Bella & Maya: Both RLRR dogs!

Two years ago, Bella (formerly Goldie, on the right) was rescued by Red Lake Rosie's and then moved on to All Dog Rescue, where she was adopted to her forever home. She quickly became friends with the two cats in the household.

About a year later, the family decided it was time for another dog and adopted Maya. Goldie and Maya quickly became the best of friends. Maya also came from RLRR via All Dog Rescue!

The family really loves these two and is grateful to the organizations that brought them into their lives.

Goldie/Bella finds a home and her smile :-)

GOLDIE/BELLA (center) AND FRIENDS
I was so happy to receive a call from a lady named Krissy with updates on a dog we named Goldie last summer. This little girl came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue with a Housing employee who said that the people where he found Goldie did not want her. She came very hungry and dehydrated and scared. It is wonderful news to see how her life has changed now!

Thank you, Dale and Krissy and all our supporters who make this possible for Goldie, now Bella. All Dog Rescue took her and found this great home for her!

UPDATE FROM ADOPTERS:
We had lost our beloved dog Daisy July of 2014. I knew we were eventually going to get another. We were thinking of the following spring or summer. We happened to be out shopping for a birthday card when we came upon the adoption day at Petco in Eden Prairie. My husband said, "You don't want to look at those dogs over there do you?"

That was the beginning. I saw Bella and she was so cute just sitting there with her foster mother. It was love at first sight. Then I remembered my cats. Thank God she said that Bella did like cats.

Then she told me that Bella did have lyme disease. Well, I was already in love with her. And I researched lyme disease and it's not a death sentence. It's actually not that big of a deal. Like a cold, sometimes you have symptom, sometimes you don't. They treat with antibiotics.

We have had her a little over a year now. She so sweet. She loves her sisters, the cats Poozie and Princess. She actually licks them real gentle. Loves people and other dogs. She goes to the dog park every weekend. And gets two walks a day. We are so happy with our Bella.

I'll bet Goldie's a Gopher fan!

Goldie, a male mix golden retriver mix, has been a homeless dog for a long time in Red Lake.

Carol has been feeding him and brought Goldie to the August clinic. There he was spotted by Meredith a volunteer from RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota) who was at the clinic. We had no space at the shelter and poor Goldie would have been neutered and released again to the streets. Thankfully Meredith and RAGOM took Goldie into their program and he is now up for adoption!!

Sincerely, Karen
Red Lake Rosie's Rescue

FROM RAGOM'S WEBSITE:
Goldie #11-292

Goldie is an approximate 1 year old Golden Retriever mix who was found as a stray. He was neutered on August 22 and is up to date on shots. He is heartworm negative and is currently being treated for parasites.

This boy is a total Love Bug and is a joy to foster. He does great on the leash and after 2 days of struggling to get him in the wire crate he now heads in with no resistance. Loves his food and exhibits no resource guarding. Likes other dogs and will introduce him to kids in a few days.

He had his vet check yesterday and charmed all the staff at the Annandale Vet Clinic.

He weighs 68lbs and has a typical Golden coat on his back and legs with a thicker heavier coat on his head and neck. He loves to be brushed ( except for his tail ) and he is becoming a real beauty.

Goldie will be at Godzilla on September 17th and is looking forward to making his RAGOM debut.

Goldie is on the left with resident adopted Golden Ole on the right.

UPDATES:
09/09/2011:

Goldie is doing just FABULOUS ! He adjusted to traveling this past weekend and enjoyed it at the lake. He loves going for walks ( is great on the leash) and being brushed. He has a beautiful gait and his little ears bounce up and down with every step. He was great with my two granddaughters ages 5 and 7 and loves people in general. I am followed at all times when he is out of the crate.

He is in the toddler stage but does have supervised free roam in the house throughout the day. Does not mind the large wire crate and now heads in there when I say " kennel" ...of course there is a treat that follows!

Goldie is meeting a couple in the next few days to see if they are a good fit for his forever home.

First visit for Terry & Nancy; August 15 Transport

We had new friends come for a weekend at the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue shelter. Terry and Nancy came from Eden Prairie on Saturday, August 14th and left Sunday the 15th with a load of 10 dogs and puppies and one kitten bound for the metro area shelters and rescues.

DAVIONWe had a great time, lots of help with the chores, walking dogs, cleaning cat cages, and loving up kittens too! Terry and Nancy also did some kennel repair. It rained for a portion of the day, on and off, and we just stayed out in it and continued our work.

