. Now Hugo is placed, and Noreen is spayed. She has heartworm, anaplasmosis and lymes and All Dog Rescue is going to provide her treatment and find her a good home where she will never be left behind again.
JULIANNE
JULIANNE'S PUPS
Julianne and her litter of 6 went to a foster home for Tricounty Humane Society. Rhoda came to the shelter with her litter of 2 suviving pups, Ezebun and Makwa (Bear and Racoon). She was homeless and moved into an occupied dog house to have her babies in the cold January weather. Her puppies are placed and she is now spayed. Thankfully, she had lymes but no heartworm!!
RHODA
PRECIOUS
Rhoda also went to Tricounty. Precious went to Second Hand Dogs in Claremont, Minnesota.
I know you will enjoy the pictures.
Sincerely, Karen
