Tessa/Tillie:: From feral to family!

Tessa, a very shy dog in the McBride’s projects, was surrendered to Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue. Tessa was a stunning juvenile tri-colored long-haired shepherd, but was very frightened and was difficult for the owner to catch so we could take her.

She spent about one week at the Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue and learned reluctantly to walk on leash. When she got off leash, she was mistrustful of people and was difficult to get back in the kennel. She often hid in the dog enclosure of the kennel.

Also surrendered that day was Teddy another beautiful long-haired male shepherd, possibly Tessa's littermate.Teddy was transferred to All Dog Rescue. We look forward to an update on Teddy's journey.

Pet Haven took Tessa into foster care and we recently received an update that she has been adopted. Thank you all for supporting Red Lake Rosie's Rescue! Had we not got Tessa & Teddy when we did, they would have lived short miserable lives as feral dogs. Just look at Tessa now, thanks to you!!

UPDATE FROM PET HAVEN:
I just thought you’d like to know that Tessa has found her home.

ROSCOE & TESSA (now TILLIE) and FAMILY
Merry said that Tessa was comfortable with them as soon as she met them. She’s now Tillie and the handsome guy on the left is Roscoe, an 8 year old flat-coat retriever who is apparently still a bit of a wild man and thus just her speed. They've got a fenced back yard to play in. We’re connected to them on Facebook so we’ll get updates on her.

Thanks for helping her get out of a bad situation and sending her on down to us, it was a fun month with her.

Tessa

In November, Red Lake Rosie's Rescue took in a little dog named Tessa from Leech Lake Legacy with suspected mange.  As it turned out, Tessa had severe flea dermatitis and spent only two weeks at the Red Lake Rosie's shelter and moved on to foster care with Crystal, our Red Lake Rosie's Pet Finder helper, in the metro area.  Tessa was a darling dog, but had high anxiety; she had wounds and hair loss.  She needed the special care of an experienced foster caregiver like Crystal.

UPDATE FROM CRYSTAL IN DECEMBER:
Tess is ready for adoption. She is really a regular little gal, Although she still scratches at the door when I leave, she is no longer possessive of me nor does she have to be by me every second. The kennel is the new playhouse in this house. The dogs take turns going in it and and napping; door always open, of course.

Tess does the cutest thing; she gathers all the toys and piles them up in the kennel; she is a resourceful little thing. A dog just never knows when she might need ten or twelve toys!  She loves running and chasing big dogs at the dog park and has so much fun. She is so well behaved and sweet, but still has a spunky side. She really is adorable,

Crystal

UPDATE FROM CRYSTAL IN JANUARY:
After conquering her separation anxiety and becoming a confident and healthy little girl, Tess found her forever home! Tessa is the second Red Lake dog that has joined this family. They previously adopted little Babette who is the other dog pictured. I'm glad that Tessa has children to play with as well as two other dogs.  Adopter has emailed that everything is going great and Tessa is a total joy!

Tessa & Tulip: Sisters adopted together :-)

Tessa and Tulip, two little frightened shepherds arrived at Red Lake Rosie's Rescue in early winter when the snows were just starting to fall.

These little girls were not in very good condition and were sent to TLC after two weeks. There they broke out with parvo, but thanks to Bob and Lisa they pulled through.
We have received more good news that now Tessa and Tulip, who are very bonded, have been adopted by the same family!

We are so happy for them. A third littermate Trapper is also looking for a new home.

Update on Tessa (f/k/a Mona)

NOTE FROM JODI with Cause4Paws:
I’m not sure if you guys remember this cat but she was from the RAVS clinic last year and had the week-old tiny babies with her. She came from the same home as Pete the poorly adjusted dog. This cat had the tail frozen off from last winter when she was an outdoor cat and spent the winter in the doghouse with Pete. She was relinquished to the owner’s probation officer and this kitty gave birth to 5 kittens at the probation officer’s home on July 11. The kitty went to the HSUS/RAVS spay/neuter clinic and afterwards I took Mona and babies home until all were adopted.

NOTE FROM ADOPTERS:
We adopted Mona, now Tessa, a couple of months ago. She has adapted really well to her new home and to the other cats. She has especially taken to our year old Coon cat. The two of them tear around the house like a pair of maniacs chasing each other and pretend fighting. I can't remember seeing a pair of cats who loved to run as much as these two. They started playing with each other within the first couple of weeks she was here.

She and my son Matthew have really bonded. She spends each night in his room, often sleeping on his stomach. You can tell that she considers him to be her person.
Almost from the first day she was here she showed that she was pretty outgoing. She is not afraid to tell you that she doesn't like something and will complain rather loudly about being taken off of a chair when a person wants to use it
.
She is very healthy and has gained about a pound since she got here. She does want to eat people food whenever she gets a chance, but we haven't had a very hard time keeping her away from that.

I've attached a couple of pictures of her. Hope you enjoy them as much as we are enjoying her. She is really a terrific addition to our house.
