Maxine Fund update

So happy to get an update on Maxine- A special thank you to all the contributors to the "Maxine Fund" and to Dr. Melissa of Mn Paws - also to Heather for getting the surrender. Maxine now has been adopted! The change in this dog is truly remarkable; look at the original post about her HERE.

MAXINE AFTER SURGERY
UPDATE FROM DR. MELISSA:
Hi Karen,

Thanks for sending the check for Maxine. She was adopted into her new home on Sunday. We never thought we'd find her a home so quickly! She is doing amazingly well. She is getting stronger by the day, and walks better on her legs now than she did before surgery. Her physical therapy instructions say she should "walk, play, and jump as much as possible". She is doing that and more!

MAXINE & WALTER HER RLRR BRO IN FOSTER CARE
GOLDEN BRO AND NEW ADOPTIVE FAMILY
There's a middle-aged (but active) Golden Retriever in the new home and she keeps him on his toes. Her new mom said she exhausts him by the end of the day! She came to visit us at the clinic on Friday.

CAR RIDES ARE FUN
She spent most of the time in the exam room upside-down asking for belly rubs:) She is a lovely dog, a real clown, who loves everybody she meets. Thank you for saving her. I'm attaching some pictures of her. Walter was her foster brother (the brown brindle guy), he also came from Rosie's.

Maxine Gets Her Big Break!

Red Lake Rosie’s said goodbye to Maxine on Saturday, August 30th.

KAREN SAYS FAREWELL; MAXINE SAYS THANKS
Maxine was surrendered at our June clinic after she had been hit by car in Ponemah and has lived at the Red Lake Rosie’s shelter since that time. Maxine turned out to be a wonderful dog with broken
hips, pelvis and rear hock. Amazingly able to walk and loved to wiggle her tail in spite of her painful injuries. See the first post HERE.

BEASTIE AT RLRR WISHES HER WELL

We raised a total of $620 to help with a portion of Maxine’s medical needs. Dr. Melissa Dewoskin , DVM and her rescue Minnesota Paws has taken on Maxine and will help her with the necessary surgery, remaining expenses , aftercare and placement in her forever home.

MAXINE AND HER NEW PALS
Maxine is a wonderful dog, and has already made friends with her new guardians in the metro area. Although we are sadly missing Mrs. Wiggleworm and her perpetually wagging tail, we are so happy that she now gets the medical help she deserves.

A special thank you to the generosity of donors, transporters, and Minnesota Paws for helping Maxine, another great Red Lake dog!

Update: Maxine has a rescue, but needs a foster home!

We introduced you to Maxine last week. She was hit by a car on the Reservation and her family surrendered her to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue because they couldn't afford the extensive medical care she needs for her TWO broken hips and injured hock.

Minnesota Paws Rescue, under the direction of Melissa Dewoskin, DVM, has offered to do the surgery and rehabilitation that will follow, but they need a foster home for sweet Maxine to care for her day-to-day.

DR. MELISSA SAYS:
We will walk the foster family through surgery and be supportive the entire way through. It might be a long foster commitment, and the foster family will need to have a pretty low-key household. If anyone is interested, please contact minnesotapaws@gmail.com.

THANK YOU from Karen, Melissa and especially Maxine!!

Maxine needs funds for surgery

Meet Maxine (aka Maxi) who was surrendered because she was hit by car on the Red Lake Reservation during our June clinic. We posted her story and a short video on Red Lake Rosie's Rescue Facebook page on July 25.

According to x-rays, Maxi has two broken hips and one injured hock and still, miraculously, walks.

We do have a prospective vet and rescue that may take Maxine and we are offering to help pay for the surgery. All we have to offer Maxine is pain medications.

Prayers and funds needed to get this great dog the surgery she so desperately needs. She walks and wags her tail in spite of her injuries.

If you can help Maxine you may make a donation: Maxine Fund, Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, 23880 South Good Road, Trail, MN 56684.
