Emma is happy in her new home

FROM PET HAVEN'S DOG BLOG:

Ella, aka Emma aka LuWanda, is a medium-sized, mixed breed dog who came from Red Lake with her sister Lola. They were said to be German Shepherd mixes, but looking at Ella's recent pictures and knowing that she weighs 29 pounds at eight months of age -- let's just say that we're skeptical.

Here's a brief update from her new mom:

She LOVES playing in the snow and playing with all her toys. We took her to the vet yesterday and they said she is perfectly healthy and has already grown to 29lbs.! We are excited to take her home to Iowa over Christmas so she can meet the rest of our families.

Wanda/Luwanda now Lola/Emma

Remember Wanda & Luwanda? Check out their new names and new video!

FROM PET HAVEN'S DOG BLOG:
Meet Lola and Emma!

Both these pups came to Pet Haven from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue ... Bart (who was featured on an earlier post) also came from Red Lake Rosie's. One of the things we have come to realize is that the Red Lake dogs are truly mutts of mutts. We never know what mix of breed they are. Often your guess is as good as our's :) Many of us took stabs at guessing Bart's breed when he arrived, and his new mom ended up getting a DNA test ... well, no surprise, we were all wrong!! :)

So ... to answer your question of what breed are Emma and Lola. Well, we're told they are shepherd mixes. They probably do have some shepherd in them, but the beautiful thing about these Red Lake dogs is that they are mixed with who knows what ... and it's often a pleasant surprise! One thing is for sure though, they are adorable. And in the words of their foster mom: "they both rate 10 on the scale."

Their foster mom goes on to say, "Emma is a toe biter so we have to watch our feet. Both are fearless and explored the entire back yard in the first five minutes. They can really run fast on those short legs."

Both pups have been spayed and have had their second round of shots so are up for adoption.

LOLAAnd more from foster mom:
"Lola 6 pounds, brown/black female. She chases the cats so don't know if a home with cats is a good idea. Lola loves people, gets along great with my grandson and is friendly with our other dogs. She is extremely playful and feisty. Lola loves to play tug of war and chase small stuffed animals. When she is sleepy she enjoys cuddling.

EMMAEmma, 7 pounds, gold female. Emma doesn't like our cats and even bit poor Taz in the face (he is our most docile cat). Emma loves to chase. Whether it be stuffed animals, her sister Lola or us, running around the backyard is a favorite activity. Emma is very playful and friendly. She also gets along great with our other dogs, small children and adults. She loves to be held and cuddled like a baby."

Two RLRR favorites from the last clinic, sister pups Wanda & Luwanda, are at Pet Haven now with the new names of Lola & Emma. Pet Haven Dog Blog has announced that Lola is the new FACE of PetHaven on Facebook!

Also, check out Ahnung the former Red Lake dog's blog for a story about Ahnung's new brother dog, Mister, and how he had a chance to help with a home visit for a potential adopter.

More thanks & pics from August clinic

On reflection of the recent clinic, I am still amazed at how smooth everything went and how well everyone worked as a team. I wanted to thank you again for all of your hard work. You and the other volunteers literally do the dirty work with a smile on your faces! Without you, we would be lost, hungry, and covered in dog poop!

I was also wondering if you could pass along my thanks to the other volunteers that worked the clinic. We passed around a contact list, but it is not complete by far. I really want to thank all who helped with this clinic! It was a great experience, and I hope we can all work together again.

Thanks again for all of your work and dedication!

Puppies need foster homes

Hello again everyone!

It's been CRAZY for RLRR right now. Good time for the "boss" DeeDee to leave me in charge! LOL.

We have four puppies who need to get into foster homes. I believe Karen Good (the person who takes in all these dogs in Red Lake) wants to do another transport this weekend. They are having a spay/neuter clinic so she is QUITE busy right now.

I have attached photos of the puppies who need to be fostered.

WANDA & LUWANDAWe are getting in a shitzu dog too but that baby already has a foster and MAYBE a new home. Let's keep our paws crossed, shall we?

Wanted to keep everyone informed of what we have been doing besides working hard at fostering!

On Monday, the 10th, watch the website. I will be adding 9 puppies to the website. Yes, NINE. :) They are cuter than cute but what puppy isn't? :) All these babies will be ready on the 20th. I am also adding a little kitten who will HOPEFULLY be ready on the 20th also. She needs to gain ONE pound in order to be spayed!

I'm working on another foster home and a foster home who wants to take in animals when people are on vacation. :) We are really moving up in the world.

LACYWe are trying to get approved to be at Maple Grove PetSmart in Sept. We are VERY excited about this! Gets us out and seen.

Chuck and Don's Pet Food Outlet in Elk River wants to put us on their winter schedule to do meet and greets HOPEFULLY every 3rd Sat. of the month. They have a food bin that is donated to RLRR and people are ALWAYS asking who we are SO we are going to do meet and greets so people can know who we are.

Dino Buege, one of our board members for the Petfinder Foster Group, is going to be manning a booth with another one of our fosters, Mari, in Rogers. Details to follow on that. This is on the 20th.

We are just SO excited to be getting out there and more people learning about us. We are working hard every day to come up with more ideas.

LANCE
So again, if you will look at these adorable pics and let me know if you can foster these babies! E-mail blog@redlakerosie.org.

THANKS so much.
