Merlin & May

May and her sister April were semi-feral kittens when they came from Red Lake to a foster home in the Twin Cities last fall. May was adopted first and we have an update from her new home with her new fur buddy Merlin.

May is adjusting well. Merlin was very annoyed at first and he sulked in his kitty bed for about a week, but there was never any tension between them. Merlin nor May ever tried to attack each other and there was no hissing either. May used to stay hidden down in the basement on a desk, but now she stays up and plays with us in the living room.

MERLIN & MAYMerlin has gradually warmed up to her and now he doesn't care if she's around. They've even started playing together sometimes. They both like to run up and down the stairs, and May really likes chasing after the laser pointer. May's become very friendly and she likes to sit on our laps on the couch, although she does occasionally slip off. She is a bit greedy when it comes to food and I now have to stand over Merlin while he's eating to make sure she doesn't zip in and eat his food. I've included a picture of her and Merlin sitting in the scratching post chair
together!

Buttons has become a Duchess

NOTE FROM ADOPTER TO PETHAVEN:
We re-named her Duchess, because my boyfriend and I think she acts like royalty! I sent you five pictures, because my boyfriend said just to send them all. I love taking pictures of her, because she's so unbelieveably gorgeous!

DOWNY COMFORTDuchess is very particular about when she wants to snuggle and when she wants to play, but her big blue eyes will tell you right away which one she wants to do.

MOOSE TOYShe loves to sleep in my dresser drawers, so if I leave them open for too long she'll jump right in them. The picture with the moose is her sleeping in one of the drawers that we have out because it's broken, but we put her blanket you gave us in there so she sleeps there all the time.

UNDER THE COVERSShe and our other cat, Elvis, play as much of the day as they can. When it's time for them to sleep, he usually follows her until she lays down, and then lays as close to her as she'll allow. When it's Mike and my bed time she jumps in bed with me, and snuggles next to Elvis on my legs.

UP HIGH AND STRETCHING OUTShe plays through the bottom of the chairs under the table, which I can't help but laugh at, and she feels the need to be as high up as she can possibly be. If she's in play mode we have to make sure the bathroom door is closed, or we'll hear her screaming with joy as toilet paper is torn all across as many floors as she can get it.

BLINK!My favorite thing she does, though, is clean up after Elvis. He makes a mess of the food, so if it's all over the floor, she'll dig it back next to the food dish as best as she can.

Thank you so much for giving me such a wonderful little lady! I'm sorry I wrote so much, but I just love to talk about her!

Update on Tessa (f/k/a Mona)

NOTE FROM JODI with Cause4Paws:
I’m not sure if you guys remember this cat but she was from the RAVS clinic last year and had the week-old tiny babies with her. She came from the same home as Pete the poorly adjusted dog. This cat had the tail frozen off from last winter when she was an outdoor cat and spent the winter in the doghouse with Pete. She was relinquished to the owner’s probation officer and this kitty gave birth to 5 kittens at the probation officer’s home on July 11. The kitty went to the HSUS/RAVS spay/neuter clinic and afterwards I took Mona and babies home until all were adopted.

NOTE FROM ADOPTERS:
We adopted Mona, now Tessa, a couple of months ago. She has adapted really well to her new home and to the other cats. She has especially taken to our year old Coon cat. The two of them tear around the house like a pair of maniacs chasing each other and pretend fighting. I can't remember seeing a pair of cats who loved to run as much as these two. They started playing with each other within the first couple of weeks she was here.

She and my son Matthew have really bonded. She spends each night in his room, often sleeping on his stomach. You can tell that she considers him to be her person.
Almost from the first day she was here she showed that she was pretty outgoing. She is not afraid to tell you that she doesn't like something and will complain rather loudly about being taken off of a chair when a person wants to use it
.
She is very healthy and has gained about a pound since she got here. She does want to eat people food whenever she gets a chance, but we haven't had a very hard time keeping her away from that.

I've attached a couple of pictures of her. Hope you enjoy them as much as we are enjoying her. She is really a terrific addition to our house.
