NICK'S TRANSPORTWe had a new volunteer, Nick, visit the shelter arriving August 6th and leaving with a transport of 2 cats and 9 puppies and dogs on Sunday the 8th.
NICK AND DOGSNick was a great help at the shelter helping with daily chores and even learned how to drive the Bobcat with the loader. It was a real blessing to have weekend help to clean puppy pens and put down fresh cedar chips. He helped walk dogs, water, feed, and do all the necessary things to keep all the animals healthy and happy.
JASPERJasper, Ella and Shadow went to Act V.
ELLAElla was thrown away at the garbage dump- a beautiful girl with a broken front foot. Act V is helping her.
SHADOWShadow is a very nice black lab mama that we have had at the shelter for a month who is now in the great hands of Dr. Vickie at Act V. Her story is a special one.
SHADOW'S PUPS
SHADOW'S PUPSShe came in after she was found with a litter of puppies in a log pile this summer, and was limping and malnourished. One by one we got her puppies out- five altogether. Shadow's lst pup found was a tan female that went to Act V. 2 more recovered and l more recovered; these three went to ARVSS.
SHADOW'S LAST PUPThe very last pup was Rachel. She was near death from dehydration and starvation. She is doing very well now in foster care at Act V.
SHADOW & MILESShadow was spayed and vaccinated at Clearwater Vet and her blood test revealed she had heartworm, anaplasmosis and lymes. Additionally she had a uterine infection where buckshot pellets were found embedded at the time of her spay. Shadow left Sunday July 18 for Act V. Dr. Vickie reports that her xray also showed a bullet in her lower leg, which she will remove. Shadow, her pups, and Sheeba were all rescued from the same residence and both dogs had been shot! Thank you for Act V and all our supporters who made their rescue possible. They are both great dogs and were used as target practice by someone in the neighborhood.
RACHELThe miraculous part of this story is that these dogs were rescued over a period of a month and no one really can explain how little Rachel survived all this time by herself.
SAMMYSammy is a great guy brought from Ponemah and has a great personality and great future now in foster care with Pet Haven
PUPPY PILEThese five husky mix pups who went to TLC were found in the woods at 4 weeks- now at 6 weeks they are growing like weeds. (They were featured on the blog last week.)
LEROYPATCHESLeroy and Patches went to Feline Rescue. Handsome young Leroy was going to be shot, and we gladly took him and neutered him. Patches is a pretty dilute tortie. Feline Rescue reports that they are both very sweet cats and likely to be adopted soon!
Thank you to Nick, transporters, Denise and Laura and rescues for taking the animals for their second chance.
Sincerely, Karen
Sammy was the hit at our adoption event pulling in three applications. A home visit is scheduled for later this week with a very nice family.
