MCs for the event are the members of the KFAN Power Trip Morning Show: “Superstar” Mike Morris, Cory Cove, Chris Hawkey and Paul “Meatsauce” Lambert.

The rescue organizations will also be at the event so you can learn more about their organizations, find out what it takes to become a foster home or even adopt a cuddly new addition to your family.

Pause 4 Paws raises funds to assist animal shelters and rescue organizations that are dedicated and passionate about saving and improving the lives of dogs and cats.

This annual event drives their fundraising and networking efforts in order to help animals in need. Their priorities include providing spay/neuter clinics, healthcare resources, meeting basic requirements of needy animals and helping find them their forever homes.

BAILEY NOWOn August 22nd Bailey was brought to the Ponemah shuttle for the clinic. This little brindle beagle mix was a very timid and sweet dog. The girl that brought her along with one other said that she rescued them from the Ponemah dump and was trying her best, but did not have food and medicine to cure their mange.

Both Kingston and Bailey came to the shelter after they were fixed at the clinic, and, on September 7, Bailey left for a foster home with Pet Haven.

We are so happy to have these 2 dear Ponemah dogs get the help they needed. They have been eating nonstop for the past 3 weeks as they were so hungry on arrival.

I'll bet Goldie's a Gopher fan!

Goldie, a male mix golden retriver mix, has been a homeless dog for a long time in Red Lake.

Carol has been feeding him and brought Goldie to the August clinic. There he was spotted by Meredith a volunteer from RAGOM (Retrieve a Golden of Minnesota) who was at the clinic. We had no space at the shelter and poor Goldie would have been neutered and released again to the streets. Thankfully Meredith and RAGOM took Goldie into their program and he is now up for adoption!!

Goldie #11-292

Goldie is an approximate 1 year old Golden Retriever mix who was found as a stray. He was neutered on August 22 and is up to date on shots. He is heartworm negative and is currently being treated for parasites.

This boy is a total Love Bug and is a joy to foster. He does great on the leash and after 2 days of struggling to get him in the wire crate he now heads in with no resistance. Loves his food and exhibits no resource guarding. Likes other dogs and will introduce him to kids in a few days.

He had his vet check yesterday and charmed all the staff at the Annandale Vet Clinic.

He weighs 68lbs and has a typical Golden coat on his back and legs with a thicker heavier coat on his head and neck. He loves to be brushed ( except for his tail ) and he is becoming a real beauty.

Goldie will be at Godzilla on September 17th and is looking forward to making his RAGOM debut.

UPDATES:
09/09/2011:

Goldie is doing just FABULOUS ! He adjusted to traveling this past weekend and enjoyed it at the lake. He loves going for walks ( is great on the leash) and being brushed. He has a beautiful gait and his little ears bounce up and down with every step. He was great with my two granddaughters ages 5 and 7 and loves people in general. I am followed at all times when he is out of the crate.

He is in the toddler stage but does have supervised free roam in the house throughout the day. Does not mind the large wire crate and now heads in there when I say " kennel" ...of course there is a treat that follows!

Goldie is meeting a couple in the next few days to see if they are a good fit for his forever home.

Transport to ARVSS

EMILEEARVSS (Animal Rescue & Veterinary Support Services) has once again taken a load of puppies and 2 litters with nursing mamas on Saturday September 3rd into their foster care program. With the crowded conditions at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, it was a great blessing.

TRANSPORT DRIVERSThe transporters once again stepped forward to get these kids on their journey were Nancy and Tom O'Sullivan, Carolyn, Kristen, and Barb who run hundreds of miles on a regular basis helping the animals get to their new homes.

BUDDYBuddy was found as a stray puppy wandering the streets in Ponemah and hungry at the last clinic in September. He is a great dog and has fattened up nicely.

CHUNKAChunka a little husky pup was found on the highway and brought to the shelter.

ELSAElsa is a little pom that had mange and was surrendered at the last clinic.

MCKAYLAMcKayla and Emilee were surrendered as stray at the clinic.

JONESYJonesy was brought by Tony as an unwanted stray.

