Keep cool!

The puppy formerly known as Radar was found at a dump by Red Lake Rosie's Rescue, but now has a pool, a tennis ball, doggie friends, and a loving mom at his new forever home :-)

NOTE FROM NEW MOM TO FOSTER MOM LINDA:
Everything is going great with my new puppy. I renamed him Gurino, which means to guard and protect. He is definitely doing that!

He has grown so much since I got him. He's about 30+ pounds now and getting taller too. His ears are beginnig to stand up and his tan and white is spreading to his cheeks and behind his ears.

Gurino loves the water, loves other puppies and dogs, enjoys trips to the dog park and long walks, and grandpa thinks its his first grandchild!

I am very lucky to have him and he is a very loyal, sweet, loving and strong pup. I adore him.

Thank you for allowing me the chance to raise one of your babies and enjoy him so much!

Special Mother's Day transport

Mother's Day was special this year. Karen and Carol of Red Lake Rosie's Rescue met the O'Sullivans enroute to the Leech Lake Pound and then on to Motley. There they met Heidi, Jen, and Barbie to take the animals on to their new foster homes and shelters in the metro.

ALMAA little cat found in a tree in Ponemah was brought to the shelter and only spent two days here before Feline Rescue took Alma in. Now she has a bright future.

BOBBI & BARBIEBobbi Ann and Barbie are two juvenile homeless kittens that were found on the White Earth Reservation by Nancy, a teacher at the school. These girls went to AHS where they will be spayed and adopted out.

CHESSYChessy was a stray puppy in Red Lake that went to Animal Ark where there was already a call for a blue-eyed husky. She came in shy but came around real nicely.

PRINCESSPrincess was accepted by All Dog Rescue when they learned that her family became homeless and could no longer keep her. We have hopes for Princess now that she has a foster home to help her heal her heart.

PARISRADARAvis found two puppies at the Redby garbage dump and brought them to the shelter. Paris and Radar both went to All Dog. Both were beautiful animals and so sad that people think that animals are garbage! Avis keeps a watch on the Redby dump and is doing a great job!

LYLELeah and Lyle are two darling pups that came from Ponemah. Tony gave them a ride to the shelter. They, too, went to All Dog.

SAPPHIRESapphire, a very lovely husky shepherd mix, was found at the Red Lake garbage dump during the April clinic. She was rescued by Carol and is so happy to go to a foster home with All Dog.

ANNA BANANAAnna Banana was a return from Tricounty. This little girl was adopted once and returned when the family moved, so we got her back. Now she is off to Pet Haven to a foster home.

BRIANBrian was among the riders going to Act V for necessary neck surgery. We'll share much more about him in the days to come.

JOE, NANCY, CAROL, TOMWe appreciate the partnerships we have and teamwork that helps more animals than we could have imagined a few years ago. We appreciate how all the transporters and rescues respond to the needs of the animals we find. And, as always, thanks to the people whose financial support -- large and small -- helps us to get emergency medical care for the animals as needed.

Sincerely, Karen RLRR

Chow time

KAREN SENT OUT A PLEA FOR DOG FOOD RECENTLY:
Hi Friends:

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue has thankfully been able to transfer many animals to recues the past months. We have gotten plenty of cat canned and kibble, however, are very low on dog food. We have puppy kibble but not much adult dog food left.

People from Red Lake and other areas of the reservation have been coming for food and we have very little to give. (They are actually mixing dog food with some cat food for filler, as we have the cat kibble. Not the greatest, but better than having nothing in their stomachs)

I was wondering of any of the great volunteers getting food from Chuck and Don's have any food collected?

Thank you so much for your help in keeping the dogs at the shelter and those hungry in the community fed.

One day last week we had EIGHT dogs reported in Red Lake with porcupine quills. When dogs are hungry they hunt for food- and when they have to eat porcupine, the results are not good.

Have a nice day and let me know if you have collected any food.
Sincerely, Karen Good

AS USUAL RLRR SUPPORTERS RESPONDEDSome badly needed food supplies were received by Red Lake Rosie's Rescue thanks to the generosity of Erich Russell, John Vaughn, Jenny Fitzer, Pet Haven, Ann Vareka, MaryAnn Cameron, Target, K-Mart, Chaska Shed, AHS, and Chuck & Don's.

MIKEWe estimated the load to be about 2,700 lbs.

TOMTom, my sister Carolyn, and I met Erich and John in Little Falls, loaded up the trailer, and then headed back to RLRR to fill up the empty food shelves.

MIKE WITH RADAR & LEO (puppies found at the dump) AND FAWNIt was an ideal variety of food for all of the animals. Great team work required.....a huge thank you to all involved.

KARENIt was a long day but a very good day overall. We are grateful to everyone
who pitched in on such short notice to help provide much-needed food for the animals at RLRR!

NANCYThanks so much.............
