July 12 Transport

LAUREN AND MIKE AND RLRR MIKEMike and Lauren came to RLRR shelter once again and spent the weekend working and then took out a large transport on Sunday July 12th. Total 21 dogs and puppies and 3 cats and kittens left, all to foster care except 2 cats to Tricounty Humane Society.

MIKE AND LAURENThese two young people have been so helpful to the Red Lake animals. They have stayed at the shelter several times, and also came to the May clinic as volunteers. It is encouraging to see younger people interested in animal rescue and issues.

CINDERMISTEROn this trip they started painting the outside of the roundhouse. They made it 3/8 around and did a very nice job. They also painted the trim on the addition. Also, improving the grounds as well as spending time with the animals. They gave 5 mange baths to Mister, Jewelz, and the 3 tiny pups Toto, Tanya, and Teneka.

ERICA, ERIN, ELIZABETHDusty came badly matted and hungry. We got him vetted, shaven, and immunized. Isn't he handsome? He is in foster care with Laura.

DUSTY1DUSTY2Little Antonio Tony came to the shelter and had a rubber band around his tail and the tail falling off, so we took him to the vet and had his tail amputated. He was headed to Nancy at Pet Projects.

ANTONIO TONYBubba, the big white dog from the May clinic, and Survivor the kitten were also part of this transport.

A big thank you to the receiving organizations including Tricounty Humane Society, Caring Hands, Terresa and RLRR Petfinder foster homes, Pet Projects, Animal Ark, MARS, and Pet Haven.

Sincerely, Karen and RLRR

Bubba needs a foster home

Remember Bubba? He was my first story after the May clinic, but our initial plan for a foster home didn't work out, so he has been at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue waiting for a placement. This picture is from when he came in -- he was skin and bones and miserable, but patient and sweet with everyone.
I wanted to update you on Bubba the American Bulldog who was rescued from a chain under a tree with no bedding, food or water.

When he came to us, his head hung low and his spirit, it seemed, was broken. In 24 hours after he was at the clinic, he began to blossom. A special thanks to Carol, Susan and Colleen for bringing him out of his shell, and Dr. Charlie and Mary for giving him sub-cu feedings the first night.

Bubba is in a kennel at RLRR shelter. He is doing very well. He is gaining weight and socially doing very well. He goes out to exercise 2 times per day with other female dogs. He loves people too.
After he got rid of the tapeworm and has shelter, food, and water he is a very "classy" guy. He never poops or pees in his kennel. He can be seen reclining on a pallot we covered with plywood and blankets. His roof is tarp, and he enjoys his own space very much.

He is forever smiling.

After he exercises he willingly wants to return to his own kennel.

We are hoping that good news is coming shortly regarding a foster home for him. Kristin is working on it and is getting some good progress. We will keep you updated.

Sincerely, Karen

Bub, the skinny white bulldog

I was helping at the spay/neuter clinic at Red Lake last week. Many Thanks to all who helped in so many ways and especially Animal Ark and their Neuter Commuter and the team from Akin Vet Clinic. I'll be sharing many stories in the days to come.
Today is Bub the bulldog. He was chained outside and ignored; the pictures barely convey how skinny he is, but he was calm and sweet with everyone including children.
Hi, Karen;

Thank you so much for letting us be a part of the clinic last weekend. I hope we were more help than work for you to have around! I'm attaching some of the best photos I got of the bulldog, so you can use them for your blog.
I'm also trying to locate any contacts for American Bulldog rescue in the area - no luck so far, but if I find any I am going to pass their contact information along to you.
