Update on Sista' Sage

Poor baby Sage arrived at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue with a nasty rubberband embedded around her neck. After surgeries, healing and love in foster home, she has now found her forever home all thanks to Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation.

FROM ACT V ON FACEBOOK:
With ribbons and bows (and Frontline!), Sage is headed to the lake for a long weekend. Her new family sent us this picture after her first official Spa day. Isn't she pretty...!!

Sista' Skylar! Teddy Bear Trio

Wanted to let you know we found Skylar, who is no doubt Sage and Sasha's littermate sister yesterday. She is the spitting image of the other two, but more shy, as she has been out in the community longer and needs more work to build trust.

SKYLARSAGESASHASkylar was totally tick infested and came in hungry and dehydrated.

We are hoping to catch the mother of this litter that had suffered so much before they were rescued. That will complete this happy story!

SKYLARSt. Francis of Assissi who had previously taken Sasha took Skylar as well on May 26th. Thank you!

Lots of Good News for Sage!

Check out that smile!!

Sage, the other dog recently from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue with the injured neck, is healing well and looking much more interested in life around her!

Sage got her stitches out and a bath. That had to feel good and she is even fluffier now :-)

And, Guess What Else??!

Sage is on Petfinder.com!

This is Sage. She arrived from Northern MN and surrendered after being terribly neglected. She had a rubber band around her neck that required surgery to repair. BUT! This puppy is good to go...! She is approximately 16 weeks old and living in foster care with another German Shepherd. She is thriving and loves to be in the companionship of other dogs (and her humans.) She is still working on crate training but almost has it down perfectly! She is a quiet pup and is looking for the perfect family. She will only be adopted in the Twin Cities area. If you would like to meet Sage, email info@actvrescue.org Her adoption fee is $350

Saving Sage

It was a very sad Friday night, April 27th, as a puppy, Sage 3 months old, was brought to the shelter.

We had been hearing about this little one for some time with a severe neck injury at Circle Pines Housing in Red Lake, but no one brought it in and then it would wander off when Polly went to look for it.

Finally, Red Lake Rosie's Rescue offered a $30.00 reward and we got the dog late that night! Sasheanna, a very nice girl, brought Sage here and saved her life! The condition of this pup was painful to see and we wondered how she survived so long!

;According to the vet, a rubber hairband was put on the puppy's neck, probably weeks ago, and it had eaten into the neck. It was rotting by the time Sage arrived here.

Thankfully, Sage had the band removed and she stayed at the Clearwater vet hospital on IV for fluids and antibiotcs for the weekend.

I know the photos are graphic, but it is important to share them for two reasons. First, to educate the public about how such a simple act forgotten can torture and ultimately kill an animal. Second, to let our supporters know that these are the kinds of emergency medical situations that come in to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

Sage needed to see a vet immediately even though we had to pay the extra costs for the evening and weekend. Your donations allow us to do the best we can for these animals in need. Thank you for saving her life!

I am so happy to report that Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation has agreed to take Sage. We know she will receive wonderful care with them.

Once again a big THANK YOU our supporters who provide funds for emergency medical and the great rescuers and transporters who helped Sage to relieve her suffering and give her hope for the future.

What ABOUT my ears???

Hi Terresa,
Here are a few photos I took today after our big walk in the rain :)
Sage is just the sweetest little girl- she loves meeting people and esp kids- she LOVES kids. Been taking her to the aiport dog park and she can run & play with all sorts of good dogs and of course all the humans fall in love with her- everyone remarks on her ears.
Her training is going great- she knows sit, down, (of course) come, off, leave it and go potty. She usually has good manners when meeting new ppl but sometimes will hop up on 'em. House training was easy and now she is sleeping in to 730am (she would have to go at 610am for the first few weeks and that was a little early for me).
Her vet is really pleased how well she is doing and just got the rest of her vacs on 7/29, also she was parasite free and tomorrow she gets her heartworm pill.
We just love her sooo much and brings so much fun & joy everyday... and a lot of poo!
Hope your little foster pup is doing well and all your critters!

cheers,
d

Sage -- Week One in her new home

This little girl was from the litter of 8 from Red Lake. We had gotten four of them. Dora, her sister is still in foster care. No one has applied for her YET. :(
We got an update from Sage's new home.

Here are some pictures - you can see how Sage's coat is changing color.

We went to the vet today and she weighs 15lbs! Her check out went great- didn't even make a peep when she got her shot.

cheers,
D