They brought a giant load of cat and dog kibble from Chuck and Don's Pet Food Outlets as well as coupon purchases made by Heidi. Heidi has been a great help to RLRR in getting supplies and food for the past 2 months and we really appreciate it. Jane N. also sent food and supplies including a neat new pooper scooper which we immediately put to use!

GOLDIEGoldie went to Tricounty Humane Society.

COURTNEYCourtney and Tammy went to All Dog Rescue.

TAMMYTammy had strayed into a yard and a woman called and Janelle answered the call and rescued her and brought her to the shelter. Now she is in safe hands at All Dog.

DAVIONANGIEDavion and Angie went to Act V.

MADDIE & MARGOFLORAMargo & Maddie, Flora, Matisse & Melody (all puppies) went to MARS.

MATISSEMELODYMatisse & Melody were found at the dump and brought to the shelter by Tony.

NOVALast, but not least, Nova, a little black kitten went to Connie.

Thank you Terry, Nancy, Heidi and Jane. You are all appreciated for all you do for Red Lake animals!

Sincerely, Karen

BIG Transport to clear kennels before August clinic

Greetings! I wanted to share the information on another large 30 animal transport that left RLRR over the weekend. Some animals are in the metro area and others are enroute to ARVSS in Wisconsin.
We want to thank the faithful transporters Tom and Nancy O. who met the RLRR van in Bemidji and took the animals to meet Barbara O. in Motley. Barbara took them on to St. Cloud and into the metro. This great team has often stepped forward to help move the Red Lake animals and we are so thankful for them.

We have had a great influx of animals at the shelter and we are mindful that we have to clear out the kennels as much as we can for the upcoming animal clinic in early August. We are hoping the surrenders and homeless animal numbers decrease but want to be prepared for them.

We sent out 27 dogs/pups and 3 cats/kittens to the following organizations: Tricounty Humane Society; Pet Haven; Pet Projects; Red Lake Rosie's Petfinder Foster homes in Rogers; and ARVSS in Wisconsin, which is a foster-based program where we have sent many animals in the past.

Tricounty Humane Society- St. Cloud
GOLDIERUBYRuby is spayed and has her shots. She is a great gal and we are hopeful that she will be adopted real soon.
PRISCILLAPriscilla, the cat, was surrendered and we sent her to be spayed right away. She is a real nice cat.
PAIR OF KITTENSThese 2 little kittens are lovely and went to Tricounty Humane Society. With the numbers of cats, it is very hard to find foster homes for the cats and kittens. IF YOU THINK YOU COULD FOSTER FOR RLRR, PLEASE FIND MORE INFORMATION ON OUR WEBSITE, www.redlakerosie.org.

ARVSS- Wisconsin
JEWELZMANNYManny came here all skin and bones and has made good weight gains in the past 2 weeks. He is a great little dog, on his way to a real home, and no more starving for him.
BARRYEWING DUCKBarry and Ewing Duck were stray puppies found wandering. They both are great pups and have foster homes now. No more foraging for food and no more homeless status for these boys!
KEYNAKeyna was surrendered with another dog as the owner could not feed the 4 dogs she had. They all have mange. Poor little Keyna had a gash on her face from food competition and has come out of her shell and gained weight already now that she has a good food and water supply.
FELICIASEVEN DWARFS PUPSTHREE MUSKETEERS PUPSPuppies, Puppies. We sent out lots of puppies, and were able to get one of the mamas spayed. We have been told by the owners that they will spay at the August clinic. We hope they do.
EDWINAEdwina has a very sad story. She is the only survivor of her litter who came here on 7/12/09. The litter of pups was starving and mange infested already. Then kids in the neighborhood where they lived hung the puppies by the neck and threw stones at them until they all died, except Edwina. A lady got the puppy away from the kids and we got her. The people do not know the kids involved and would give no information. Despite her shockingly tragic circumstances, Edwina is a "hoot". She is such a great pup and has a wonderful "I am happy" attitude. A real doll. She is going into foster care.

JONNIE CAKESThat is 30 little souls and we wish safe travels to everyone- We thank you for helping get each of these angels out to a better life. Mike and I will sure miss the ones we sent out, as they were a great group of very social animals, and they all got along.

A special thank you for the RLRR supporters, transporters, food donors, and receiving groups. All but 5 went to foster care. We wish we could say ALL went to foster care which is our goal.

Sincerely- Karen Good and RLRR
