Spike is a "velcro" dog

I'm sure you are anxious for an update on Spike who was starving in a kennel with a little pup who had died. Spike is doing great in his Pet Haven foster home and is ready to find his forever home :-)

FOSTER MOM LAURA REPORTS:
Spike is a perfect gentleman. He has been in a house before because he went right up the stairs which rez dogs normally do not do. And he is housetrained. He knows how to sit and even though he was starved he takes treats very nicely.

He started playing fetch with a toy. It was so cute. He was prancing around like he was having a ball. He loves to nap in the sun and get as many pets as a human's two hands can give.

Spike may have some lasting hip issues because of the malnutrition. We are supplementing his diet and doing some therapy so hopefully he can gain some rear leg muscle tone.

"I will get some pics soon, I LOVE him already.

Spike wants you to know that some days are tough and some days are a nap in the sunshine.

FURTHER UPDATE: I have a hard time getting a good shot of Spike. He is such a velcro dog. (NOTE: A "velcro" dog just won't leave your side :-)

He is doing great. He gets along with all the dogs that come through here. He is at a good weight now and he had his first bath; his coat is very shiny. He will be attending his first Pet Haven adoption this Sat Feb 4th at the Richfield Petco from 11-1pm.

Spike & Phoenix, both former Red Lake Rosie's Rescue dogs, now with Pet Haven had the chance to meet and play together recently. Check out the great video of them playing together!

FROM RESCUE BUDDY BOARDING & BEYOND BLOG:
Well, look who came out to play today with our current Pet Haven foster Spike. Phoenix was here for the day and it was heartwarming to see these two having so much fun with each other.

For those of you who do not know these two, both had rough lives not that long ago. Just goes to show how living in the moment can heal the body and the soul.

Who knows maybe they will be seeing even more of each other. Shhh secret plans. more later.
