Update on Bronson

Remember Bronson? He came in with a mangled and infected leg. After an amputation of the leg, he almost immediately let a smile (and a cone) be his umbrella. Bronson is at Animal Ark and I requested an update:

BRONSON POST OPHi Denise
Bronson is doing GREAT!! He pulls me through the kennels to get outside - very strong guy!!

He still needs a home - but his amputation has not slowed him down a bit! LOVES to get outside and is almost ready for a forever home . . . definitely is ready for a foster-to-adopt home!!

He's a good boy who just needs some attention and some obedience training - he met a child today and was terrific with him, he's actually great with everyone he meets! However, he might knock down a very small child if the parents don't monitor the interactions - which sounds kind of funny with a 3 legged dog, but that's how great he's doing with getting around!

I'm not sure he really knows his back leg is gone - that just reinforces to me that animals can adjust just fine with amputations and don't need to be put down if it comes to losing their limb or their life!

We all love Bronson at Animal Ark, but would be very pleased if we could find him a family and a new life!

Thanks for asking,
Mary & Mallory

Est. Age on Arrival at Animal Ark: 10 Months

Hi! My name is Bronson and I have had a rough start in life. I was found in Red Lake with a mangled back leg. I was brought to the Cities, where surgery was performed and my leg was amputated. I am doing really well and will soon be able to get around just as well as my four legged friends. If you are looking for a really nice, sweet boy, then I'm your guy!

Bronson thanks you!

Bronson, our recent amputee, is one happy dog and wants to say thank you to all the kind people who pledged money to help pay his vet bill!

BRONSONAlso, thanks to Animal Ark for their kindness in taking Bronson for his aftercare and adoption. What a great dog he is!

BRONSONWhat started out to be a transport to get Bronson out to fostercare, turned into a transport to get 14 dogs and puppies out to potential forever homes.

TRANSPORT TEAMKaren, Carol, and her daughter brought animals to Bemidji and met the O'Sullivans who went on with the dogs and puppies to Motley where they met DeeDee who took the last leg to the metro area with Bronson trying to snuggle onto her lap.

TRANSPORT TEAM
TOM'S T-SHIRTHere are some pictures of the group. We especially liked Tom O'Sullivan's tee shirt he wore for the occasion.

JANNAJanna was found on the highway in the middle of nowhere. Waldo came from the Bemidji Pound scheduled to be euthanized. Both of them were transported to TriCounty.

BRADY & DUSTYDUSTYBRADYBrady and Dusty were 2 feral pups tamed by Carol and her family and taken by All Dog Rescue.

ARETHAARETHAAretha, a little pit bull lab mix, got a special placement with All Dog Rescue. We found her at the garbage dump in March and really had no place to take her because of her breed. She was a very sweet dog and I'm so glad she is getting a chance.

GARVINGARVINGarvin was a lonely little shep pup who got to go to TLC where we found out he was happy to join 3 other puppies.

FIVE PUPSFIVE PUPSA litter of 5 unwanted pups arrived the night before the transport and thankfully went to Tricounty for adoption.

LACEYLacey was a beautiful juvenile shepherd found as a stray with a tight collar. She had obviously been on a chain all her life. Her fur was all mottled with metal around her neck which is evidence of long-term chaining. We are hoping that will never happen to her again. She also went to Tricounty.

Thanks to everyone who made these rescues possible!

URGENT: Dog with mangled leg in need

Dear Friends:

Red Lake Rosie's Rescue took in a dog we've called Bronson Tuesday afternoon from the housing projects in Redby, MN. Bronson had a mangled rear leg (cause of injury is unknown to us). We took him directly to the Clearwater Vet who confirmed that the leg was infected and, in fact, decomposing. It was necessary to amputate the leg today.

Bronson is a 1 - 2 year-old shepherd mix, who should weigh about 60 lbs, but is very thin now. He is a very nice boy who did not complain once even in his terrible condition. He has been tested heartworm negative, Lymes positive. He has been sedated and on antibiotics and IV fluids since we got him to the vet.We desperately need foster care for this dog that can provide the aftercare he needs, either through another rescue or a volunteer for Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. We can transport him this weekend and need to do so because he cannot get the care he needs here.

Also, the bill for Bronson's vet care is $630.00 and we really have a limited vet budget -- We have money that is designated for spay/neuter, but hardly anything for general medical.

If you could make a donation toward Bronson's care, please donate using PayPal on the Red Lake Rosie's website www.redlakerosie.org or you may send checks to Red Lake Rosie's Animal Fund Account at:

Sincerely,
Karen Good, RLRR
