Phoenix is flourishing

Karen and many Red Lake Rosie's Rescue volunteers first met Phoenix as a tiny pup when he was brought into a clinic last year.

He had been found in the woods and the Red Lake family that found him planned to keep him. Sadly, this spring Karen got a call that he needed help. He had apparently been hit by a car and was very thin and injured.

Red Lake Rosie's took him in and then sent him to Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation for care of his medical issues, and finally Pet Haven provided a foster home for him.

Three rescues willing to work together to help this one dog is a wonderful thing, not just for Phoenix, but as an example of how rescues can maximize their resources and accomplishments through cooperation.

UPDATE FROM MARILOU OF PETHAVEN:
Phoenix wanted me to send this photo to all of you who were a part of his rescue ... i got to hang out with him at the adoption event today. He is doing great and made lots of new friends at the adoption event ... there is a whole lot of puppy in this boy!! He is doing so well and it just warms my heart to see the puppy spirit in him shining brightly again! Thanks again for all you did for this sweet boy ;-) You all played a big part in his rescue!! ;-)

Karen, thank you once again for rescuing Phoenix, for reaching out to Laura and myself, and for bringing us together with Vicki.

kisses from Phoenix!! :)

Wow! What an amazing transformation. Thank you to all who helped Phoenix. I love how the dog's eyes literally change from dead and lifeless to sparkling!

What a heartwarming story for Phoenix after a rough start in
life. It continues to amaze me
that these lost souls are so
resilliant and forgiving.

Actually Phonix was found in the woods in a remote area, not at the dump. karen

He is looking so good! Can't wait to see the full recovery. Hair is filling in and he's putting some weight on. What a beauty.

Thanks again for the updates on Otis (aka Phoenix) as his former owner, I must point out that he was not found at a dump NOR was he attacked by dogs.
He was found miles from civilization by my father when he was out at his fishing spot.
As to why I had to relinquish my precious boy, he was hit by a car and left for dead for who knows how long before I came home from school and went looking for him.

He was loved with me, his short year in which I was blessed to be his mom was a full one. I take offense to anyone who says he had a hard life.

Thanks for the clarification on Otis/Phoenix's story and thank you for giving him his first chance at life by saving him as a pup and his second chance by giving him up when he needed extra care after his accident. We can all celebrate how well he is doing because we all love him.

Seeing his pic when he was injured, I didn't doubt for a minute that he was attacked by another dog and seriously injured. That can happen here on the reservation at any moment! Our family dog was attacked in his own yard by a male and female pitbull 2 yrs ago. He survived but was injured badly on his hind quarter. So glad to hear Phoenix has recovered and is looking forward to healthy days! ^_^
