New names haven't tamed these Russian brothers
UPDATE ON TWO BROTHERS FROM THE RUSSIAN CIRCUS TROUPE:
So funny you should have written as I have had it on my heart to send some updated photos for a few days now.
Hard to pick from the hundreds we have and also hard to believe these are not staged but this is WHAT they do.
They are a hoot.
BANDIT & SMOKE AND NEW BROTHER RUMOR
They are food hounds and will leap tall buildings as soon as I begin to prepare a meal and do not leave until the dishes are done.
Smoke LOVES butter and cheese which is just hilarious.
Bandit is the thief his name implies. He has been seen stealing clothes, shoes, cough drops, trash, kleenex, pillows and much more.
Smoke is still very small in comparison and we are just loving that.
At night as settle down to relax, he always jumps up on the couch and sleeps on the couch ledge behind our head till we retire for bed. It is really sweet.
We are loving them both! Thank you so much.

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue Foster Program
In addition to relying on many animal rescue groups to help find homes for the homeless dogs and cats of Red Lake, RLRR also has a small foster care program of their own.
These dedicated volunteers provide temporary homes and special care for dogs and cats that are too young or sick or unsocialized for immediate placement. A foster home prepares them for a forever home.
The dogs and cats of Red Lake come in every size, color and pattern. Some of these photos are from "Meet & Greet" events where the fosters caregivers bring their animals to a place where the public can come and learn more about Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

From Russians to Anchovies with love
Andrei & Alexei, the last of the Russian Circus Troupe kittens, have found a home! They moved in with a young couple and their very cat-friendly dog.
FIRST REPORT: The boys spent their first evening in the bathroom, which they immediately investigated every corner. We have a large walk in shower with a wall nearly to the ceiling, and they both managed to get up there pretty quickly too. They had a highly amusing wrestling match in the shower and were quickly tired out.
This morning, we let them out into the bedroom, where they explored every corner. Just a couple of hours of bedroom investigation and Andrei (now Hamsi) was ready to head downstairs. I took Sanuk, the dog, for a walk, so that they could take a look around without bother. We introduced Sanuk when we returned, and now they are cautiously getting to know one another.
You weren't kidding when you said they were incredibly self-confident. Sanuk is delighted, and though she gives them plenty of space, she is quite taken by them and eager to get a good sniff. Everyone is calm and comfortable, and Alexsi (now Yhavro) has curled up on my lap. I think they are feeling quite at home. We are so excited to have them here with us.
Just a note, their new names both mean "Anchovy" in Turkish and Greek, respectively. We'll send some photos and more updates soon. JS~
SECOND REPORT: The boys are doing really well! They have free run of the house and are finding their favorite spots already - their nest on top of the washing machine, a "cat cave" underneath a low table covered by a tablecloth, and a bed on a chair at the kitchen table (which I put there so that they could be social while we cook and clean up).
Hamsi (hahm-seh, formerly Andrei) is proving to be a fearless explorer, while Yhavro (yhah-vro, formerly Alexsi) is an eager and affectionate cuddler. We have been playing with some feathers/cat chaser kind of toys, and the dog (Sanuk) apparently likes to play this game too. I have to make her sit and let the kitties have a turn. Sanuk (which means "fun" in Thai language) is learning not to chase them - she gets so excited when they are all playing.
The boys are learning not to jump on the counters or the bed, and while I thought we'd have epic, night-long battles over sleeping on the bed, a couple of scoots and everyone finds a comfortable place in their own bed. No problems with allergies, but we want to start off with good habits. Attached are couple of pictures and a little movie.
Hamsi is quite taken by the washing machine. He watched two loads yesterday, and then scratched at it first thing this morning. I'll keep sending more as cuteness arises.
Thank you and Rosie's Red Lake Rescue for all you do. We feel so fortunate to have found these little guys, and they are a perfect match for us. We are all very happy.