JOELLA & JONESSAJoella and Jonessa are littermates from a group of 4 pups that went to ARVSS last month. The owner wanted to keep 2 pups and one was found at the Redby dump and the other was surrendered by owner later on. We were happy to be able to save the last 2 girls from this litter. They came in starving and left happy and plump.

ROSALEEROSALEE'S PUPSRosalee, the chocolate lab was starving and mangy when Tony drove her out with her litter of eight tiny one-week-old puppies. Rosalee was a great mom and started to produce massive amounts of milk after she started eating well. One day Geri caught Rosalee trying to take her puppies out in the woods at RLRR shelter, and thankfully we got her to give us the puppy and return it to the kennel. We had to start keeping Rosalee contained after that, and letting her out and locking up her puppies for safekeeping.

RAYA AND PUPSRaya was a darling- She came in at the clinic with a litter of 3 survivors. A few days before the clinic 3 tiny pups were brought in to the shelter that still had the cord and placenta. Unfortunately, they all died before the mama could be found and brought to the shelter to be with them.

Raya suffered malnutrition and mange and this was no doubt her first litter as she was having newborn pups everywhere in the Bartons area. She turned out to be a great mom to the last 3 pups. Jo, who is the Chairperson of the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue Board, brought the 3 pups belonging to Raya to the shelter.

The are all safely at ARVSS foster care now.

ARVSS and our friends in Red Lake lost a wonderful little puppy to the deadly disease Parvo. She was loved by many people in her short life! A very special angel has just received a very special puppy! RIP Chunka

On August 7th, the O'Sullivans, Barb, and Kristen transported a group of lovely dogs to ARVSS including 2 puppies, Kimba (White Lion) and Pomona from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue.

JOE AND ROBINAlso, we had a special rider on the transport, a baby robin that Carol's son Joe rescued after a storm when the little bird apparently had fallen from a nest and had blown into their yard.

ROBINJoe had dug worms and kept the little robin alive until we found a place for him.

NANCY & TOM AND CAROL Thankfully, Wild and Free came through again and took the little robin into their program at Garrison. This program is great and will even drive miles to save a baby robin which tells you how dedicated they are. They have never turned down a animal in need.

Puppy Packer fan??

Here is an update on Jack who left Red Lake Rosie's Rescue as a mangy matted puppy with no hope. Now he is a fine healthy boy and now is adopted!!

We love what ARVSS does to transform our little sick puppies. They are never particular about their condition and always seem to help them become the beautiful animals they were meant to be!.

The puppy you named Jack --and we had to rename Malcolm because we have had too many Jacks in the rescue already--is now named Lambeau :)

The family took a long time in picking him out! They were also looking at Anita and the two Shih tzu's :)---But Dad bonded with the little boy right away!

I have attached pictures of when he arrived at ARVSS, after we shaved his mats and with one of his new owners!

They tell me he is just the best puppy and they are thrilled to have him :)

Freckles & her kittens

The night before the May clinic, there was a large dump of cats on the driveway in the middle of the night at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. There were seven adult cats and a mama cat with her newborn litter.

The mama was very skinny and had little milk. Her five kittens were newborn, perhaps a day old. The runt died on day 2 here at the shelter.

We are feeding mama kitten kibble and canned food and she is trying to be a good mama.

I know the metro is clogged up with kittens, but do you suppose there is a foster home out there for this little teen mama?

When I received this note from Karen, I decided this group probably needed an experienced foster mom -- like me! The kittens were tiny and the mom was emaciated, dehydrated and had diarrhea. It took three trips to the vet for fluids, medicine, and special food, but all recovered fully. They were spayed/neutered on Tuesday and are ready for adoption!

Mom is a sweet, loving tortie with a bright speckled face, so I've named her Freckles.

The four kittens are three boys, two orange and one black, and one girl who is a tortie mini of her mom.

From left to right, Dorito is all bright orange with stripes and spots and Diego is a slightly buff orange with white feet and chest. The two orange boys are great pals and love to play.

The dark kittens are quieter and more lovey; they also tend to pair off together. Twyla is a pretty little fluffy dark tortie girl with an extra toe on one front foot -- how special! Twizzler is a sleek black kitten with an extra toe on each front foot and he is the biggest lap kitty of all.
