Hi Karen,Cornelius did very well and was released along with three other goslings that were all about the same size. I'm sure he's doing fine and getting ready to fly south for the winter.

Cornelius has flown the coop!
Here's the update on Cornelius the Canadian Goose gosling (check out his story at this link) from the Wild and Free Wildlife Rehab Center!!
Hi Karen,
Cornelius did very well and was released along with three other goslings that were all about the same size. I'm sure he's doing fine and getting ready to fly south for the winter.

Saving Cornelius from the jaws...
ABOUT CORNELIUS
On May 14, Cornelius arrived in the jaws of Hazel—one of our (doggie) girls. Thankfully Hazel’s teeth leave a lot to be desired, so we were able to rescue the little gosling unharmed.
After networking with a friend and checking the internet, we discovered that chick-starter, water, a warm blankie, a mirror, and (oh yes) tropical fish food are all you need to make a happy goose. Knowing it’s illegal to keep a Canadian gosling, we made arrangements with Wild and Free Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Garrison to transport him to their sanctuary, where he can be returned to the wild with other gosling orphans.
Meanwhile, after we unsuccessfully tried to reunite him with his parents (who were out the next morning calling for him) he slept in the cathouse bathroom, followed us around and fell asleep in bed watching t.v. with this volunteer.
He liked to be held and talked to. Hence the mirror—we didn’t want him to forget who he is. As a result he would talk to his image and sleep next to the mirror.
Maybe someday he’ll do a fly-by out in the yard where we found him, letting us know he’s wild and free.