Two circus boys at home
Remember the Russian Circus Troupe? The six "Russian Blue" kittens with energy to burn and their beautiful mom? First, the two girls, Katya and Svetlana, went to homes and then mom, Meeko. Now two of the boys, Sergei and Dimitri, are in a new home together with their new names of Bandit & Smoke. The two boys, Andrei & Alexei remain in foster care and are so anxious to find a home together!
BROTHERS IN BED
ADOPTER UPDATE #1:
Well, Smoke and Bandit are getting worn out exploring the house. We have 3 floors and about 4500 square feet with lots of interesting spots to hide and play. They are not as interested in us as of yet, but did sleep in Kaylyn's bed which is sweet. I suspect until they feel comfortable with their surroundings, we will not be of much interest. They did take well to Rumor's food, so no problem there at all.
BANDIT IN A BOX
We did the introduction using two rooms and then let them out. Rumor, our cat, is not all that pleased but is much better today. He will adjust, I think, but taking longer than I thought it might. I am sure his injured leg does not help. We will get some great photos and send them along when we do. Will keep you posted as well.
COMFY COZY BROTHERS
ADOPTER UPDATE #2:
Almost wish I could scoop up the other two as well! (Andrei & Alexei) I so support your ruling to keep Smoke and Bandit together, they are amazing. Better behaved than most adults I know, hah hah.
RUSSIAN BOYS & RUMOR
They have been so gracious trying to get to know our cat Rumor. They lay down a few feet away and toss their toy at him to see if he will come over and play. Rumor has stopped growling and is showing interest but not playing yet. His foot is still on the mend so that is playing into this as well.
SMOKE COZY
BANDIT IN BED
WE ARE THRILLED WITH THE KITTENS! This could not have gone better from our point of view. We have taken hundreds of photos. I will definitely send one of all three are doing something fun when that happens!
SMOKE EXPLORING
The funniest thing they did was Smoke was walking on the dining room chairs, musical chair style, and Bandit was following him forwards and backwards on top of the table! What a hoot to watch.
BANDIT
They both seem to want to be lap cats at the moment which we are really encouraging and both sleep with Kaylyn on her bed which is making her happy and giving Rumor some sleep time.
BANDIT CURL
NAUGHTY BANDIT
Oh, the other thing they did several times is attempt to walk through our glass railings. Way too funny. They could see where they wanted to go but just could not get there! Made a huge thud each attempt.
SMOKE ON COUCH
Here are few photos to hold you over. I will send future fun photos as they come along and as they continue to grow up. They are just what our family needed right now. A true gift from God!
SMOKE LIKES RUNNING WATER
Thank you for rescuing them, caring for them and being patient with us and Rumor. God Bless you all and your wonderful animal ministry, too.

Sergei and Dimitri, the fluffy boys, are going together to home (more on that in a post soon). Even their momma Meeko has a home for the holidays.

Katya: Russian princess
The Russian Circus Troupe kittens have begun to find their homes. Katya discovered that she is really a princess!
NOTE FROM ADOPTER TO FOSTER COORDINATOR:
Hi T~
I just wanted to thank you for all of your assistance in my search for a kitten! This experience has been wonderful!
Even though I was sad to hear that Svetlana had already been adopted, we did adopt her sister, Katya, on Saturday! Katya is precious and seems to be loving her new home. She's getting brave and venturing out more and more throughout the house. She is just a doll and my daughter absolutely LOVES her!! She (my daughter) cried when we brought Katya home and now thinks it's all a dream. LOL! She's even kept Katya's name.
Foster moms were wonderful as well! They gave us some great information and tips on making Katya's transition less stressful! They definitely deserve some kudos!!
Please know that if I hear of anyone looking to adopt an animal, I will definitely refer them to Red Lake Rosie! You have an awesome bunch of dedicated people working there and I'm proud to have been given the chance to make a difference in Katya's life!
Thank you again and have a great day!
SK
AND A NOTE TO FOSTER MOMS:
Yes, Katya is adjusting very well! She’s no longer that shy reserved kitten anymore. She doesn’t walk anywhere, she RUNS!! For as little as she is she sounds like a herd of elephants running up/down the stairs. When she’s tired, you pet her and she almost instantly goes to sleep. It’s like mesmerizing to her! LOL!
She is now freely roaming the whole entire house (as of Wednesday night). In fact we hadn’t even introduced her to the basement yet but found her sleeping on the heated floor in the basement bathroom on Wednesday night! She’s certainly not stupid! LOL!
She also LOVES LOVES LOVES her new mommy! As you can see from the pics, she is very comfortable with my daughter. When K goes outside to play, Katya runs around the house looking for her and follows her almost everywhere! She has also taken up with a White Tiger stuffed animal (it’s actually bigger than her!) She pounces on it, bites it and plays with it every day. It’s the funniest thing to watch!
She is a very good little girl and I’m pretty sure she loves her new home as well! She definitely keeps us laughing! I’ll keep you updated with more pics soon.
Hope all is well with you. Have a great weekend!

Meeko: Mom to the Russian Circus kittens
After we transported the Russian Circus Troupe kittens to foster care, I found out that their mother, who had been found with them at the dump, was also at Karen's looking for foster care. Meeko was spayed at the November clinic and then moved down to the cities. She was adopted within a week by a wonderful young couple referred to me by a friend. Thanks, Marina!
DAY ONE:
Meeko has been doing great. Last night she spent most of the time under our bed but then I woke up during the night to find her asleep with us. Amanda and I both have the day off today and Meeko has been enjoying exploring our apartment and playing with the toys, she really loves those. She's also been eating her dry food, drinking water, and used the litter box so it seems that she's doing very well!
DAY TWO:
Oh she's doing great! She's been using the litter box no problem, and eating consistently. She REALLY loves the toys you sent with and has become very accustomed to the chair I keep at my desk, it seems to be her favorite part of the apartment. She's very social and hasn't returned to under the bed since the first evening, she also sleeps on our bed with us at night. We're so happy to have her and feel it's a perfect match! I've attached a couple pictures that we've taken of her. Thank you so much!
