MN PAWS: Minnesota Progressive Animal Welfare Society

MN PAWS AT FUNDRAISERRed Lake Rosie's Rescue had a pleasant visit with new friends from MN PAWS (Minnesota Progressive Animal Welfare Society), Dr. Melissa, Angela, and Stephanie. DeeDee met them at the Medina fundraiser recently and she accompanied them to the RLRR shelter on Saturday, December 3rd.

We had a busy day and the vet team immunized and wormed 13 kittens, 3 small dogs, 3 large dogs, and 7 puppies.

They also helped with the dog and cat chores and brought gifts of medicines, food, and supplies to the shelter.

When they left, they took a small long-haired chihuahua named April (now called April May) and I've already received an update from Angie:

"April May is already in a foster-to-adopt home with one of our good clients. She is such a happy little girl, and has another little chihuahua-mix brother in her foster home. I miss her...lol, I am the biggest foster failure so it's a good thing she went to her new foster home so quick. Once we get her teeth cleaned, she will be up for adoption, and I am pretty sure her new foster mom will adopt her:)"

The MN Paws Rescue group also met Victor, a lab mix dog who has a old break in his leg and he walks oddly. They are hoping to get him some orthopedic help in the future.

The Mn Paws team would like to be supportive of Red lake animals on a continual basis for which we are appreciative.

Dee Dee came to the shelter Sunday, December 4th, and took a load of animals out to Tricounty, Minnesota pitbull Rescue, Feline Rescue, and Pet Haven. Thank you, DeeDee, for all your hard work and networking for RLRR.

Audrey & Ernie = LOVE

My beautiful silver foster kitten April from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue has a new home, new name (Audrey) and a handsome red-headed boyfriend named Ernie.
UPDATE FROM ADOPTER:
Audrey is doing wonderful. Still as much of a cuddler, I love it. She & Ernie love to play & snuggle together all the time.

Cozy kittens

Darling orange tabby August has been adopted, but his four equally wonderful sisters are still waiting for their forever homes.

APRILApril is the biggest love bug -- she want to cuddle all the time. She is a medium hair, dilute torbie -- mostly silver tabby with cream highlights. Her special buddy is June.

JUNEJune has the beautiful look of a Maine Coon cat with her medium length dark torbie fur with touches of soft orange. She wrestles with May & July, but cuddles with April.

JULYJuly is one of the twins with short torbie fur with black and orange and tabby stripes. She has more orange on her face and is more outgoing than May.

MAY & JULYMay, the other torbie twin, is the shyest of the group. She is almost always with her sister July. They would make an especially good pair.

UPDATE FROM ADOPTER OF BROTHER AUGUST:
Ryan (August's new name) is doing really well.

He purrs pretty much constantly (especially at night, when he's sleeping on the fleece blanket) and gets along well with our dog and cat.

This update brought a happy tear to this foster mom's heart to see her little boy settled in so warm and content with his new best friend!

Sweet old-fashioned Amelia and friends

A nineteen-year-old cat named Ethel was left homeless when her elderly owner died. Karen took her in and she has moved into a wonderful foster home.

AMELIA BEFORENOTES FROM FOSTER MOM:
Oh, my goodness, what a wonderful cat! I clipped off most of her mats and then zoom-groomed her and she LOVED it! I'll work on her again tonight and I think we can avoid shaving her.

She is very very sweet and we are so glad she is here with us! She will live out her life in comfort and love.

LIBBYLibby and Buttons are so sweet too-this is a wonderful group-we love them!

LATER:
We renamed her Amelia because we felt she should have a beautiful name for the rest of her life.

AMELIA AFTERShe was very matted when we got her, and she got a shave and a bath at the vet. We also found out she had an ear infection, which is being treated.

She has a very gentle soul. She is content to sleep in her lime green bed until she gets a visitor-she is especially fond of men! Her favorite perch is on our chests or our hips and she loves to be petted.

AMELIA WITH SWEATERWe tried to put a sweater and a t-shirt on her to keep her warm, but she wriggled out of both of them. She gets along with her two roommates, Bijou (formerly Buttons) and Libby, but we brought her upstairs to live with us because of the cold.

BIJOUWe are very grateful to have the lovely Amelia living with us, even though a friend of ours is thinking she would like to have her company in her nice, big, quiet house which has no other cats.

APRIL & MAYI'm also attaching a picture of April and May. They were two almost-feral kittens who came to live with us in August. They are big girls now, and still looking for their homes. April is going to have a visitor tomorrow and if that doesn't result in an adoption, she'll go to the Highland Chuck and Don's store to see if someone there will be unable to resist her.
