The Eleven Who Kare event last night was terrific. We were all so proud of Karen!

I hope anyone who has photos from the two days of her visit and any thoughts they would like to share will send them to me to include in one or more blog posts.

This photo from my cell phone isn't going to cut it :-)

In honor of rescuer, Karen Good

Karen Good of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue is honored today for her selfless efforts on behalf of the animals of Red Lake Indian Reservation. As a volunteer selected as one the Eleven Who Care in 2011, she will attend a special event hosted by Thrivent Financial and Kare 11 this evening.

The recognition Karen appreciates most, of course, is the unspoken thanks from the hundreds of animals she has helped over the years. This poem was sent to Karen by a supporter and I thought today was the perfect day to share it.

THE REASON
(to you from the animals you have rescued)

CINNAMONI would've died that day if not for you.
I would've given up on life if not for your kind eyes.
JUSTINI would've used my teeth in fear if not for your gentle hands.
CINDERELLAI would have left this life believing that all humans don't care
LORNABelieving there is no such thing as fur that isn't matted,
skin that isn't flea bitten,
good food and enough of it,
beds to sleep on,
someone to love me,
to show me I deserve love just because I exist.
SURVIVORYour kind eyes, your loving smile, your gentle hands
Your big heart saved me...
WILLOWYou soothed away the memories of my old life.
KYRAYou have taught me what it means to be loved.
I have seen you do the same for other animals like me.
LUCYI have heard you ask yourself in times of despair
Why you do it-
When there is no more money, no more room, no more homes
PINKYYou open your heart a little bigger, stretch the money a little further
Make just a little more room...to save one more like me.
KIRAI tell you with the gratitude and love that shines in my eyes
MISTYIn the best way I know how
Reminding you why you go on trying.
ZORROI am the reason
CASEYThe animals before me are the reason
As are the ones who come after.
TINY PUPOur lives would've been wasted, our love never given
JUNEBUGWe would die if not for you.

Karen's Kare 11 live interview

Crystal was backstage for Karen's live television debut. She took some photos and filed this report:

A delightful fellow animal lover named Bonnie did Karen's make-up and hair. Bonnie shared with us the wall filled with autographs and warm messages from numerous grateful celebrities whom she also helped to look their best.

Karen looked absolutely stunning.

Marilou Lu also got a little touch up as Ahnung patiently waited.

Karen presented a great deal of information in the short time span. It was wonderful to see Karen get just a fraction of the attention and gratitude she is due. Both Karen and Marilou did an excellent job, and Ahnung was total perfection.

After the show, we enjoyed good conversation over lunch, and Karen had a little time to relax before she headed back to her beloved animals.

Here is the video of Karen Good of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue appearing on the Kare 11 Today show as an Eleven Who Care honoree. Marilou from Pet Haven brought her Red Lake dog Ah-nung as an ambassador for RLRR rescued animals. Nice job, Karen!!

KARE11 visits Red Lake Rosie's Rescue!

Jim Douglas of KARE11 came up to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue on Monday, March 7, 2011, to do the interview and camera work for my television segment as one of the 2011 Eleven Who Care volunteers.

As it turns out I will not need to go to Golden Valley for the interview which makes it easier for planning. I guess I did not realize the interview was today, but I think it went okay.

Nancy O'Sullivan, the person who nominated me, was also on the interview.

I will be attending the dinner when they schedule it.

Kevin took this photo to remember the day.

Thanks for all your great support and help through this process.

Have a great day!!

Karen :)
