Adventures of Molly and Nova

Marci and Tom adopted Molly from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue and have given her a very great life. Here is one of her adventures with her friend Nova.
Karen :-)
MOLLY AND NOVA
NOTE FROM ADOPTERS:
Hi Karen-Just had to send this story your way. This past Sunday, Tom, Molly, and I were out cleaning the back yard. Nova came over to play with Molly. As you all know, Molly is the "princess" who likes warm baths and hot tubs; Nova is the "tomboy" who loves cold water and dirt!
Tom had a plastic tote sitting by the fire pit which had been filled with the charred remains from the pit. It had rained heavily for the past several days, so the top of the tote was full of ice cold water...Nova decided to take a swim in the tote!
OMG! What a mess! Tom managed to get a few photos of Nova, before and after. Nova AND Molly had baths that night, as Nova shook all over Molly & rubbed up against her!

Molly

Hi Karen!

Just a quick update from our house to yours...

Molly is spoiled as ever and seems to get smarter every day. She certainly keeps us on our toes! Cute story for you...

Tom & I decided to get Miss Molly a new dog bed for one of her Christmas presents this year. Even though she doesn't lay in her own bed much (she prefers the couch by Mom or Dad's lap) and of course, sleeps in the "big bed" every night. But when we are watching TV at night, she will sometimes curl up in her bed. She is on her third bed (as she chewed the other two up. Anyway, her bed arrived the other day in a Dog.com box and it is like she knows it is for her so Molly started chewing the box corners to get what was inside. We let her have her bed early and she really loves it! It has a nice fleece lining and a therapy mattress.

Then, I was wrapping presents and here comes Molly down the stairs with one of her new toys in her mouth, squeaker blarring! Molly dug in my bags in the bedroom and found one of her Christmas toys a little early. You can't get anything past that dog!!

Will be sending a package your way in a few days. Will let you know when I mail it. Happy Holidays!

Love - Tom, Marci, & Molly

Molly's 4th birthday!

UPDATE:
We have had Molly for almost 4 years now! It doesn't seem possible...She is still the joy of our lives; currently she is with Dad at work. He is building a gazebo for a family with two dogs who live in the country and she goes with everyday and plays with Max while Dad works. She is having so much fun...A lot of ticks, but we have her medicated for that as well as lymes.

She is the most beautiful dog! We get stopped by total strangers so they can see our girl! She is still "IN CHARGE" of this family, but we just love her so much.

Our neighbors with the (3) bulldogs moved last month, but Molly still has the dog door to be with Nova and Woofer still visits as well. Max is her new "best buddy" but the gazebo should be done soon.

Here is a picture of Molly that I had framed for Tom on his birthday (May 29th). It was taken last month. Molly is in great shape from all the running and ball-playing!

We send our love -
Tom, Marci, & Molly

Molly Christmas!

We took some Christmas pictures of our Molly and just had to share them with you, Karen.
Molly is just the most wonderful dog ever. She gets more mellow every day, has lots of new "people friends", and we now call her "mush pot" as she gives kisses and hugs, and we taught her to smile!
My latest nickname at work is "Crazy Dog lady" because of how we spoil and love on Molly.
Molly is the smartest dog that Tom and I have ever seen and both of us have had lots of dog pets in our lifetime.
Everyone says she acts like a "person"...Molly is our "fur baby" for sure...Thank you for letting us have her in our lives!
Happy Holidays!
Love, Tom, Marci, and Molly

Molly is 3!!!

Dear Karen-

So much to tell you about! Molly turned 3 the end of July and we celebrated her birthday to the hilt! She had an awesome day and we just had to share her day with you - as if you hadn't rescued her, we wouldn't have her today...She brings constant joy to our lives...

We started with puppy invitations to all her "doggy friends".. We made doggy biscuits and I have some great recipes to share with everyone...We decorated the table with "doggy stuff" and made "doggy treat bags for all Molly's guests"... Below are some recipes for homemade puppy biscuits!

Molly had "playdates" with all her "best doggy buds" on her birthday.
Nova, Monroe, Carma, Maude, & Woofer.

Molly also had playdates with her favorite people: Bev, Travis, Mom, & Dad.

Of course, there were birthday cupcakes, each decorated with a puppy pick! Of course, Molly had one cupcake and just a little ice cream for dessert...

Of course, there were gifts...Molly loves opening her own presents for every occasion...

Molly's supper was "Gracie's Gourmet". At $3.79 a meal, they are for special occasions only, but Molly wolfed that dinner down like it was her last...And they are super healthy...

Her big treat was her "smoked Stittsworth's bone", which Molly gets when she has been a very good girl...

Molly ended her birthday in the "big bed" between her two favorite people, Mom & Dad...She had "doggy" playdates, she played ball, she went swimming, she had treats, she had presents, she had an awesome dinner, she had dessert, she had a big bone, and she had love and attention all day long. Not unlike most days of Molly's life...

