Tres Magnifique!

During the recent clinic, DeeDee and Karen were in Ponemah waiting for residents to pick up their newly altered animals when a young man approached to ask for help. He said that his dog had been hit by a car about five days earlier, and the "bone was sticking out."

DeeDee followed him home to assess the situation and found a juvenile black lab cross with a homemade splint/bandage on his leg. She told the man that the dog needed to see a veterinarian immediately. He did not own a vehicle, nor could he afford to pay the veterinary costs, so he surrendered the puppy to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

Back at the warehouse, he was given the name Rufus. Despite his considerable pain, Rufus was happy and friendly.

UPDATE FROM ACT V:
Rufus (now known as Tres) came from Red Lake to us as an urgent request by DeeDee and Karen Good. He's a 17 week old lab/shep mix that had been hit by a car about 5-7 days prior to being turned into Red Lake during a spay neuter event. His hock joint was completely destroyed and the bones exposed to the environment. DeeDee transported him to us and stayed with him until evaluated.

Unfortunately, his leg could not be salvaged and it was amputated the next day. His new foster says he's doing really well. He's a snuggly guy. Wish him luck in his quest for a new loving home.

Oh, Cecelia

Cecelia was rescued by Tony from the highway, kept at the shelter, then transported by John to Crystal who fostered her. Now she is in the arms of her loving adoptive family!

NOTE FROM FOSTER MOM CRYSTAL:
Hi, thought you might like to see the lovely family who just adopted our little girl.

I did the home visit yesterday, with CeCe, and she actually started to scratch the window and whimper when we got close to their home. It was exactly what my dogs do on trips to my mom's house in the country.

Cecelia bounded out and took over, guess it was meant to be. Their other dog, Bailey, is a beauty, an old gentleman (Greyhound golden mix) in perfect condition. Bailey even welcomed Cece's arrival. Their fenced in yard was huge.

The last picture is for you, John; yes, I did give CeCe daily hugs and kisses from both of us.

CrystalNOTE FROM KAREN:

John took Cecelia along on his transport and she stayed with him for several days. She had arrived at RLRR VERY matted and he was so kind to give Cece her first haircut

John has been a great blessing to RLRR in the past year, and we appreciate his very caring and sensitive ways with our animals.

Ellen returns

Ellen made the trek north to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue on August 9th and stayed until August 12th helping care for the dogs and cats. She picked up Geri in Bemidji on the way here and the cathouse got as great cleaning.

HAWKEYEEllen enjoyed visiting with the dogs and had many new friends. She and Geri took total care of the shelter for 2 days, which was a great vacation for me. Thank you Ellen and Geri for all your hard work.

ELLEN AND HER DOG FRIENDSEllen transported Eddie and Hawkeye to Tricounty Humane Society, Wendy a German Shepherd to her new adoptive home, and Emily the cat to Feline Rescue when she left early Friday morning.

EMILYEmily is a very sweet grey long haired girl. She was left on Polly's porch one day in a paper box, and she came to the shelter. She was very depressed and shy at first, but came around nicely and turned out to be one of the favorite "lovebugs". Now she has a chance to get her forever home with Feline Rescue.

Ellen also took the time to go to AHS on her way up to RLRR to get Eddie, the black labbie pup. Little Eddie was the only one of three sibling pups from Leech Lake who had failed the food test, so he came back to us.

EDDIEEddie was only at RLRR for 3 days, then went back to Tricounty with Ellen. We saw his picture appear on their webpage and very soon a deposit was placed on him and today he has been adopted. Thank you Ellen for your kindness in taking the time and effort to reclaim Eddie!

Pets-R-Loved

Rosalyn, owner of Pets-R-Loved, has decided to donate 10% of the proceeds of an embroidered clothing item using the Rescue embroidery design to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

She decided on RLRR for several reasons -
#1 she loves animals and especially those who are in need of love and a good home,
#2 she is from Minnesota where RLRR is located,
#3 her nickname used to be "Rosie" and
#4 the "R" in her company name represents her first name.

Pets-R-Loved offers custom embroidery for pet owners and pet professionals. Customers can choose from hundreds of stock dog, cat, and horse embroideries or have a photo of their own pet recreated in machine embroidery.

Items to be embroidered include clothing for humans, pet Christmas stockings, accessories for pet and human, and pet-themed home décor.

For each embroidered clothing item with the Rescue emblem ordered between September 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011, 10% of the proceeds (excluding shipping) will go to RLRR. The customer can choose to add verbage to the design - for example, "I Love My (Rescue) Dog", or "Mine is a (Rescue) Dog" (as shown).

Junebug would like a reunion with her pups!

Junebug arrived at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue VERY pregnant and actually started having her twelve pups during her transport to ARVSS (Animal Rescue, Veterinary and Support Services) in Wisconsin.

UPDATE RECEIVED BY ARVSS:
Hi Susie - here are some more pictures of the clown of a dog known as June Bug.

I thought I'd give you a quick summer update.

We got her a small pool and found out she loves it, and loves playing in the water.

She also likes the spray out of the hose, the results of which can be seen in the pictures I included.

It's hard to believe that last year at this time she had her puppies! It's still fun to look at the pictures you sent of that whole gang. We've been trying to get a hold of some of the folks that adopted her pups - she just happened to run into her puppy Tadhg at Ruffin It dog daycare a couple of months ago. He looks just like her...only super-sized! I was thinking of sending an email out to them (the owners, not the pups!) to see if they'd be interested in a play date sometime.

Jodi & Judy visit

Judy and Jodi visited Red Lake Rosie's Rescue on August 5th and 6th. On the day of arrival Chuck also came with a pickup load of kibble, canned food and supplies for the cats and dogs.

During their visit Judy and Jodi worked in the barn shed and also in the cathouse cleaning and organizing and most of all visiting with the many cats that they grew fond of very quickly.

ABBYAlso along to visit was Abby who is Jodi's aging black lab. She went outside for walks and also spent lots of time in the cathouse lounging with all the cats. As usual, Jodi and Judy did not leave empty- but took in a litter of 4 kittens, and 2 adult cats named Celine and Willshire to Cause for Paws.

EARLINEAlso on their transport was Earline, a Shih Tzu who went to Second Chance Rescue. Earline was found wandering on the highway, and has since been spayed and vaccinated. She also has a "cherry eye" which Second Chance said they would fix. She was a very nice dog and we are happy she gets a "second chance".

We are so happy that we were able to place all these great cats. Jodi and Judy had a hard time picking them as we have so many wonderful cats here at RLRR.

Again, a big thank you to the volunteers who travel so far, and use vacation time to come and help the Red Lake animals.
