Chuck and Harvey find homes through Pet Haven

PET HAVEN'S DOG BLOG FEATURING PLACEMENT OF FORMER RLRR DOGS:
Monday, July 12, 2010
We've had an exciting couple of months here at Pet Haven and the best part is that deserving dogs are getting a 2nd (or 3rd...or 4th) chance at a happy and safe life.

From our small dog division of Pet Haven, we've had several happy tails come true in the last couple of weeks.

HARVEY BEFOREHARVEY AFTERHarvey, the grey Shih-tzu in the photo above, was one of our lucky pups who just recently found his forever home. Way to go Harvey! And thanks to foster volunteer Vicki for loving this guy until his new family was found.

CHUCKY BEFORECHUCKY AFTERChucky was another Shih-tzu that was brought in with Harvey. Here's a photo of now Chumley with his new mom, Pat. Chucky received lots of attention at our adoption event and we're so happy we found him the perfect forever home! Thank you Lisa for fostering Chucky!

We wish all of our Pet Haven dogs many long years of good health and happiness in their new homes. Please tell your families to keep us updated on your new life!

Dogs transported after the June clinic

We have had a few dog transports since the Animal Ark / Akin Hills clinic.

We had a call on Sunday May 30th that Emery, a smaller breed dog was injured the previous night, cause unknown. The owner thought it may be a bear attack, as little Emery was known to fend off bears. The owner did not have the money to take Emery to the vet so he was surrendered.

His side was gashed open so Clearwater Vet sewed him up and he remained at the shelter until June 5th. Dr. Bartsch of Akin Hills was thankfully here during the clinic to redo the surgery and insert a drain tube.

Carol provided "round the clock" care for him at the warehouse and lots of tlc. We are so thankful that All Dog took Emery on Sunday and we are very hopeful for a full recovery. Thank you all for helping Emery move on from a very dire situation to one of hope.

MUTT & JEFFMutt and Jeff also went to All Dog Rescue.

BENNYJeanette transported Benny to MARS.

HARVEYCHUCKYZEKEHarvey, Chucky and Zeke went to Pet Haven.

SMITHSmith, german shepherd pup, went to Tricounty Humane Society.

MILES & PUFFYMaria, a mama dog, and her two pups, Miles and Marla went to Animal Ark.

Groomer

One of the great heroes of the clinic was Lynn of Pampered Pet Spa who volunteered and groomed and bathed about 20 dogs during the clinic. She arrived with the Akin Hills Pet Hospital group.

HARVEY BEFOREGrooming is a very severe need we have here. Many smaller breed dogs in particular are not groomed and suffer as a result. Also many chow and chow mixes get very matted.

HARVEY AFTEROne of the chow mixes pictured had to be shaven. Lynn found a fishhook in the fur of this poor dog.

GROOMER LYNN AND CHOWThe following day this dog was walking around it's neighborhood in Redby and a person made the report there was a red dog that had mange so bad ALL HIS HAIR WAS MISSING. Heidi and Karen answered the call with ivermectin, only to find the dog had visited the clinic and was groomed!! Heidi and I had a good laugh.

FISHHOOK FROM CHOWLynn does about 7 - 8 grooms daily and says she definitely plans to come back. Thank you Lynn and any others who helped with the grooming and bathing.
