BFFs Kora & Sookie

To all the amazing people at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, we wanted to share an update and some pictures of our 2 beautiful girls, both whom were rescued by RLRR.

KORAKora (formerly known as Skye) was adopted nearly 3 years ago through Pleading Paws. She was only 8 weeks old when we brought her home, and has grown into such a beautiful, smart and loving part of our family. She was part of a litter of 12 that had been through abuse and neglect that I still find shocking.

SOOKIEJust 3 weeks ago, we were lucky enough to adopt Sookie (formerly known as Sybil) through All Dog Rescue. You had found her on a December night when it was 30 below. She had one of her pups with her, and the others had frozen to death. It still breaks my heart to think of it. Sookie is such a gentle, loving girl and she and Kora have instantly become best friends. We are so fortunate to have them both in our lives and our family!!

KORA & SOOKIEBoth girls love to play in the snow, wrestling and playing tug of war with just about anything they can find out there. At the dog park, people constantly comment on how beautiful they are. We're looking forward to starting some training with Sookie, although she doesn't really seem to need a whole lot since she's such a smart girl. We're already talking about trips to the lake this Summer with them, and we hope that Sookie likes to swim as much as Kora does.

Sybil settles into her foster home

Karen,

First of all, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do for the dogs. It is truly amazing and you renew my faith in humankind on a daily basis.

Secondly, I wanted to update you on Sybil! I am fostering her and she is doing awesome! We have had 3 off leash trips to the river so far and she is loving it! She is so loyal and never strays far.

At home, she quickly learned that my house is her house, and while, she seems to prefer the wood floor, her super cozy dog bed is ready for her (along with any couch or bed too!) when she wants it. At the moment she is curled up at my feet, sound asleep after a long run.

She is a total sweetheart that has already captured our hearts.

UPDATE: Here new favorite spot is smack in the middle of the guest room bed on the down comforters! We groomed her on Saturday and she looks so beautiful! Thanks so much for getting her out of the cold! She is so great!

Frigid transport saves lives

LAURA, THE VAN, THE DOGS AND THE COLD WINTER SKYWe are so happy here at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue to have Dee Dee and Laura come at just the right time. The temperature had plummeted to a 31 below zero wind chill, when 21 dogs/pups and 6 cats/kittens rode out Friday, December 11 at about 10:00am in warm crates lined with soft, warm pads.

DEE DEE AND LOADED VANOnly a few days ago, a litter of pups, a kitten, a chihuahua we call Penelope, Sybil a shep and her puppy Sunny were all found at a cold garbage dumpster on the Red Lake Reservation- Yes, some died, but the survivors traveled as "precious" cargo in the care of Dee Dee and Laura. Our special thanks to Polly and Carol who braved the cold and made multiple trips to rescue them from the dumpster area.

DUMPSTER PUPSPENELOPESWEET SYBILWe are honored to have dedicated people who travel hundreds of miles to work so hard and deliver all these animals to their more comfortable indoors climate. A big thanks to all the big hearted rescues and shelters taking these animals including Pet Projects, Second Hand Dog, All Dog Rescue, Tri-County Humane Society, and Red Lake Rosie's foster homes.
