Miss Charlie is now Greta

UPDATE FROM ADOPTERS:
She is great! My wife keeps telling me that she is HER dog now because she is such a sweet-souled dog. Faithful, kind, gentle—she lets my kids lay on her like a pillow while watching TV! I have even fallen asleep laying on her hip before…she just sleeps happily. We are extremely happy with her and we are certain that she knows that she has a family now—and we think she likes us by the way her massive tail wags and knocks things over when we come home.

We did make one change with her…her name. I was tentative at first because I didn’t want to add stress to her. But, we tried and she adapted very well so Charlie is now…Greta! We thought it was a sweet German name for a sweet girl with partial German breed lineage. Charlie or Greta—she’s a wonderful pup.

Also—she has had two vet visits so far and is very much improving. The demodex count was down a solid 50% as of last week. Furthermore, her chest and tummy are no longer red and have had no new bumps/pustules or sores develop for the last month. She is a hefty 90 pounds now and her vet said she was at her perfect weight based on her size and chest/waist/hips proportions.

Hey there, Charlie girl!

When Miss Charlie was surrendered to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in March 2014, she was terribly thin, sick and unhappy. See original post HERE. She was so lucky to be taken in by Doberman Rescue Minnesota for foster care and adoption placement.

Hi Karen,

Wanted you to know Charlie was adopted by a family, they have two children and a border collie. They just love her. Charlie has a fenced-in yard, can sleep on the couch and lots of food to eat (She even helped herself to some of their food on the counter the other day!) 

Life is good for her now. Thank you so much for all you did for her to get her to where she is now!

Help for Miss Charlie

A call came in to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue a few days ago that a female dog named Charlie needed help. Karen and Geri went in search of Charlie and found a very pitiful girl. Charlie is so gentle and nice, but had long-term malnourishment and subsequent mange. Her eyes are full of pus and they have that haunted look.

Charlie ate her puppy kibble mixed with canned food and water in a matter of seconds. We also started her on antibiotics and ivermectin for mange. We see lots of dried blood on the top of her head and ears, source unknown.

We are so happy to have Charlie as part of the Red Lake Rosie’s pack. We are hoping it is temporary and that she heals quickly. The owner told us she is already spayed.

When we find dogs such as Charlie, we are so happy to be able to rescue them and make them all better. We know of her suffering and made the promise "It is all better now; we are going to help you, Charlie!”

Thank you to the supporters of Red Lake animals that make these and other rescues possible. So many animals need our help and you give us the tools, supplies and funds to help Charlie and others like her!
