Shyla: Foster home, forever home

Have you ever heard the term "foster failure"? It sounds like a bad thing, but it is actually a good thing. We use the term when the family fostering an animal decides they cannot give it up and they adopt it themselves :-) A lot of foster families "fail" in their first attempt to foster an animal, and most families who foster experience it at some time. Shyla's foster family finally succumbed to charms of her bi-colored eyes.

Shyla came to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue from Ponemah back in December of 2012. She had been abandoned and was living under a trailer, walking on just three legs. See original post HERE.

She was fortunate to be taken in by ACT V Rescue & Rehabilitation where she received the surgery and physical therapy she needed. She was so lucky to have her life saved and her leg! See post after surgery in January 2013 HERE.

Shyla could barely walk upon arrival. It's been a long but successful journey for this sweet dog. And, she would never be as strong as she is today without the patience and dedication from her foster mom and dad.

It's true. We have a Foster failure for our one blue-eyed, one brown-eyed beauty.

Shyla has been living with her foster family for a loooooong time. They went through surgery and recovery together, physical therapy, the serious illness of the resident dog, a lot of mental healing and a few season changes. After allll that, they decided they are really meant to be together.

We could not be happier for this now-complete family.
