Shyla joins Elly May at Rainbow Bridge

SHYLA'S FAMILY SAYS:

I just wanted to send a big thank you for our dog Shyla. She was a three year old lab mix that was chained up outside her whole life. We adopted her from Pet Haven in 2007.

We unfortunately lost her this weekend to a tumor in her lung, which was making it hard for her to breathe. Even to the end she was the sweetest, nicest best dog in the whole world. We are truly broken hearted but were so fortunate that you guys took the time to rescue her and care for her when most would have written her off.

The hair around her neck never did grow back, but please know that her previous life was a distant memory due to the fact that she was pampered and enjoyed life to the fullest. She also could never pass up the chance to go after a squirrel, mouse or any other rodent that happened to come into our yard. Never killed one, just liked the game :)

Thank you for all the wonderful work you do! I forgot about Shyla's previous blog post and when I went back to read it, of course I started to bawl just because I can't believe that Shyla was as sweet as she was with such a horrible start. She never did like wearing a collar so we only made her wear it when we were camping. Now I can see why! The picture above is Shyla on the North shore on one of our last camping trips with her. She was just starting to get sick at this point but I am glad that she made the trip with us. 

So, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for saving our beautiful Shyla. She had a fantastic life. Once our hearts are healed we are going to again adopt a Rosie's Red Lake dog! They are the best. If there is anything we can do in honor of Shyla please let us know. Thank you.

KAREN EXPLAINS:

This dog Shyla was very special and the very first dog we ever got placed at Pet Haven back in 2007. Since then, we have placed many dogs with them, so you can see how Shyla was the beginning of a very important relationship with Pet Haven.  Ann was the intake person at that time.

It is so ironic that Shyla would pass within a few weeks from when Elly May passed.  They were both rescued from the same place in the winter of 2006 and most likely related -- maybe even sisters. Please read the earlier blog posts with their stories.
