Winter is coming, and last winter was brutal for all of the animals living outdoors on Red Lake reservation.

For the dogs and cats suffering from starvation, dehydration, parasitic infections, injuries, and wounds, the frigid temperatures can be fatal.

Imagine having little fur, due to hair loss from mange; no stored fat to help keep you warm; and no place to rest except in the freezing rain, wind, or snow.

Imagine roaming in sub-zero temperatures and snowstorms looking for something to fill the hole in your belly.

Imagine giving birth to a litter of puppies on the icy ground.

Imagine your ears, nose, tail, and paws stinging and burning while they freeze solid.
