Gertie! It's all good.

It's hard to believe that Gertie arrived at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue as such a small pup with one of the worst cases of mange Karen had ever seen. She is healed now and, as you can see below, grown up.

UPDATE FROM ACT V:
GERTIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED...!  She will be living with another four-legged friend and be smothered with love. Not a bad gig...
Happy Friday everyone...!

Gertie's comeback

GERTIE NOW
Gertie is well on her way to a full recovery from what Karen called, "One of the worst cases of mange she has seen". And we all know she has seen more dogs with mange than probably any of us!

Check out the original blog post of Gertie here.

HEALING HAS BEGUN
Gertie was taken in by Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation and is in a foster home. She's still a growing pup.

Dr. Vicki comments, "Gertie, after four weeks on ivermectin, is looking really good. Lots of hair regrown."

SUCH A SWEET SAD FACE
I am amazed at the progress of her healing in just a few weeks!
HOW MUCH MORE COMFORTABLE IS SHE??

Gertie gets a second chance

I saw Gertie on the highway looking for food last Saturday while returning from the transport.

I stopped because the little girl was in the middle of the highway and, when I saw her condition, I knew she needed help. She has one of the worst cases of demodex mange I have seen.
She came running to me for the food I put out and was put in the van and taken to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.
I sent pics to Dr. Vicky at Act V who immediately told me that she would take Gertie on the next transport.  She left on March 2nd and is settled into her new foster home with her new toy!
Thank you Act V for giving Gertie a chance.
