Kittens & Kibble!!

Karen has notified me of two significant needs for Red Lake Rosie's Rescue:

KIBBLE!!
Dear Friends:

We have a very low inventory of dog kibble at this time after the two clinics where we gave away to those dogs in community with no food.

RLRR NEEDS A PILE OF FOOD!Most of what is left is the individual packets which we will have to open and put in tubs for feeding. We probably have enough for 2 weeks. We have enough cat kibble and canned.

DENISE CAN TRANSPORT IT ON SUNDAY!Thank you for providing food in the past and we hope to get more soon.

Sincerely, Karen and RLRR

Contact Denise at blog@redlakerosie.org for drop off locations for food or make a donation to our PayPal account.

KITTENS!!
Also, there were a number of adult cats and kittens surrendered at the last two clinics.

CLEONA AND HER 2-3 WEEK OLD KITTENSWe need to find rescues or foster homes to take them. It is especially important that the mama cats Cleona and Leona with their young kittens get out of the cat house and into foster care.

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue Foster Program

In addition to relying on many animal rescue groups to help find homes for the homeless dogs and cats of Red Lake, RLRR also has a small foster care program of their own.

These dedicated volunteers provide temporary homes and special care for dogs and cats that are too young or sick or unsocialized for immediate placement. A foster home prepares them for a forever home.

The dogs and cats of Red Lake come in every size, color and pattern. Some of these photos are from "Meet & Greet" events where the fosters caregivers bring their animals to a place where the public can come and learn more about Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

Moneya and pups need homes

In mid October, 2009 Red Lake Rosie's volunteers found Moneya and her litter of 7 at a house in Redby, Minnesota. The people who lived there had accidentally driven over one of the puppies and it appeared it had a broken jaw.
Moneya
The mother, Moneya was malnourished and her puppies were hungry. Their hair was sparse and they itched due to mange mites. They had no shelter and wandered around a yard near a highway with no fence. The people would not give up any, not even the poor little injured pup!

Roxy
Two weeks passed and Moneya and her family got more hungry and left their "home", and went looking for food. Now they were homeless and walking around from place to place in hopes of finding something to eat. By this time there were only 4 pups and Moneya.
One of the social programs contacted Red Lake Rosie's and they were able to take Moneya and her four kids.

Lydia
A day later and a call came that another of Moneya's pups was also found near death, our little black and white Lydia. So, they then returned her to her family. Lydia was skin and bones and needed to had special feedings and nearly died.

The whole family has been on an antiparasitic, which killed the mange mites and they are regrowing hair and gaining weight. The pups were weaned from their mama and Moneya has since been spayed, and has gotten her shots. She is positive for Lymes and Anaplasmosis and is currently taking antibiotics.

Zoey
Akin Animal Hospital took out 2 male pups on their last visit, leaving
Lydia, Roxy, and Zoey with Moneya at the Red Lake Rosie's shelter. With winter fully arrived (last night was -12 below actual temperature) they are anxious to help the rest of the family get to foster care. MARS has stepped in to help and is seeking foster homes so we are able to bring these poor dogs in to our rescue.

They are wonderful, lovely, well socialized and are so happy to be eating and getting better. Please contact Minnesota Animal Rescue Services if you are interested in fostering or adopting any of these dogs.

Mama Mia

Dear Denise:

Mia came to the shelter very pregnant 2 weeks ago. She is a wonderful cat, and soon caught the attention of Melissa and her two young daughters who volunteer at the shelter.

They decided they wanted to take Mia and foster her at their home in Thief River Falls. Well it didn't take long until they fell in love with Mia and decided to adopt her.

We just got an email that five little kitties were born yesterday.
They are getting great care and love from Melissa, Autumn and Brooklyn.

As soon as the kittens are weaned they will come to the shelter and move on the new homes. Mia will be spayed and become a part of the foster's family.

Thank you so much for helping Mia. Sincerely, Karen and RLRR
