Daisy lost her leg, but her life was saved

Daisy had a broken leg at least three years ago and came to a clinic. The owner would not surrender her to get help at that time.

As years passed, Daisy's leg became severely infected. When her owner feared that she would die, she was surrendered to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue at the beginning of the October 2016 clinic. It was the most pitiful sight I had seen in a long time.

Nancy took Daisy to the vet immediately. Her elbow was fused and the broken bones were exposed and protruded out of the leg. The leg was removed and, miraculously, the bone infection had not spread into her shoulder.

Daisy is a wonderful dog and after immediate recovery at the shelter, she went into the care of Pet Haven where she has recovered and flourished.

Angel finds heaven in her forever home

We just got a card and donation from Vicki and a photo of Angel with Santa. Angel lives in comfort now and has all the love and food she needs. Enjoy all the photos and news from Vicki!

Fallen Angel at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue

When Angel arrived at Red Lake Rosie's in the spring of 2015, she was full of sores with sparse hair -- a victim of demodex mange and malnourishment.

Angel began a journey of healing at the RLRR shelter that would eventually lead her to meeting Vicki who adopted her on October 2nd of that same year. Vicki, Lydjia and Bonnie were volunteering at the shelter tarping the kennels for winter when Vicki met Angel and knew they were meant to be together.

This is just one example of how our supporters help us heal so many dogs struggling to survive the devastating effects of mange and starvation. Together we can end the lifelong suffering of many more dogs like our wonderful Angel!

UPDATE FROM ADOPTER:

"Chance and Mariah came to us from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue via ACT V: Chance in March of 2015 and Mariah in February of 2016. 

Today I watch them sleep this cold afternoon away upon their comfy beds in the sun-filled four-season porch. We are so thankful they were found in those winter months and taken in to be cared for. 

There is not a day that they don't make us laugh and bring joy into our home. Thank you, Red Lake Rosie's and ACT V! These dogs are warm, safe, healthy, comfortable, and oh so loved."

"Hello!

A couple years ago our family adopted a puppy from Red Lake Rosie. Her mom was a rescue, Willow (now Maggie) and her sisters were up for adoption and we couldn't pass her up.

Maggie was going to be a Search and Rescue dog, but like the rest of us she's too... stubborn. 😉 She makes a good watch dog and fits in nicely on the couch. :)

Briar is safe and warm

NOTE FROM ADOPTER:"9-month-old Briar was found in 2012 with a litter of pups, pretty malnourished. Coco's Heart did a transport and found a foster family. When the puppies were weaned, we took Briar. She was very timid and scared of her own shadow.

Four years and 40 or so weeks of obedience later, she's an excellent momma dog to my one year old, and enjoys cuddling, going to the barn, and long hikes.

We love our Briar!"
