Momma Comma needs a home

Comma wasn’t excited to wear a jingle collar but agreed to be photographed with it. 

UPDATE FROM PET HAVEN:

Comma (formerly known as Maime) came to Pet Haven after having 2 kittens on Easter Sunday at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. As is often true, the kittens, two little black and white boys, have found homes and are doing well. Momma Comma has taken awhile to recover and continues to look for the best home for her.

She had probably not lived inside much, if at all, and has gotten used to house noises now and comes to see her foster mom and sit on her lap all on her own! 

This girl is looking for a woman to love her in a quieter home - she wouldn’t mind having another cat friendly cat or dog to live with but will be fine as an only girl too - the more time for Comma to get love!

Happy Mother's Day: Adventures in fostering

Maime and her litter of two Easter kittens went to Pet Haven for foster care. We were pleased to receive an update on their adventures!

COTTON AND CLOVER

UPDATE FROM PET HAVEN: 

Mama Maimie climbed up by the fuse box and hid her two tiny kittens into the rafters between the ceiling of the basement and the first floor! The foster family had to take down the ceiling tile to rescue the babies and they moved to Mary Ann for bottlefeeding.

MAIMIE AND HER BOYS

It took two days to catch Maimie in a trap and reunite the family. Everyone is VERY happy mom is feeding and caring for them again! They are all in a large kennel now at Mary Ann's until Maimie is really settled in. She was friendly, but scared when she arrived and it was thundering that weekend, too. 

COTTON

Poor Maimie has a dull, thin, rough coat and the kittens have dull coats. She has probably had litter after litter in her 4 short years - at least that is what Karen was told for age. The boys are doing well; Cotton is at a normal weight for his age but is significantly smaller than Clover.

CLOVER

Maimie is a good mom and feeds them willingly and gives them baths. She’s doing well - likes to have her chin scratched, pet all the way down her back.

Maime's Easter Basket

Easter Surprise!

MAIME

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue took in six cats from a family a few days before Easter Sunday. Five of the cats had been fixed at our ACT V clinic in March. The owners assured us that Maime the sixth cat was also spayed.

Much to our surprise Geri discovered on Easter Sunday Eve that we had 2 little "bunnies" about 1 1/2 inches long in the basket that looked just like their mama. This was our Easter surprise!

We are happy to report that the little family and another cat named Romeo headed to foster care with Pet Haven this weekend.

How Maime became Rounder :-)

It was June 10th when the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue van responded to a call to pick up a mangy mama dog in the Red Lake area. On arrival, it was apparent with her large bags that there were puppies also. After searching, we found three pups strewn around here and there, which seemed unusual. We gathered them up, loaded the mama dog with sparse hair on her flanks, rump and tail and we were off the the RLRR shelter.

EFFECTS OF MANGE

Maime was the first name given as the owners had called her “Mama” and the new name seemed to fit. She had one blue eye and one brown eye and I imagined how pretty and unique Maime would be when her coat of hair returned.

As the week moved on it was clear that Maime had no intention of taking care of the puppies. The owner said she had many litters in her short 2 years. She was tired of puppies. Her puppies were about 3-4 weeks old and left June 16th to the care of Matt and Susie of ARVSS. Maime began a period of healing responding well to ivermectin, water, good quality grain free food, and lots of attention.

Maime decided that she was NOT a shelter dog and soon was following the van to and from the shelter. She took her position laying on the front porch assuming the job of watchdog. Soon her name evolved to Rounder because Kevin said she was always around!

Rounder was spayed and vaccinated and at the vet we discovered she was heartworm positive. Pet Haven once again stepped up to offer to enroll her in their program and get her heartworm treatment. Rounder left in the care of Meagan on August 21st on the last day of the clinic.

KAREN AND ROUNDER

It was hard to part with this great girl. Rounder was only a part of our lives for 10 short weeks but took a piece of my heart with her when she left. She is a clearly a very special dog and is sadly missed here. We are so happy though that she is getting the necessary medical treatment and will no doubt find a great forever home!
