Zoe Bella

NOTE FROM ADOPTER:
My name is Kayla and I live in St. Cloud, MN, and this is Bella, she turned six years old this month. My place of employment adopted her from the Tri County Humane Society as Zoe back in June 2009 and renamed her Bella, but she didn't work out so I brought her home November 2009.

BELLA (formerly Zoe)
According to her paperwork, she originally came from Red Lake Rosie's Rescue. I thought you might like to see she is happy and well! This was taken at the lake this last summer. She was not a fan of water in the beginning but over the years has learned to enjoy it especially with her tennis ball!

She brings me so much joy and I could not imagine life without her -- Thank you!

Winter straw supply arrives

MONA AND PUPS
With winter approaching, the Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue is well prepared thanks to ABE! Fund providing the 300 bales of straw that was recently delivered. Straw is critical as an insulator to keep the dogs warm during the long and harsh winters here. It is also used as banking for the cattery to prevent the water pipes from freezing up.

The dogs love the dry straw and make their beds in it. Mona just arrived last night with her newborn litter of 7 puppies who were born yesterday in a dog house in Red Lake with no bedding at all. Now they are happy and warm!!

Lady Bug is admiring the dog house and the straw which she cuddles in to keep warm.

LADYBUG
RLRR is able to save many dogs and puppies from hypothermia thanks to the straw supply we have. We also provide straw to community dogs who would otherwise have nothing for shelter.

Thank you ABE! Karen

Give to the Max for RLRR, Nov.13

Winter is coming, and last winter was brutal for all of the animals living outdoors on Red Lake reservation.

For the dogs and cats suffering from starvation, dehydration, parasitic infections, injuries, and wounds, the frigid temperatures can be fatal.

Imagine having little fur, due to hair loss from mange; no stored fat to help keep you warm; and no place to rest except in the freezing rain, wind, or snow.

Imagine roaming in sub-zero temperatures and snowstorms looking for something to fill the hole in your belly.

Imagine giving birth to a litter of puppies on the icy ground.

Imagine your ears, nose, tail, and paws stinging and burning while they freeze solid.

WILLOW AT RLRR
A donation of any size will help Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue save these animals from suffering and provide the veterinary care they need to heal.

Your generous gift provides a second chance at life for unwanted, neglected dogs and cats on the reservation.

You can schedule a donation at any time on our Give to the Max page -

Mama Tasha, now Charlotte, finds a home

This dog was surrendered on the day her pups were born. Red Lake Rosie's Rescue found the little family without food or shelter. Read more about her story in the original blog post HERE. Once the puppies were weaned, all moved to foster care and John took in Tasha (now Charlotte) and found her a home to love her.

Grooming at the Oct. Clinic

CARMA AND LITTLE BEAR
CARMA'S COMMENTS ON OCTOBER CLINIC GROOMING:
Both Julie Cross and I were at the October 2014 Clinic in Redby. We had a wonderful time. I brought my feathers, so most of the dogs went home with a colorful touch!

JULIE AND THUNDER
These 3 dogs were amazing to groom, their only complaint was the flea bath I had to give them! Beautiful gentle souls. Their names are Runty (in the tub), Chewy...he has unbelievable underbite, & Moose (imagine having that name when you are a girl!!).

RUNTY
CHEWY
MOOSE
Poor cat was matted and full of diarrhea. Monitored while I shaved him down and bathed his hind quarters.

Tiny is not a year yet....her life is hard. She is an indoor dog that doesn’t get enough to eat. She was so skinny that I couldn’t shave her down properly...my blades against her body hurt to much. I had to finish grooming her face, immediately after surgery because she was so unhealthy and very afraid. She broke my heart..........

TINY
Some of the boys don’t like to be tutored...oops.....I mean neutered!! Deb is holding Little Bear. Just a sweetheart but a huge complainer!!! He just laid in our arms and groaned!

Henry is the red Dachshund, his owner felt so bad for him that she went out and bought him a new sweater, I had feathers to match!

Harmon hits another homerun!

UPDATE FROM FOSTER CAREGIVER LINDA:
Karen - this is one of the 11 lab pups that I had - nice update AND of course they love baseball so that is why this kid is named Harmon - after one of the all-time great Twins, Harmon Killebrew.

UPDATE FROM HARMON'S NEW FAMILY:
Hi Linda!

Our summer could not have been better! Harmon is the most wonderful addition to our little family and we love him so, so much!

Since our last communication, Harmon has grown a lot! He's now 45 pounds, but still thinks he's just a little guy... he seems to enjoy "mountain climbing" on us as we're playing with him or laying in bed. He completed his first round of training at Canine Coach! in Minneapolis, and did super well (except for peeing on his teacher the first night...). :) He listens super well and is now finally getting the hang of "shake."

Harmon is very loved by our families. Our parents call him their "grandpuppy" and spoil him accordingly! He also has two doggy "aunts" and a doggy "uncle" that he gets to play with! They run and wrestle and love being together. They are so fun to watch. Harm also enjoys the dog park nearby, adventuring through Ritter Farm Park, or walking in downtown Lakeville, where he may get the occasional ice cream treat. This summer we took him swimming at the lake many nights, though he's still getting the hang of that. If his doggy aunt is there, he will usually jump right in-- he just needs the encouragement! :) He still has a lot of energy so we like to wear him out as much as we can!

We couldn't have asked for a dog with a better temperament! He is definitely our companion! He absolutely MUST be with us at all times when we're at home. :) Either snuggled up next to us on the couch or sitting on the rug in the kitchen while we cook, he just loves to be with us, which is really special to us. He also loves blankets (he will even drag one around the house occasionally), sticks, and playing tug. He also assumes that every person he sees wants to be his friend! If he sees someone walking, he wants to meet them!

We could not be more thankful for our little fur baby and are so appreciative of your heart to give these pups a home until they find their forever home! Thanks for everything you do! Attached are some pics of our baby for you to enjoy! :)

Love,
K&D (and Harmon)
