Tate & Taylor: Ready for adoption

Tate & Taylor were surrendered to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue by a family because the children were mistreating them. (See earlier blog post.)
It turned out that Tate (the tabby) had a rubber band around his foot and would likely have died of infection or at least lost his leg if we didn't get him when we did.
We were fortunate that ACT V Rescue & Rehabilitation could take the pair for treatment and foster care. Now they are ready for adoption as a bonded pair :-)
If you want Tate, you get Taylor...

No question they should stay together after all they have been through in their short lives!

Abused kittens

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue got a call from a woman that she and her kids had two kittens since October. She explained that the kids were not kind to the kittens and she wanted to "get rid" of them as one of the kittens had bitten her child.
Dan went over there to pick them up. Then the woman called again to say that there was a rubber band around the leg of one of the kittens! She had NOT bothered to remove the rubber band and now the kittens foot is swollen with infection and hard.
Polly rode with Dan and the kittens and she removed the rubber band. We started the kitten on antibiotics right away. It appears the rubber band had been on the leg for some time - so sad!  :(

We were very grateful to ACT V that they offered to take the kittens for medical care and foster care.

UPDATE FROM ACT V:
They made it from Red Lake just in time. Taylor had a rubber band place around his leg for an unknown period of time. Karen took it off last week. By the time we got him today, all the skin on the foot fell off. It’s going to take some time, but I think the foot will be ok.

DENISE SAYS:
The kittens look understandably solemn now, but I know they will brighten up in foster care.

Kitty transport, plus a pup

Lots of kittens, an injured cat, Tate, and a special puppy, Little Doug, rode out with Denise to the metro on Thursday, June 14th.

TATETate came to the shelter because he and a small dog were friends and the dog used to carry Tate around by the neck over a period of time causing a open wound on the back. Poor Tate put up no resistance to the dog and used to sleep beside him, only to be further injured. Thankfully Tate was brought to the shelter and Feline Rescue took him in. Shan and Brian of Shan's Shack made the rescue.

Another sad case was Little Doug, a tiny puppy unable to use his hind legs, who was rescued from a ditch in Cass Lake. Leech Lake Legacy had him in Animal Care Clinic where he was x-rayed and they found 3 bullets in his little body. The puppy was about 6 weeks old and very darling. Nancy and Tom brought him from ACC and he rode out with Denise to AHS and met Jen and Marilou. Little Doug is being assessed there and needs all the prayers he can get.

KATNISSPUFFFERRISALMONDA litter of kittens found at a farm in Goodridge went to a foster home with Feline Rescue. They are Puff, Almond, Katniss, and Ferris (named by the students from Youth Works) They were rescued by Shan and Brian of Shan's Shack.

IZZYAnother kitten named Izzy went to foster care with Denise. Along the transport route Karen stopped and picked up another little tabby kitten, named Squirt, which Denise also kindly took into her care.

TOM, DENISE, NANCYThank you Shan, Brian, Denise, Nancy, Tom, AHS, Jen, and Marilou for your commitment to help these animals. We all made a difference!

Sincerely,
Karen and RLRR
