Heather & Jersey celebrate Halloween

Jersey wanted to tell everyone at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue Happy Halloween!

She didn't win the Bubbly Paws costume contest on Saturday but she won 2nd place for best costume at Adogo's contest.

She was so good and had so much fun!

Maybe next year she can take 1st place.

RLRR Booth at 2011 Pet Expo - Best Yet!

A big Thank You from Karen to Lynn and all the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue supporters who participated in this event! Search the blog for the dog's names below to learn their stories as previously shared on the blog.

Our fourth year at the Pet Expo continued to be a wonderful opportunity for people to learn about Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

BOOTH DISPLAYOur dedicated volunteers shared information about Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, sold handmade items and proudly showed off their beautiful and smart Red Lake dogs. Many people stopped by the booth and told us about their lovable Red Lake dogs and cats that they adopted.

We raised $1,135 in sales and $180 in donations for a total of $1,315. That's over 40% more than last year - thanks to all the talented people who shared their handmade items with us, and to the donors who appreciate what Red Lake Rosie's Rescue does!

FINNFinn (Huckleberry Finn) is waiting to be with his new family until after he is neutered.

Jersey & Ginger: Just two peas in a pod

Updates on Red Lake dogs Jersey (formerly Jazzy) and Ginger (formerly Aurelia)). Heather took Jersey home to foster after a clinic and then adopted her. Crystal fostered Ginger until she was adopted by Heather's friend Erin!

This is from daycare this morning.
Do you think Jersey has a little bit of energy to burn off?

This is why we do doggy daycare.

Heather

FROM GINGER'S FOSTER MOM CRYSTAL:
Ginger came to me before Christmas. Karen rescued her from an abandoned house where she had been locked in without food or water for a week. Karen's niece, Heather, has a Red Lake dog named Jersey that is almost identical.

Heather and her good friend Erin came out to see Ginger. Erin had tragically lost her dog in a fire several months ago. As the pictures show, Erin and Ginger definitely connected. Heather and Erin can tell you more about their dogs going to Doggy Day Care together and having loads of fun.

Here is Ginger looking pretty happy with her new Mom. Thanks for giving her a great life.

Crystal

FROM HEATHER ABOUT ERIN & GINGER:
Erin is so in love, as is my dog Jersey. As hoped, Ginger and Jersey are complete best friends. Ginger now goes to daycare at the same place Jersey goes and even the people there can tell that they are two peas in a pod.

I would totally send you a picture but when the two are together, there is absolutely NO holding still. We still cant take them for a walk together as all they want to do and play the whole time and wont stop to do their business.

Ginger is settling in nicely at Erin's house and is displaying "pretty good" manners. She still wants to chase the cats which probably comes from the terrier in her but she knows her name very well and listens to Erin and gives her complete attention.

She LOVES her treats, toys, and bed. She plays the whole time at daycare and comes home and crashes out on the couch. Attached is a picture of her after her 2nd day of daycare.

I hope your little ones are stress free now that the giant bundle of puppy energy is gone. You did a great job taking care of Ginger and allowing her sweet personality to blossom. Erin is forever grateful and appreciates you helping Ginger and fostering her.

Take care,
Heather

Jazzy Jersey

Jazzy came in to the clinic from Ponemah in August clinic. The people did not pick her up and we ended up taking her back to Redby. The owners, however, caught up to us on the highway and when they found out Jazzy, then only 3.5 lbs had mange they decided against taking her back. They had found her at the garbage dump a few days before the clinic.

Heather, a clinic volunteer, had decided to take Jazzy into foster care. It was discovered Jazzy also had Giardia and a broken bone in her toe.

Here's the update on this little girl and the "foster failure" of Heather and her husband Mike. Doesn't she look beautiful!!

Thank you for adopting her!! She is definitely a keeper!

Peace- Karen RLRR

Hi Karen,

I just wanted to drop you a not to let you know that my "fostering"
of Jazzy did not work out so well and I have failed. Mike & I have grown so attached to her that the thought of her leaving us breaks our heart so we have decided to keep her ;-)

Mike didn’t like the name Jazzy so we decided to change it to Jersey as this is similar and did not confuse her. She is a wild yet wonderful bundle of energy. She loves to run and chew. We have given her some of the most indestructible chew toys and that has saved our furniture, rugs, and walls. :) Thank goodness we are almost through the teething stage.

She is very smart and learned to sit long ago. She is now learning lay down, stay, fetch, drop it, & leave it. She is catching on very quickly. She loves other dogs and goes to puppy play time every Saturday. We also start puppy kindergarten this Weds. I'm so excited to see what she can do.

She's a good walker and potty trained pretty quickly. She is still ravenous when she eats but is much better about taking treats.

She has grown from her original 3.5 lbs to her current 22 lbs and she continues to grow like a weed. I think that at this stage she is definitely going to outgrow Lily & possibly even Saber.

Everyone in the neighborhood just loves her and are excited to watch her grow. When the humane society van was at my house right before your last clinic to pick up the kennels and other supplies I had, one of my neighbors called me because she was worried that Jersey was leaving to go to another home. I assured her that she was safe & sound inside, asleep on her pillow.

Well, my quick note has become a long one so I will wrap it up. I hope you are doing well and that everything at the shelter continues to work out okay. I look forward to coming up and helping you at future clinics and other times after I am done with school in January 2011. I estimate I will have a lot more time after that. The only condition is that I don’t "foster" anymore animals. :)

Please take care!
Heather & Mike (proud parents)
Jersey, Saber & Lily (pampered puppies)
Chloe, Alex, Allaura & Zelda (crazy kitties) Balina (huge horse) Cadbury & Mama Bunny (beautiful bun buns)
