Gillian growing up

GILLIAN AT RED LAKE ROSIE'S RESCUE
Gillian is a parvo survivor. A special thank you to Dee Dee for fostering her and finding her a great home.  It's what we hope for every animal in our care.
GILLIAN IN FOSTER CARE
Below is a letter and pair of photos received recently from the family that adopted dear Gillian.

Karen :)
UPDATE FROM GILLIAN'S NEW HOME:
DeeDee--
I’ve enclosed a couple of photos of Gilly taken in early May along the Kinnickinnic River,  You can see she has grown a lot and continues to.  She is about 50# now.

We love our Gilly dearly.  She’s just wonderful in every way. She is sweet and affectionate as you know, and smart as a whip.  She picks up things (training, whatever) so fast.

She has become such a elegant and graceful dog.  She leaps and bounds through the woods like a deer.  People comment on her agility and grace when we take her to the dog park in Maplewood. She loves swimming and playing in the water.  She also fetches sticks and balls, bringing them back to the thrower.  She jumps really high, but hasn’t caught on to grabbing the Frisbee from the air yet.

Thank you again for fostering Gilly and helping her find her way into our lives.  We cherish her.

Sincerely,
L & B

Gillian likes snow :-)

Little mangey Gillian, who also had parvo, has been adopted and has a great update!! She spent time at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue and then in Sandy and Dee Dee's foster care. You MUST take a look at the BEFORE photos by linking to this post.

Thank you all for her survival and great home! Karen

NOTE FROM ADOPTERS:
Gillian is adjusting well to her new home. She is full of energy and is keeping us on our toes!  She is super sweet and we love having her here very much.

We took her up to Alexandria last weekend to visit Lorie's parents and she traveled well and was a gracious guest. It was like she had been there before.  We took her snowshoeing in Lake Carlos State Park and she was great - she can be off the leash now at most places we take her around River Falls as well.

I've included a few photos of our snowshoe adventure and a few of her crashed afterwards.  You can see what is left of her giant rawhide bone in the pic of her sleeping.

Gillian McGillicuddy

Little Gillian, who later became known as Mrs. McGillicuddy, arrived on December 7th from Leech Lake Legacy. She had no where to go because she had mange, starvation, and dehydration. So, Red Lake Rosie's Rescue took her in to recover.

The first night she was in an outdoor kennel, but the next morning, she was moved into Karen's house as she was not doing well. Her hair was so sparse and her appetite not very good.

Gillian soon broke out with parvo and went to the Clearwater Veterinary and spent several days receiving sub cu feedings, and soon began to eat boiled walleye which she kept down and seemed to like in spite of her sickness.

In a few days Gillian was improving, and started acting like a happy puppy should. Gillian was a very affectionate pup who loved to snuggle and play with her ball and other toys. She loved to wear her little coats as she went for winter walks.

Gillian left on transport on December 27th with O'Sullivans and John enroute to her new foster home with Sandy. This little girl, possibly the only survivor in her litter, now will have a chance for a good life. Gillian will be available for adoption from Red Lake Rosie's when she is spayed and ready for her new home.

Thank you all who helped this little girl get a new life in spite of her many challenges. She is missed here as she is a very special girl.

Sincerely, Karen