Since we rescued Molly (or, Molly rescued us) she has filled our lives with joy and love. She is definitely spoiled, but in a good way; with lots of love, attention, & praise. Molly is not chained in the yard, she is free to roam not one, but two fenced yards. She runs free in the house while we are at work, she sleeps in comfort with pillows, blankets, heat, or air conditioning.. She is not kenneled, she is not tied, she is free of everything that happened to her before she came to us. Molly doesn't have to worry about her safety; she worries about ours...She never goes to bed hungry, hurt, or afraid of what might happen to her next. She is "our baby" and she brings so much joy to our household every single day...

So to everyone that has ever fostered or adopted a "rescue", our hats are off to you. They are not the easiest animals to acclimate to society, but with enough love, anything is possible. Our Molly has changed our lives....And we feel it is an honor and a privilege to have changed hers.

Keep up the great work, Karen!

RLRR thanks Red Lake elementary students!

On Wednesday, March 7, Carol Priest, a Red Lake Rosie's Rescue Board member went to the Red Lake Elementary School for their morning assembly to receive a donation raised by the students.

CAROL, MOLLY, AND MAUREEN (LOVE THE DOG EARS!!)Our family's Red Lake rescue dog Molly accompanied me, and was very warmly received by the kids. Molly is a collie and husky mix who was found abandoned with 2 siblings as a puppy, and is about 18 months old.

Red Lake Rosie's has become the Red Lake Elementary School students' favorite place to donate over the past few years, and this year they presented us a check for $363.14. I congratulated them on raising so much money!

Molly was the perfect "spokesdog", and greeted all the kids as they filed out of the gym to head for class. Our thanks again to the Red Lake Elementary students and organizer Michelle Stapleton for helping the animals of Red Lake!

Sincerely,
Carol

Mike & Lauren: BUSY visit/BIG transport

Mike and Lauren visited Red Lake Rosie's Rescue once again. Lauren arrived Wednesday, February 23rd, and Mike arrived Friday February 25th with a rented van provided by our metro support group and friends. The van was loaded with food, crates and supplies to help the shelter and community animals.

MIKE AND THE RENTED VANThe days passed quickly as we were busy taking care of many animals that came and also visited the Red Lake Elementary School with humane education classes.

LAUREN AND MONSTERLauren took special care of all the cats and a little neonatal litter of 3 tiny three-week-old orphan pups that arrived on Tuesday night. The mama was dead, and so Lauren tried her best to feed and care for them. We lost the struggle with two, however, Monster, the little male rode out with Lauren today enroute to Act V where he will get great care.

We also had many trips to the vet during the week.

APPLEMike spent lots of time organiziong and unloading food and supplies into the barn leaving us well-stocked. He brought donations from all corners of the metro.

SLATEAs usual, we had community members that stopped by the shelter. One man stopped for a dog house and some straw for his dog who needed shelter and food, another man stopped in who needed food as well. A couple stopped by to get some wormer for their 4 cats who needed help. We have a great connection to the community and the residents feel comfortable asking for help.

LAUREN & GREMLINLauren and Mike left at 9:00 am on Sunday February 27th loaded with 10 cats and 17 dogs and puppies off to many rescues including Pet Haven, A Rotta Love, TLC, Act V, Feline Rescue, Tricounty Humane Society, All Dog Rescue, Second Hand Dogs, St. Francis of Assissi, and Maia Pet Project.

MOLLYDOLLYThey will meet the O'Sullivans in Bemdji to add 2 more small dogs to the van.

TOBYToby went to Maia Pet Project

STANLEY STEAMERStanley Steamer was found wandering in the west end on the road in very cold weather. A nice man found him and brought him to the shelter. He is at St Francis now. (Stanley Goes to School - will be another blog post as we took Stanley with us when we went to do humane education last Friday!)

JETTAJetta was rescued by Polly and is enroute to TLC

FOUR SHEP PUPSA little litter of 4 scaredy pups are on their way to TLC. Mike and Lauren warmed them up quickly.

CARRIE, THE CARROTA cat with seniority, Carrie, The Carrot leaves for Feline Rescue after being free in the cathouse since August. She is a darling cat.

GILDAGilda, a little garbage dump rottweiller was rescued by Polly and gets to go to A Rotta Love.

BLAISEIt is amazing the teamwork and support we have to benefit the Red Lake animals! There are so many good people and rescue groups out there that help us make a difference by each doing what they do best.

MIKE & LITTLE PUPSLAUREN & LITTLE PUPSA special thank you to Mike and Lauren for their dedication and kindness. They have a great way of being able to reach all the animals, and even the fearful ones are trusting of them in a very short time.

JONIIt is peaceful at the shelter today and a sense of relief as Mike and Lauren drove off, knowing we have moved out animals with hope for the future and made space for the upcoming clinic surrenders and others that will need our help in the meantime.

THANK YOU ALL.
Sincerely, Karen RLRR
