RLRR to Act V: Calypso, Loris, Panda & Cora

We've had some lovely updates from Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation about some of the Red Lake dogs and pups they have taken in.
Calypso, the shepherd mix, came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in desperate condition two years ago, but she is beautiful now and showing the ropes to Loris who came for fostering to her home.
Loris, the black lab mix, was the mama dog and pups given up by her family to RLRR, but Loris didn't understand that. She took off from RLRR and crossed 20-30 miles of wilderness to return to her former home. Karen happened upon her there alone and rescued her again. Loris needed treatment for Lymes and Heartworm, but is recovering well and she will be adopted into Calypso's family
Cora and Panda are two adorable little pups from RLRR now in foster care. If they aren't adopted yet, it won't be long. Lucky dogs!

Loris, Petey, Petra and Pluto go to Act V

Once again Act V Rescue & Rehabilitation really stepped up to help out Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in the aftermath of the clinic last week when at least 58 animals were surrendered.

This tiny twosome- Petey (now Yuri) and Petra, were found homeless and freezing. Now they are eating kibble, lapping water and loving canned foods. They are in a foster home together.

Dear Loris is at a foster home near the vet clinic for easy access to treatment for her heartworm treatment

Pluto came in with a group of black lab mix puppies, but he became very ill. He is in the hospital for round-the-clock treatment. He needs good thoughts from everyone.

Here's Loris!

Finally, we have some photos of Loris who was introduced in the last two posts.

Loris is about 45 pounds, she is spayed and has received her vaccinations. Unfortunately, she is Heartworm and Lymes positive, but she has a darling personality.

Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation is hoping to take her, but they are looking for a foster home. They already have her puppies in foster care.

Fingers crossed for Loris. She deserves a fresh start after traveling 20-30 miles through the wilderness to return to her family that she didn't understand had surrendered her...

Loris is found!!

You are not going to believe this- but today when we have a blog on the pups of Loris---and while running the shuttle for the spay/neuter clinic, I was next door to Loris' previous home to pick up another dog and----here she comes running over to the Red Lake Rosie's Rescue van--LORIS!!!

She had walked home all the way to Red Lake which is 32 miles to drive, perhaps 20 miles through wilderness with wolves. She was very hungry and hopped in willingly with me. She went to the clinic and got spayed, so I have her again.

She is so sweet and now I need a rescue to take her, too.

I was SOOOO happy as I have been looking for a long time and cannot believe the challenges of her journey!!

Puppy hug

A lady from Red Lake called to have a litter of puppies and their mama removed. Carol and Karen went to the residence and found Loris and her litter of 6 tiny pups. Loris was very malnourished and dehydrated.

It went well for 2 days, and then on day 3 mama Loris disappeared from the shelter. Her 6 puppies lapped milk and thrived until the following Saturday when they were tranported to Cass Lake where the puppy roundup was being held. Dr. Vickie of Act V was at the roundup and took the 6 puppies and they are now in foster care.

BEN (male) is the biggest pup.
CHESS (male) has cute white toes.
JUNIOR (male) is the smallest boy.
KATE (female) is the smallest and quietest. She follows her brothers around.
REAGAN (male) is buddies with Kate. He's one of the biggest boys.
RILEY (male) How cute is he??
Searches for Loris have been unsuccessful. Food and water is placed on the periphery of the shelter hoping that she would be in the area and maybe come back.

I am happy that the puppies are in good hands and continue to hold out hope for Loris.

Sincerely, Karen
