KAREN GOOD AND HER VIDEO INTRODUCTION |
POLLY MCMASTER AND HER VIDEO INTRODUCTION |
DVD GIVEN TO EACH GUEST |
A videographer, Pablo Jones, filmed Karen, Polly, two spay/neuter clinics, and community members last summer. The videos were shown at the event and Karen and Polly were presented with beautiful crystal awards and roses.
Polly has not only been Karen's friend for many years, but also has worked with her to save animals since long before the rescue was founded. The two of them began by picking up dogs and feeding them whatever they could, sometimes just boiled rice or corn
One of the videos focused on Big Boy's journey. He is a big, black, happy dog that Karen knows well, because she cared for him for several months after a deeply embedded wire (used as a collar) was removed from his neck in 2011.
In June, he came into the RLRR/MN SNAP clinic missing the lower third of his front right leg. His owner reported that she had not seen him for three weeks. Big Boy was likely caught in a steel leg-hold trap and freed himself by either chewing or wrenching his foot off. Seriously dehydrated, emaciated and undoubtedly in great pain, Big Boy still managed some small tail wags.
His story is heart wrenching to watch, but has an incredibly happy ending. Big Boy made a surprise visit on stage, and Karen was able to see him for the first time since the day he walked into the clinic with his appalling injury four months ago.
Our gratitude goes to MN SNAP and its Board of Directors for their ongoing partnership with RLRR to help the reservation dogs and cats and for shining a bright light on Karen's efforts.

Can never say enough about Karen, Polly, and such a wonderful, dedicated, compassionate group of volunteers, medical staff, and friends. Living up North, we often think we are forgotten, but the metro support team always remembers and is always so eager to pitch in to help make a difference......and are grateful and very thankful to each one of you.
